- JFRD responded to a local BBQ restaurant that was just closed for the night with employees still inside at the time of the start of the fire. Heavy smoke filled this structure, all occupants were out of the structure and a defensive attack was initiated by command.
Watch the RAW footage from this fire.
No injuries resulted from this fire, the cause is under investigation.

i was half expecting all that smoke billowing out to light off at any sec
Good thing it didn't
Sick smoke. I could smell this one through my monitor
crazy right?
Glad that everyone was able to get out in time, and that there were no injuries to anyone related to this incident.
Thank you to all firefighters everywhere for protecting the citizens of your coverage area.
Appreciate you watching.
0:44 one thing I learned a while ago was to not sit on the nozzle. Give yourself about an arm's length and control the hose from that point. It allows better control over the nozzle and your chances of losing control diminish quite a bit
Right. Put the end of the nozzle the palm of your hand then push the hose forward until your arm is stretched out straight. Grab the hose with your other hand. Now its is in the right position.
Thanks for your insight
Wow amazing to see the fire was in the walls and the ceiling!! Great job.
The area of the fire start may I repeat May indicate an electrical origin to the fire that's where the wiring is located.
Mostly the ceiling.
Good work guys you are hero’s putting yours life’s and body’s health on the line much gratitude and respect to you all
We appreciate that, but just are doing our jobs.
Great video on the trials & tribulations of a commercial incident involving stubborn fire in the cock loft. Textbook ground floor knockdown followed by horizontal vent allowing entry to go get it in the overhead.. Brown smoke fires mean a lot of work & the JFRD did it in a professional & safe manner. Kudos!!
Appreciate your comments and taking the time to watch.
@@thejfrd2490 you do great videos & the JFRD are a honorable example of today's fire service, just ashame that others can't take away positive aspects only reflecting on the negative or just the limits of their knowledge
@@keithritter6157 you got the Mail on the head with those comments…it’s hard to take sometimes, but we plug along
They finally decided to open up the walls, better late than never.
@@jimkeappock7558 how can you tell from this short video how long it was until they opened the walls?? You act like you were there
Nice shot of the lineman pulling the bayonet fuse holders from the transformer. That’s a newer style pot.
Not wearing his proper PPE though

Man, many moons ago I actually applied for a job at this Bono's when I moved back to Jax round 2005 (didn't get the job), but was pretty surreal when I saw it caught on fire a few years back.
It was an intense fire for sure.
This dept is easily one of the most stellar agencies I’ve ever watched for fireground footage. It would be a trip to work here.
Thanks so much
you would probably be tripping if you breathed that smoke. These guys are obviously immune to it. They have special lungs.
Being serious for a second, if they think the only danger from smoke is the visible bits of it they are seriously mistaken.
@@IAMPLEDGEOh look, a troll reply. Lol
@@baylorsmith5610 I am not a troll. Firefighters are given this equipment for a reason.
The reason I quoted you on 'trip' is that one of the first effects of carbon monoxide on the brain is that it can make you feel high as it starts to kill you. Google it. Confusion is one of the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning. Carbon monoxide is invisible, you cannot taste or smell it.
Oh my goodness! They're supposed to smoke the meat, not the building. All joking aside, is there any indication as to what caused the heavy smoke from about 3:40 to 4:40 or so? That was some serious billowing stuff. Was that a mix of steam from the water hitting the fire and smoke, or just smoke pushing out from wind or.....?
The pressurized smoke/steam was a result of the ladder pipe being shot into the building to put the fire out (hence the steam) the volume of water caused for hydraulic ventilation which forced the smoke and steam out.
that smoke though - visual ASMR
crazy right?1
At 4:40 seeing all that steam pouring out just showed they got the heart of that fire whipped!
That was a powerful image for sure
Awesome video...🤗🤗
Thanks 🤗
Why the exterior attack, no venting the roof?? Smoke color indicates fire still burning.
No lives to save, steel trusses under heavy heat and fire for a while...not worth risking firefighters lives for no reason.
A sign by the take out window said “Since 1949”, that’s 75 years! It’s really unfortunate, employees lost their jobs and the town lost a long time restaurant.
I do not believe that location had been there since 1949...maybe that is how long they have been in business...but the restaurant was rebuilt and upgraded and back open in good time...I think employees were relocated to other stores to keep them employed
Did they try and push in? Or just smash all the windows? Look at the neutral plain in those window openings. Feeding a huge amount of fresh air into that structure. The smoke is lazy, not turbulent or really pushing which would indicate a smaller fire for the size of that structure.
Once the IC called it defensive the windows were opened…the fire went out without any issues and no injuries
Now that’s some smoky bbq
Overly
I’m glad that no one got hurt 🧑🚒
we are too!
Love how at 2:58 he’s complaining about them breaking every F’ing window 😂 we have a truck crew who does this on every fire and it frustrates the heck out of everyone. You lose all control of the fire and future ventilation efforts. Stop using tactics from the 80’s and 90’s. You can still be aggressive and not break out all the windows of the structure 😂
lessons need to be learned.
Great job getting this fire out Where was the building ?? --- Debbie

