2008 gave us Synchros, one of my favorite game mechanics
Did you just say you were born 2009?
Anyone know what app they use for life points?
It was one of good eras until about 2011
You didnt know he is 13? Everyone knows that. 😁
This channel exists since 2009. Good job starting your channel right after birth Paul
Pretty sure he meant 'born' as in the birth of his channel.
I almost felt old.
@@gamelab9177 you mean that's not a 13 year old?
@@MrOverrated97 lmfao
Lol he got me with that one. I actually pulled out the calculator 😂🤦♂️
Man the old school decks are so cool to see. They look like so much fun to play with. Nice job
Be cool to see the dragunity structure deck be played.
George Floyd was a paid actor
@@josecampos9717 tf you talking about
@@gothicfemboy428 your father and Paul’s and Alec’s father he was a paid Actor
@@josecampos9717 ok idk wtf you talking about lol
That end twist could have been a scripted moment on the show and I mean that in a positive way!! X3 Amazing duel, guys! Also big fan of when Alec was so blinded by his monster's betrayal he blew it up with Sakeretsu Armor instead of waiting for Endymion to attack and getting his monster back and being in a stronger moment XD He truly embraced the archetype of Dark Emperor cause that was a text book villain mistake yet you can't blame him. "Disloyalty will not be tolerated in this Empire!!"
yeah frr, Alec truly embraced the showmanship often seen in the anime, and still won! loved it
What an amazing duel. This is what yugioh should be. The ending turn had my heart jiggling
Paul will be so popular when he starts Highschool next year, looking like that he will be able to buy booze for all the teenagers.
Lmao
iykyk
Yeah that statement had me questioning the year and my age at the same time. Damn I'm tired...
@@jdp3578 I was questioning 🤨 my mortality for a hot minute frfr
@@jdp3578 same and I have a daughter born in 2011 and still I questioned everything smh
Spellcaster's command were my first cards. Honestly such a nostalgia hit this channel has been and while I don't play anymore it's still great to see things like this.
Mine was monarch’s lol
This dual was so much fun especially that resolve at the end while would have guessed 😂❣️
This was one of the best duel videos yet, not just the close matches, but the nostalgia, I love it when unoptimised (single structure) versions of the decks have such an epic game, way better than seeing optimised versions
Spellcasters command was my first structure deck when i started playing during 5Ds, and i know the deck pretty well so i knew the magical cylinder at was coming at the end, wasn’t counting on the chain and the ending was definitely fitting for a great duel!
Spellcaster’s Command was my first structure deck ever! It’s the reason I use Endymions even to this day.
Cozy Glow is the best
@@pepito69: I have no idea what led you to say that, but I agree that Cozy Glow is indeed best pony.
@@shadowspector3611 lol your about section
@@pepito69: ohhh, I forgot I put that on my channel. I still stand by it 100% though lol
Same but it’s lavals for me
my god what a duel this was, one of the most back and forward, and even though the chain of trap/spells means the last card to be activated is the first one to resolved meant spellcaster command lost, i see it as a bittersweet draw
Dark Emperor is one of my favorite structure decks. I just love Caius. Still one of my favorie cards of all time.
Same. Dark Emperor was one of my childhood structure decks and I got it for my birthday this one time along with one of those cubes in Target that was a plastic clear case full of random booster packs and cards.
That was such a great duel! My favorite part was Paul reaction to a banned trap. Totally made my day! Can't wait to see your next duel!!
I love these decks, I'm one of those old players that kinda quit the game when pendulum and link monsters came out, I play a lot with a similar spell counter deck on Link Evolution, cool video game, it really helped me understand the new rules
You can pinpoint the exact moment the joy leaves Alec's eyes at 22:44
I been wanted to play pendulums for a long time and Endymion seemed to be best place to start, so I got 3x of Order of the Spellcasters structure deck and I love it.
Ain't no way paul said he was born in 2009
Boy I was graduating high school
Ain't no way
Team APS channel created on 11 Aug 2009
What do you mean you were born in 2009!? You are NOT THIRTEEN 😆
I was born 2004 and in 18 lol so correct they are older
I thought I misheard him! lol
What is really cool about these vids is seeing the evolution of the gameplay in real time. How the decks went from one sided affairs to being more competitive. Also how the cards and their effects altered. It is almost like a history lesson. Loving these and hope ya'll keep going.
