  • I’ve wanted to shave the antenna for a while. I will shave it properly by welding it in when I’m ready to paint it. For now, the carbon fiber block off plates will work just fine. I always enjoy modifying the turbo Mini Cooper S and ‪@harborfreight‬ always makes it easier. With their tools and detailing supplies from ‪@meguiars‬ . The ‪@RYOBITOOLSUSA‬ angle grinder cut through the carbon fiber surprisingly clean.

Paint it body color. That way it looks like it came from the factory.

Hey dude… what’d you do about the actual pcb & connections that were inside your antenna base? My daughters base has the exact same problem, so looking at doing this.

Everything I disconnected is still there. I may pull the cable at some point but I didn’t for now. The radio still has a good signal.

@@recklesslyfestyle sorry for the add on question here, so did you put the pcb that was inside the antenna between the roof & headliner, or did you leave everything disconnected? What do you do about FM reception? I’m not so worried about Sat/Nav since we had the head unit replaced and she has CarPlay.

I left everything disconnected. The reception didn’t change, still works great.

Are you not worried about structure of your hood after cutting out the support inside?

No, it’s still pretty solid. I’ll eventually buy a carbon hood, this is a good free substitute though.