It looks like the Bono’s over near the Town Center (has since been rebuilt)
I'm amazed at around the 3:00 mark, the guys on the line, and the pike pole guys appear not to have gloves on. I hope that I'm mistaken, and incorrect. If so, that blows me away. Are you serious?
The general lack of PPE is pretty astounding from this crew. Standing at a window with not even your helmet on? Seems pretty off nominal.
The good thing is....NO INJURIES at this fire.
Thanks for your input.
@@thejfrd2490 mate, cancer and/or COPD does not show up the day after the fire.
I didnt realize that this was 4yrs ago
Crazy right?
6:15 I hear that Bell in many videos. What's it for?
The "bell" is the low air alarm, time to start coming out of the building.
at 0:40 what size line was that ? looks like they had their hands full with that one
It looked like a 2.5 in attack line.
Interesting that you would ask that question like you had an idea what you are talking about...yet not know enough to identify the size hose and its capabilities.....
Bingo!
@@thejfrd2490 replying to comments is always nice, unless you reply like an asshole for no reason
Did you just knock all the windows out and hit it from the outside?
It was a defensive attack with no lives to save.

ONE LINE ON THIS FIRE, NO LADDERING THE ROOF??
Prob truss roof. You go ahead up alone

Vertical ventilation
seems like too late for that? I was wondering though.
with that much smoke to a building that isn't that big and unknown where the seat of the fire is? I think the way we handled it was just fine thanks.
The fire was well advanced.
One look at that smoke and backdraft popped in my head. Was the place sealed up?? Glad that one nozzleman had his facepiece on. You never know. (Great video from a fire in Queens, NY a few years ago of how fast the backdraft hits.)
Tell the troops to KEEP THEIR GLOVES ON.
It was not sealed up...backdraft not an issue.
That sickly brownish yellow had blow up written all over it.
Yeah, I saw that in their video and stepped back. I was in one Backdraft as a FF in L-3 FDNY. No spank you. Did you see the clip from Queens NY 2 years ago??@@firecaptaintom

That smoke was looking to kaboom.
You think?
Going to be a delay on the Brisket.
they are back on track
The fire could have been easily controlled by making an interior attack. Not sitting outside spraying water …
and opening the roof
It is rare that we are criticized for not being aggressive enough.
I like your strategy. Minimal gain, Minimal risk. @@thejfrd2490
Hey guys the fire is in the cockloft, try opening the roof.
We appreciate your input...we believe we put the fire out pretty quickly without opening the roof...The best part about it, there are multiple ways to achieve the same outcome...either way, the building was severely damaged...we had no injuries and that is always the goal!
They need a bigger hose.
Is that what you think??
hot wings extra crispy
If that’s how you want to view it
Again flow path. Ventilate the roof smh
It wasn't necessary to put anyone up on that roof...there were no benefits.
Breaking all the windows out goes against what we learn in modern fire behavior. Keeping the fire "vent limited" is the best tactic in keeping the fire containable. Good job not entering the structure!
It was well advanced by the time we got there.
I do love some good smoked meat but this is ridiculous!

Kinda seemed like you guys did everything besides going in and fighting the fire. Obviously we can’t see 100% of the scene but from the footage it looks like minimal visible fire and it was all in the ceiling and walls
No lives to save...steel truss systems under severe heat and flame...what is the sense to go in and risk lives...the structure was done either way...someone gets hurt or dies, how do you explain that...we are an aggressive department, usually criticized for being too aggressive.