Dang Paul looks great for 13!
What a time it was to be alive! The spellcaster spell counter deck was my FAVORITE DECK of ALL time. He got an awesome retrain that made that famous filed spell so much more stronger! Great vid!
One of the best structure decks in yugioh history
And people say that old Yu-Gi-Oh! doesn’t have crazy interactions! That last turn was absolutely insane! Such a fun duel.
These came out in 2008 and 2009
@@mujigant I know - I was there, and still remember the hype around the Dark Emperor's deck. It was around that time when I initially stopped playing Yu-Gi-Oh!, because when I finished secondary school and started college, no-one around me played any more.
This was a sick epic back and forth battle!!! I had both of those decks when I was 17 in 2011. I love bothe decks but my heart goes out to The Shadow Monarch. That deck was my first introduction to banishing in Yu-Gi-Oh.
The duels are the best part of your channel! Each one is so much fun. Can’t wait to see your OWN decks compete
I really like how you guys mention the turn steps and all that's going on. I wouldn't consider myself an expert at yugioh but I feel I really understand all the steps thanks to how well everything is explained in these duels. Keep up the awesome work!
Dark emperor was my very first deck ever, this video took me waaaaay back and I loved it
Great duel. Awesome memories came to my mind when i saw the monarch /d.d. deck. I used to play it with dark brive, dimensional fissure, macrocosmos and solemn judgment.
This was so amazing. I really appreciate how you call each effect. Also, the call out for which phase you're in/going to is nice as well. 5 Star Duel!
when that 4400 maju atk... i screamed MAGIC CYLINDER (PTSD) AND THEN BOOOM it happened!!!
what i didnt expect is the other plot twitst AGAIN BOOM D.D DYNAMITE!!!!
man... feels like im back in the good ol days..
An idea for these structure deck duels, would it be possible to find the cards you would want to run multiple of in some of boxes of cards you guys have? It would be a bit more work, but could make the duels more exciting? Either way love the videos!
That wouldn't be a structure vs structure anymore but simply a duel with old cards
@@GRtogetaBIC I think they mean adding second and third copies of cards already in the structure deck to simulate buying 3 decks without having to buy 3 decks.
@@Merilirem They could even buy the reprints and common copies that cost like 10 cents.
@@GRtogetaBIC well old structure decks actually used to come with recommended cards to add to the deck. I'd love to see them do those.
Please
My dudes really channeled Yugi Moto with those last plays! Awesome duel, guys! This was such a great mix of interaction. I miss the 2009 Yu-Gi-Oh days
The magic cylinder move at the end is exactly how I defeated my friend when he used that same exact card that gains attacks for every card removed from play and I won Total brought back nostalgia
Honestly my headcanon is that this duel ended with you both finishing each other off M.A.D Style. Another great duel.
These are my 2 favourite starter decks of all time! So glad they made for such an exciting match!
I saw Spellcaster's Command as one of the decks. Because it was the deck that kept me going in the game through the rough patches (I still run an altered version of it as my main deck IRL), you got my view.
That was an epic Duel! Back and forth, evenly matched, good use of the array of cards and a nail-biting ending. Love the good ol' D.D's and Spellcasters.
That’s my Boss Monster! Gren Maju De Eiza! I have loved playing him ever since I got three copies of him back when I was a kid! My first actual deck was a banish deck.
Do you still play him?
The spellcaster command structure deck was one of my first yugioh products I got I remember after the dentist I went to Wal-Mart and my mom let me get this, it was special even to this day the artwork and theme are some of my favorite things in yugioh.
I enjoy this duel I do wish there we multiple games but I understand keeping it simple and quick.
If this structure deck had at least 1 or 2 synchro it would of brought the power of the deck much higher but structure deck for so long didn't include any extra deck.
Glad you both got to summon the boss monster it can be very hard bringing out endymion but glad you got to do it.
