First 6 Atari Arcade Games: History & Review of PONG, Space Race, Gotcha, Rebound, Gran Trak 10, Tank - The Irate Gamer
That Gotcha game actually seems pretty creative!
I like the way the maze changes in like a to to bottom wave
I took a break for the holiday. This is my first week back. more irate goodness coming very soon
I guess I can understand why people hate on your Irate vids, even know they're still good. But this is a series you made yourself. Plus it's creative. Anywho. Ignore the hate, keep it up, you're badass!
agree
3:58 I died laughing when I first saw this part of the video.
Nice reporting! Fun Fact: Computer Space made a special appearance in the epic 1973 Sci-fi thriller, Soylent Green. It was painted white for the movie, but the original colors were Red, Yellow, or Blue, much like the various Soylent flavors.
Your comedy is a real stress releaser. LOL
BJM Graphics so original, right?
will do!
Another great video. I agree with your decision to convert all the old "History of Video Games" videos into HD. It makes the production look more professional and better overall. I'd definitely rather wait for a good, high quality HD video than something that just thrown together in two seconds. Keep up the good work, Chris.
It was confirmed that Nolan Bushnell was at the Magnavox Odyssey demonstration. He signed the attendee logbook that became evidence in a later court trial.
Very educational, fascinating and funny. Love it.
Been watching your videos for a loooong time man! Always been a big fan! Keep it up!
that's crazy. that "Andy Capps" place is now a comedy club called Rooster T Feathers in Sunnyvale, CA. it's 5 minutes away from my house!
So, the Gotcha game first had two mound-like controllers, which people then dubbed the "boob controllers", so to make the controversy "better" Atari thought that replacing the two mound-like controller with two black stick wouldn't make it ANY worse right? They probably thought "This won't get people talking"! 😂
Wow I really liked this remake in HD. Nice new scenes and the part with the battle tanks was great and made me lol. Nice work Christopher :D ~
Wow. Published on Mary J. Blige's 42nd birthday !
Irate Gamer is the best, dude you rock, love your older videos too.
Wow, I hardly remember the Gotcha game. That was one that I'd walk by without a second thought. Space Race was fun but there wasn't much of an addictive challenge to it.
Keep going with this documentary, its well informative and has a bit of the "tonge in cheek" humor that keeps viewers watching ^^
Also, do you need ice for that head bruise of yours?
Nolan Bushnell was a part of Nutting Associates in 1972. When he was sent to the Magnavox Odyssey demonstration, he wasn't particularly attracted to it, or anything it did. The real inspiration of Pong came from when Bushnell played a tennis game on a super large computer in MIT in 1964.
no he played computer space
I'm starting to enjoy these more than the irate ones, the sheet amount of research and effort put into this series is amazing. Great work as always
I was unaware that there was a demand for these videos in HD.
6:08 and you'd expect Chris to make his best impression of the drill sargeant from the Full Metal Jacket movie. XD
Love this. Well done Chris
happy to see this series to continue
Excellent video, gamer! Sad to see so many haters out here on the internet, but keep up the good work!
Really good research and entertaining. These are a great history lesson to kids who only had Call of duty
1:35 fun fact: this image was use in a fnaf inspired analog horror called The walten files
You need to continue these Chris! We've waited enough!!
Very good video this one, gets the information across in a fun way
i think that the redo is better than original, keep going chris!
music at 6:20?
I wish I was around when the Boob Game was in arcades.
How does the button appear in front of her dress ? Yes I noticed details before anything else.
A few questions:
Have you heard of World Cup Football by Atari? It came out in 1974, it's really obscure though.
And I thought Tank! was by Kee Games?
Always glad to look back into past, when video games were still premitive.
More entertaining and informative than a Shark Attack.
Nice video! Request: Do more reviews of 8bit games. Got anything coming up?
I enjoy this series as much as I do the Irate one. I really like the information and presentation.
Is that a Pacman can at 2:07? WANT.
I would love to see some NEW retro game related content from Chris. I can't remember the last time he did a game review. Hook your fans up with something fresh please.
I love that people are still comparing AVGN and Irategamer when they do COMPLETELY different things now.
Great video Chris!
You got to upload the rest of series
Computer Space wasn’t a failure - it just didn’t make boatloads of money, like Pong, which followed.
Btw: I saved a copy of the “Gotcha” flyer “for later” also!😏
I LOVE this series! Thanks!
Video games had to start somewhere. Most games owe their existence to Pong.
Recently discovering IG's video's, my 1st impression was--a knock off AVGN. but THIS series of video's are Incredibly Well Informed and FULL of information !! I really like them !!...Maybe he drew inspiration from Mr. Rolfe...But This Series has been SO informative...you've a new fan :)
Cooldude came un-glued .... lmao ~
It was interesting to find out that contrary to popular belief, pong actually wasn't the first game ever.
love the videos irate. Keep em coming!
