      @Raezioo 7 лет назад +26

      Considering they are guaranteed to last 3 months without breaking, corroding,... that's a fair price really. It's perfect for people who don't need to change their strings ever 4 weeks.

    • @riffsnreviews
      @riffsnreviews 7 лет назад +5

      It's ok if it can keep the 1st day tone for 90 days, which in theory it should when you listen to the sales pitch, I don't imagine that is does though, but if it did, 3 to 4 sets a year for your favorite guitar isn't really that bad... Compared to your 4£ run of the mill daddario which lose tone after a couple of weeks. Personally on my favorite guitar I was using elixir, and they really did hold their tone/brightness for longer, easy over 6 weeks, but they are the most fragile strings i've ever used, and I never break strings normally, so stopped buying them. Tried the NYXLs they are meh, expensive for nothing really special... I'll try a set of these ernie ball's for sure.

    Fun video, but the test itself is a bit useless. Tuning speed (strain rate) and the sharpness of the bends are big factors in breakage. If interested I'll recommend reading on tensile testing of materials :) Ernie Ball has probably made one.

Super durability, they don't get dirty easily and they can handle me doing crazy bends and playing super aggressively. I tried Ernie Ball, D'Addario etc. and they gave out a lot earlier than Elixir strings.

    One of the many things Ernie Ball does right, is easy packaging.
    You open up the packet and inside are 6 envelopes with a string each, with the string gauge in giant font. You really have to be very drunk to screw that up.
    A couple of weeks ago I wanted to restring my guitar with something fancier, so I got one of them d'addario cobalt coated jazz whatsathingies. Except inside the package the strings are bundled in two's, all together. You have to reference the packaging to really know what gauge each string is. And of course there is no standard for the colouring of these, so with bad lighting and a slightly inebriated state I fucked up and swapped the black with the purple beads, and the yellow and gold coloured ones. After figuring it out and attempting to take them off again, try to wrap the now curled wire back on another post, I was fed up, couldn't be bothered with it so I just put some wire cutters on them and placed my ernie ball backup pack. No dicking around and was done in 10 minutes.
    I'm not saying that was anyones fault but my own, but I'll be damned if I ever buy another d'addario pack again. Keep it simple you idiots.
    Also what are these people doing that they keep breaking their strings? The last time I broke my high-e was in 2009 or so, I only really replace strings when I need to clean my fretboard, which is once every 18 months or so. Just keep your nut and bridge lubed, make sure that there are no sharp edges on frets or tuners and strings will last a very long time.

    If you want a guarantee against corrosion and short string life, use a set of Elixir strings. I've had Elixir sets on some of my guitars for years, and they still sound great. They have a special coating that resists corrosion and that annoying "finger squeak" when you slide your fingers around. As a former Ernie Ball user who switched to Elixir, I swear by them.

  • @crimsun7186
    @crimsun7186 7 лет назад

    Is this the same BS marketing strategy Ernie Ball had been doing with guitarists? I stopped using them because they were releasing new string sets where only the wound on the bass strings is different and the plain strings are just regular RPS strings. Custom Gauge Stainless Steel(which is not custom gauge), Cobalt and M-Steel are these sets. You're effectively paying more for different wound strings + 3 regular nickel plated steel strings. Yes, even on the stainless steel set. Also, since they don't come packaged the way, say, D'addario strings do, they usually come with black corrosion spots out of the package and pretty much every single package of Power Slinkies I opened til this day had the plain strings like that. Compare that with D'addario ones, which come in a sealed package and the all the strings are pretty much spotless.
    And...reading their marketing material. Yup. Same old again. Only the wound strings and their core is different. The plain strings? Regular RPS strings. Why Ernie Ball keeps lying to their customers?

    That's great!.(fingers crossed) Or is it possibly a lie/marketing ploy and they do break but but figure the losses won't outweigh the gains at £18.99 a pop! Only way to find out i suppose is to see if Ernie Ball are still selling these in 10 years time! ( After all if they're unbreakable they can't offer anything more 'unbreakable'!) Interesting...Though It wouldn't surprise me in the current economic climate that some scallywags use the strings for almost 90 days then tune their high E up to Bb, snap the bugger then send them away for another packet??? rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat unless I'm missing some fine print in the clause??

    Come on people these strings cost at least 3X your usual set! So = my experience. Thursday - re string. Gig Friday 1st string breaks! Tuesday rehearsal 2nd string breaks! Sunday festival gig 3rd string breaks first song ! Ernie Ball = Ernie Bollocks guarantee yeah right.

    Ernie ball paradigm or D'addario NYXL? I've never player anything else than D'addario, so I don't know if ernies are any good :c

      NYXL are the top ones. Haven't tried Paradigm, but don't care about them either :) Ernieball strings have become some crap years ago.

      how long nyxl could last? I like d'addrio regular series but It corrode so fast. So currently I'm using elixir polyweb, not bad, but I miss crispiness from d'addario.

      It depends on whether you sweat much or wear out the strings fast. I guess that Elixir is fine for long plays, but NYXL is much better tonewise. Don't think that NYXL last longer that regular DaDDarios. I would suggest having like... 10 set of strings instead of 3 expensive ones. Fresh are all fine mostly. It depends on your budget and preferences.

    Lee, did you see what type of Pick Paul was playing? to me it looks like his white Ibanez signature pick, but form what I have read he hadn't been using those in a while and was using Dunlop Tortex picks ....

    I started out with Ernie Balls and they're fine for standard tunings and stuff like that. I admit I haven't tried these ones though. But since I play a whole step down and in lower tunings, I've always loved D'Addario(regulars or NYXL) for metal music because they just sound brighter. I want that cut for lower tunings, so I can't remember the last time I played anything other than D'Addario.

    where did the strings break at anyway. the bridge? the nut? the machine head? the ball end? usually breaks at the bridge or the ball end becomes unraveled. I have had a `string` of ball-end breaks from an .008. I just re-wrapped the ball-end and was good to go again but that's an area of concern I suppose.

    Good thing they didn't perform this test on a Gibson. The headstock would snap before the string!😂😂

    so what is this thing is made of? Cobalt 95% or what?... i already tired the M-Steel , yes it's not smooth on the finger tips but i liked that feel ... although i noticed fret wear after just a few days of using it.. but the M-Steel sounds "so Good" ---my tone is so great now.. you have to adjust or tweak the EQs..

    hmm, maybe a little over priced... lower the price 25% and lose the cardboard and they will out sell everything.
    and lose the garantee...i would'nt do that if i was them...

  • @dilldozar296

    Good gimmick but it’s not worth it. Twice the price for half the tone. You can get a 3 pack of regular slinky for the same price as 1 pack of paradigm. Not worth it