Paul is a young lad?! Damn what a great start
Great match. I love when you activate Magic Cylinder for 4400 damage and then Im so hyped when D.D Dynamite activated to finish the game. So entertaining 🔥🔥🔥
That duel and that twist ending...great job team aps
I remember getting 3 of the Caius structure decks for my 13th birthday. Had a blast making the deck with the extras and killing it at locals
Holy shit, I never thought I'd get this excited for a Yu-Gi-Oh duel again! What a duel. That's the kind of real Yu-Gi-Oh I dream to play.
These old deck duels hit different because I know I’ve had this exact duel in the past.
This duel was so much fun... I love his face when he sees the magical cylinder hahahah
That was one of the most anime endings to a duel ever. Great stuff!
God the Spellcaster’s Command SD is so nostalgic for me. It was the deck that got me into Yugioh (Endymion did technically, but still). I even made my first deck with it, and I still use that deck to this day; obviously it’s changed a lot, though
"This is the year I was born" *cries in 1990*
This was such a treat of a duel. What a rollercoaster lmao
This duel was incredible, so much fun. Keep bringing classic structure decks Vs, for example dragons vs dark emperor. Would like to see other match with different combinations
"oh its that shit.." fuggen eh, id feel that way too buddy
"By ordeer of the empreor"... Was I the only one who caught that? Great duels!
Bro! Thanks for bringing back these 2 decks ona duel! Dark Emperor was my first deck back in 2010 when I first started to play Yugioh with like 11 years :,), my cousin has Spellcaster Command, this video has bring me so many memories from my childhood playing Yugi, the end was really hype hahahahaha. I wish I had those cards until today :(, I had 3 Dark Emperors deck, it was completely broken hahaha.
This is the first video I saw from you guys and it was just amazing and funny. New like and sub from now on! :)
These two are my favourite decks of all time and still form the basis for my modern decks
0:18 XD "that was the year I was born (cheeky smile)."
That game was so close! And the ending was priceless lol. I honestly didn't know who was going to win it was that close
Gosh, I remember being in elementary school when thise dropped and everybody had them. I wanted the Monarchs deck so badly. I thought the card art on the box was so cool.
Back when a yugioh duel would last 20+ turns
The good old days of back and forth dueling
It doesn’t mean what we have now is worse, but having 10 turns for each player sure was different
Have you played against mystic mine? 20 turns is short compared to that
This was as close to the show as it gets irl, That last chain was actual anime nonsense and I love it!
Wow that card that those bots used in Master Duel showed up in this duel. That was so funny to see it resolve in this duel. I can't wait to see what you have in store :)
I got Dark Emperor when it came out, and I loved it and expanded on it to make my own Chaos variant with some of the Dark Counterparts(Dark Grepher, Dark Nephtys) and more copies of Gren.
I knew it could be close, because Dark Emperor can make some "Big Numbah" monsters, but Endymion can destroy anything with a Spell discard, and has many ways of getting Spell cards back.
I also totally forgot it had Magical Cylinder.
Oh my gosh, what a throwback! I distinctly remember going to target and buying these decks with my mom. Thank you for this trip down memory lane!
I feel like Paul has a personal vendetta with any deck that has Monarchs in them 🤷♂️😂😂😂 this was an awesome duel y'all, keep up the great content!
This is far more enjoyable that watching someone set up a board for 15 minutes and finish on 3-4 omni negates.
"Mine's from 2009, thats the year I was born!" So youre 13?
When Alec screamed when he banished brain control, he turned into the its wednesday my dudes meme😆😂
Awesome duel. And that ending was crazy! You can say that Paul had a real "blast" xD!
Born in 09? Damn what a way to make me feel old as all living hell.
Dude same! I heard him say that and thought it was a joke. When they didn’t laugh like it was a joke, I paused the video and reflected. I was born in 96 😭
@@dragonofkilln9663 ah yes this channel was created on 11 Aug, 2009. It's the born of this channel, not him.
@@Kawaiisikkusu still doesn’t stop me from feeling old haha 🥺
That ending was pretty epic
One of the more fun structure deck duels I’ve watched. Please do more.
