Did it all to my P 228 west German one I have had for about37 yrs. S R kit , grips , trigger return spring & super strut ! Best thing ever for my small hands & arthritis !
My Super Strut arrived Monday. 12 minutes after the mailman left it was installed. Tuesday morning was putting rounds down range. Smoother action, Lighter pull in DA. Im happy. Thanks for the video
Thanks for your great installment of the SIG Sauer P226 AND P229 - Armory Craft - Sig Armorer Superstrut. Fellow your steps and came out very happy what I done. Again Thanks you for your Great videos!!!
I've installed the Superstrut on all my P Series Sig's. Installation was slightly more difficult on the SAO P226 Legion, but still well worth it. Thanks SigGuy!
I added a 17 pound red spring to my p226 dak and i stalled the shorter spring retainer as the stock SIG retainer is tHe longer one. The SuperStrut being wider in size, and when i add the red lighter spring on, comes in contact with the backside of my G10 Hogue grip. First pull of the trigger works fine, but does not reset as the spring gets bound up on G10 grip. This is documented in forums as an isue with Hogue grips for the PSeries, so im running the stock SIG strut with the lighter sear and strut spring for now.
Would this be good for a 229 legion my friend ? Love your channel I have a few sig handguns and have bought many extras recommned by you. Next will be your punch set for my 229 legion.
Sig Guy, great videos by the way. I just pulled apart my new P226 Legion SAO and don't see the issue described. Spring does not bow like video shows, it actually stays pretty straight throughout its range of motion. My spring does stick only after its been under full tension. Once it comes off, by hand I cannot make it stick to the strut. I also noticed that the shape of the section that goes inside the spring is slight different than what the video shows, actually closer to the Super Struts' shape. The notch at the top of the Super Strut is not present on my stock strut, so that could still be an issue. But as far as the binding goes on the spring, looks like Sig did some changes.
Ok after redoing the test when i pull my hammer down the slide lever moves once up and clearly visiable to the eye but after repeating the pull it only moves a tiny bit. I called sig customer service.and they told me they have never heard one person complain but assured me if my P226 broke it would be fixed undsr warrenty. So as much as i would do this modification i dont want to.void.my warrenty. Also by the time it causes real problems we are talking several thousand rounds
So don’t fix it until it’s broken? That’s not a real good answer in regards to firearms. It’s yours and you can do as you please. Not very hard to reinstall the factory strut if you ever needed to send it in to SIG. That safety will get looser and the cross bolts are know to break. SIG doesn’t admit much is ever wrong. They still haven’t admitted to the sticker problem in the original 365 nor the drop problem in the 320. Yet there is the VOLUNTARY 320 upgrade but no recalls for both dangerous issues. A SIG CS rep is the last person I would ask. Message The Sig Armorer or Gray Guns and see what they think. I already know the answer.
@@SigGuy I agree with you but my grip is a one piece grip and heard it is a real pain to take off unless you have that special tool. I regret buying this gun maybe I will just take it to Cabalas and sell it to them. I do know if the safety does rattle Sig will fix it. They have taken care of me before and sure they will do the same again.
I'd assume that if I wanted to... I could remove my strut and file the side that the spring contacts, and make it a much more friendly surface. If I wanted to improve my hammer slop... I'd have to get one of these, but it seems really expensive for a little piece of flat, stamped steel. Honestly... if you have access to a laser or water jet... you could use your original to revise the design and make your own super strut. Wouldn't cost you squat. Of course... not everyone knows the owner of a machine shop ;-)
There are more improvements to it other than the sharp edges contacting the spring. Did you watch the complete video? As far as upgrades, gunsmithing or modifications to classic SIGs I think the cost of this upgrade is right were it belongs. Most people don’t understand what goes into research, development and production of aftermarket upgrades like these. All that isn’t free. Many people file down and polish their struts. That’s nothing new. This strut does much more than that.
No idea. I don’t used GG products anymore nor will I ever again. The Sig Armorer was the first to designed and developed an aftermarket upgrade strut. It works as advertised flawlessly. I now use them in all my p-series pistols.

I just took the grips off my made in Newington P220 and no spring of n e king is touching or hiting the strut where that notch is, everything seems very nicely fit and the strut spring is not binding either, the spring is curved a little but not touching either side of the strut so neither of the problems you describe here are taking place. There isnt n e thing even close to touching the strut 2 cause a problem on my gun, maybe i got a good one or something or they have fixed n e problems with this new P220.
@@jackomalley3687 ok, i couldnt see anything rubing, i even cocked the hammer exremly slow 2 c if i could feel n e thing that i couldnt see. Do not use these for the p226 X-five series of pistols! This strut works excellent for p226 DA/SA or p229 DA/SA. Curtis Rudisail ahhhh. Yes. The pin that the factory strut contacts. Yes it can fail. There have been instances of it breaking. I’m not sure how Sig deals with that issue.
