As someone new to”actual” calligraphy, your video helped me immensely! I’ve done lettering since time immemorial, with no instruction or formalities…but couldn’t figure out why my attempts at calligraphy always came out so wonky. I did not realize, until now, how crucial the guidelines really are. I just figured making a top line & bottom line ought to do it, and thus concluded my calligraphy was trash and I probably just needed to give it up. So thank you for the detailed instructions & visuals, and for reviving my hope that there may be a calligrapher here after all…!

Sometimes, just one little thing (like guidesheets) can make a difference. I've heard from others who found it challenging and turns out it was just the paper. I totally encourage you to have fun with it and not to be hard on yourself - we all start somewhere and you can totally do this!! You'll get nothing but support and encouragement from me 😃
Hi Tamer, I just started following your site and I really enjoy your style and art. Can you please give us some details as to how you were able to create the unique color blending "Animals" using your parallel pen? Is that regular pen ink or acrylic paint? What color ink is in your pen? Thanks
Hi Roberte - thanks so much for the kind words! Great question! The color blending was made just by dipping the pen in another ink. The ink in the pen is a Violet Pilot Parallel Cartridge ink (they sell them as individual colors or in multi-color packs of 12) and I'm dipping in Liquitex Yellow acrylic ink 😃 Hope this helps!