This was one intense duel Loved it
I'm sooo excited to see this. I've been hoping you guys were gonna do Spellcaster's command. It was the first structure deck i bought.
That's the year I was born - Paul. Later that day, I guess I somehow made people think I was born in 2009, wonder how that happened. Great video anyway guys, keep it up.
The Monarch structure deck that really grabbed my attention is from 14 years ago. I'm old...
Why is it so surprising to me that Paul was born in 2009? I was born in 2008 and it’s just a big surprise how much of a difference there is
Sweet my boys! Love the content!
This was hype to watch. I actually had the Caius deck, and it brings back a lot of memories for sure
Great duel, very entertaining back and forth!
Damn, that last move proves that Alec really is the villain of Team APS
If “Hannibal Lecter,” was a card, it would be scary, no cap!!!
Didn't thought Dragon City would sponsor thos channel, it feels so random, great duel btw.
These structure deck rules remind me of my high school years. I miss Yu-Gi-Oh! like this
These were great years for casual players and dedicated players. Fun times trading at recess.
Back when I was first getting into the game in high school senior year in 2014 I went out and bought the Endymion structure deck thinking it was going to be able to compete against the real decks my friends had. Oh how wrong I was
Caius was most likely the most common monarch monster used since it was easy for yugioh players to get there hands on due to having its own structure deck.
Maaaan..the DD/banish deck was my all time favorite deck. Macros cosmos/d.fissure, dd survivor/lady/assailant, return from dd, and gren maju in back just in case...
Ahhh good times 🥲
I got to be honest, I'm starting to watch these things like I used to watch wrestling as a kid. Are these things scripted? The last few duels like the Joey vs. Pegasus starter deck duels have come right down the wire. I wouldn't even be mad, I'll suspend my disbelief all day to enjoy these. KEEP THEM COMING!
The Dark Emperor Structure Deck was really controversial leading up to launch, because the Japanese version had a copy of every monarch to make a cool macro monarchs build, while the US release only had Caius. At the time leading up to the US release, monarchs were the meta in the TCG, especially Perfect Circle with Raiza, while they were no longer top tier in the OCG. We also had been denied releases of the Dark and Light structures. I'm not sure if we ever found out if these were Konami or UDE decisions, but either way there were a lot of people upset about missing out on common Zaborg and Raiza on various forums leading up to the release.
Of course, Dark support had just gotten a huge boost in PTDN the month before the deck actually dropped, so by the time the deck released the meta had already changed to early DAD decks that cost a small fortune due to the change of DAD from a normal to a secret rare, so the subject of player ire had changed once again as well. I wish I could say I was nostalgic for this time, but the fact is that this is when I finally stopped putting time and money into this game in any significant way. It became increasingly clear that the game was being made intentionally more expensive, and we were heading into the great recession just a few months later.
Konami started denying us structure decks again too. The Drugunity R and Lost Sanctuary R structure decks had thwir new cards shoved into Ghosts From the Past 1 and 2 respectively.
As someone who played Endymion in the 5Ds/Zexal era, it was fun to see it played here! But by god, that's a painfully slow deck. I popped off when Citadel came out though.
Yooo!!! I had the Spellcasters command deck when I was a kid! One of the first that got me into the game! Convinced my mom to buy me some individual cards on eBay from time to time (OG Dark Magician)
22:55 Master Duel flash backs..
Amazing duel, didn't even know this decks existed and they are very cool. Keep up the work!
I remember when those decks came out, took the spellcaster one apart and added parts of it to my Dark Magician Deck.
Omg u guys are 13!?!? Man, it’s nice seeing younglings playing the game I grew up with.
My initial thoughts on the title (While the ad plays) makes me think of the Flaming Molotov Ferret/Weasel and I'm hype for this lol
I’m not sure if either of these have been used yet, but I’d love to see the Synchron Extreme and Master of Pendulum structures from 2015 get played!
Paul’s reaction to dynamite was hilarious
Yugi's Starter Deck was my First Deck, afterwards Dragon's Collide and that was my Main Deck till my Friends Forbidden me from playing it.
Chaos Dragon is my Favorite and one I will always play and try to and any Yugioh Games.
