Just a heads up, I live in the freezing cold winter in the Midwest of USA. I wrapped by car with PPF and on top of that a layer of vinyl. I didn't know how or why but my hood had a rock chip this winter. I thought it was damaged from the dealership but I couldn't prove it. So when I tested some spare wrap throwing rocks and small tools on some metal sheets, I found out the wrap becomes like hard plastic and becomes super brittle. I was very disjointedness since the film is already so expensive.

Hi Christian, in view of this new film being PPF-based, how easy or difficult would it be to use cutting line tape. If it's fairly easy, would you expect the edge to cut cleanly?
I use 3M 2080 carbon fiber wrap, and it cuts well, but not so sure about a PPF-based film.
2080 is great, just not as durable as I would like (2 yrs max). If this was cuttable using a cutting line, it would significantly increase durability and save me alot of time.
Thank you for all you do to advance the DIY crowd!

You could skin the roof with real CF, but it's a massively messy, expensive, time consuming, and more importantly irreversible job. Also i don't think the epoxy used would have the self-healing properties of a PPF, so would need polishing regularly to keep it looking that slick. I guess you could put PPF over the real CF, but you might as well just install a wrap in that case 😉