Then that proves you haven't been watching any of Asa's videos, lately. He seems friendly enough to me ~
4:34.... I only read Play Boy for the articles.
Did I ever tell you you resemble Thomas Wilson from Back to the Future? It helped make your NES BTTF review very authentic. :D
I actually really like this guy.
FYI: the title's a bit misspelled. The correct spelling is Gran Trak 10. Just trying to be helpful.
Hey Irategamer, I highly doubt you'll answer this but, at 2:06 is that a pacman Monster energy drink on your shelf?
Pt 4 was the last decent video you made, it's been trash since, time to complete it :o)
I ll save this for later. Good one
Exactly. Thank you.
You're incredibly funny, and I love it!
God Chris, You are good at what you do!! Keep it up bro!
Still a fan in 2018 :)
brehs its so funny that that maze game was un (succ) seful @nd later became a popular theme in video games!
Don't go that far, okay? James Rolfe is not egotistical. He's entertaining and I also watch his videos. Watch one or the other or both, it doesn't matter. But please stop posting hateful remarks.
I watch both too and i don't understand how he copied AVGN. They both have copied others. There has allways been "angry" reviewers (Even before the all mighty internet or TV :DD) and it's not any exclusive right for James
Could've sworn Chris said Al "Acorn". Is this a remaster?
whoa! this guy has a talent!
-ERROR- Type: Misspelling Word: Gran Trak 10 Misspelling: Gran Tran 10 You can fix it. Click "edit" to fix the title.
do you like custom car builds? please just take a look at my couple vids and see if you like it or not.
These are awesome.
I got that, but I wouldn't go so far as to say AVGN is far, far superior. This isn't a symphonic competition here. :P James is fun to watch. Chris is fun to watch. Both are good, yet different enough to not have to constantly compare the two. It'd be like bringing Angry Joe in on these discussions and comparing what he does to AVGN and IG. No need for it.
Great work.
I thought his name was Al Acorn?? Love the videos Chris, can't wait for the next HD remake!
4:32 XD Im looking at the mistake. see if you can spot it. heres a hint: Bro do you even layer?
IT WAS ABOUT DAMN FUCKING TIME
There is a ton of evidence that Nolan was at the Magnavox demonstration. First there was a sign in sheet that Nolan signed in using his real name. Also I have seen interviews were Nolan admitted to being there and said he was "unimpressed" yet he copied the idea with some improvements. What a dick. I don't mind he copied it but damn at least give some respect to what your ripping off. Welcome back to RUclips and good luck.
I just checked that out... dude, hilarious! Thx for sending me that link!
Damn th is is some funny stuff, i sure hope the irate gamer will return sometime with new gaming content!
5:25 Wow, the car turns are seen this time!
why are there in HD and not the original?
KELLY WATCH THE STARS,hey do you remember that song?
It's so ridiculous that IG can't post a video without having the comment section explode into some AVGN/IG debate... which seems to be more often than not sparked by the AVGN fan boy battalion. What is it that makes them so angry? I don't get it. Anyway, I just want to say to Chris... great video and looking forward to your next game review.
Dude, that's what I just said. I was DEFENDING IG.
5:13 what game is that
Darude sandstorm
He's not. He only said "no." Meaning, you don't have to talk that way about James Rolfe.
even though i agree with you AGVN came out orignaly in 2004 with Bad NES games
Nolan created the Gotcha joysticks to look like breasts on purpose. He talked about it in a few interviews.
now that the early days of youtube is over (and shameless rip-offs have passed) i like Irate
Whoa sailor, calm down.
Didn't you already upload that one??
so is it irate gamer still or is it i rate gamer now
This was kind of a letdown because it's soooo long between actual new videos. I love Irate Gamer, but it seems to take an entire T.V. season's worth of time for Chris to produce 1 episode.
Then tell that to the people who are actually brown-nosing James Rolfe. The moleman guy wasn't. And if you do tell people that, don't take it out on James himself. He's just making videos and entertaining. He can't be held accountable for the more obnoxious fans of his.
AVGN is far, far superior, but IG is still pretty good. To all you haters, I'd like to see YOU do better.
They're both good in their own right. Ease up a bit.
In all affairness. Despite what the fans of both say. There really is no need to fight anymore. Irate has gone to a different path so PLEASE STOP COMPARING WHAT WAS THE PAST!!!!
1:26 more importantly who did you lose one round against
i love how the blind seem to think this is the same as AVGN and can not get out of the past. since his first few videos none have been a copy.
Yes! finally!
you still got it
