I already got 3 addtional copies sold from people I pulled into the first beta. That 20 dollar price tag + playing the game even a little = guaranteed sale.
it took this long for people to make third person mmo rpg seriously just look at all those cool mmo cinematic trailer I'm surprised they didn't make it sooner.
One thing that makes me feel positive about the future of the game is that it looks like on steam they sent out about conservatively around 4k - 5k invitations for the playtest and it consistently hovered around 3k players throughout the entire playtest. A few factors to consider is that the playtest took place on weekdays where most people are at work/school, so staying at 3k during the playtest is incredibly impressive.
Just wondering where you heard this. I hope this game pulls off the impossible and comes back swinging, but so many great games have come and gone. I'm a Battleborn vet and I want something that can scratch that itch, even if just a little bit.
i feel like I've grown up watching raynday. i remember when my friend had a crush on you when we watched the paladins patch note videos. i missed gigantic and im happy rayn is the one to bring the news 🙏
I'm also an OG player. Was also in the playtest. I am soooo glad this game's getting a Second Wind. I hope that your video (first I've heard of ya) and other big channels can help promote this game and give it the life it deserves!
Regardless of what happens, I am buying Gigantic day one. I'll pre order, if available. I NEVER pre order and think it's terrible. If they di add micro transactions I will buy as much as I can.
I honestly think the most likely thing here is that this game won't actually get much in the way of updates: They've said they're doing post-launch support, but they won't be able to keep that up forever without Microtransactions. We're getting a fully finished arena shooter with 25 characters, a suite of maps, and some fun skins to equip, fully finished, and using any steady trickle of new incoming players to keep the servers running and fund a little maintenance/bugfixes here and there. IF this game does well enough (I don't know what 'well enough' looks like on the financials side of this, but if Gearbox gets convinced that there's a dedicated playerbase that will support the game long term), then they keep the servers on for this game, and start development on Gigantic 2, which comes out in a few years, totally free to play, with new heroes, new maps, new game modes, updated systems/backend to run on modern machines, and the typical suite of Microtransactions we're used to with these kind of games. One big thing holding this game back is that it was developed in Unreal Engine 3, and it was made SEVEN YEARS ago. Back then, 60fps was all anyone was ever looking for, so this game is capped at that, with a lot of things in the physics engine tied to framerate so if you forcibly uncap the framerate, things start getting wonky. You can't just 'uncap' the FPS on this kind of game without rewriting a LOT of the game's code and doing a shitload of bugfixing, and all of this would be getting done in a VERY old engine that was notoriously unfriendly and annoying to work with even back when it was the newest one on the market. Tons of issues like this, from the lighting to the physics to the UI would need to be updated to current standards in order for this game to have any sort of longevity, and at that point you might as well make a new game. If Gearbox is smart, that's exactly what they'll do, and use this relaunch with the fixed 20$ price point to foster and cultivate a community to bring into the new one when it's ready.
I loved this game when it was first out, and played it a lot. I'm looking forward to playing it again. I still play hero shooters, mostly PvZ:GW2 with a little Paladins, as I quit OW years ago and TF2 has bot issues. We'll see how this goes, but with some of the QoL changes and a low price tag, it should do well.
Im thirsting for this game Gigantic was my favorite game I bought the founders edition for 3 of my friends to try to keep the game alive im buying this game for friend but Gigantic,Smite 2,and No Rest For The Wicked my 2024 is complete I dont need any other games lets go
I had 500+ hours in gigantic before it ever released. Overwatch wasn't even half the game. It never had its chance. Microsoft shit on its face. REmember that when you buy microsoft products.
It’s honestly up to the fanbase to spread the news of this game through word of mouth, if we all get at least 1-2 friends into it then it makes a huge difference
Thank you so much for showing this game off. It is the best new genre I've experienced and I missed it when it was gone. This game DESERVES this comeback. And at an even better time where it's fresh and new vs the overwatch debacle. I am so happy for its return and get back on a team for the tourneys to come
I played Battleborn from beta stage until the servers went down. I had over 2000 hours playtime. It easily became my favorite game of all time. ARK is my close second at 1200 hours. I will try Gigantic and hopefully makes me miss Battleborn less.
recent games like lethal company, palworld, and helldivers proves that not every new game has to be a free-to-play that's over reliant on micro transactions, OR to cost $60-$70 off the bat. an while it's still gonna be available on Xbox, it'll also be on steam and PlayStation, instead of JUST Xbox and Windows 10 all that PLUS abstraction and gearbox being behind the wheel this time... this game is gonna do MUCH better, it HAS to
I'm so sad I never heard of Gigantic before! It looks so cool! I've been playing League for over 10 years, Overwatch since beta, and dabbled in the HI-Rez games. I'm so excited to check this game out it seems right up my alley! My only worry for it is it's releasing the same day as the new Overwatch hero, which usually gets a ton of hype and people playing. So I hope it doesn't get overshadowed by that!
Seems like a bad. Idea, I get the companies motivation, but think about it. The OW success greatly came from console, because we didn't have any games like that. Now, we have a decent amount and even OW and games like PUBG that were once paid to play are now free. It's a bad idea. I'll be dropping 20 on release.
This game is new to me and I LOVE the look of the art style and character variety. There's so much personality to it. The tiny wizard guy is pretty much exactly what I've always wanted in a hero shooter, and the blue... bear(?) is so cute. I'll definitely be picking this up.
I know for a fact many of us overwatch veterans are looking for a new hero shooter. The overwatch devs have made so many poor changes, don't understand balance, and ignore community members who do. We're all just fed up. Overwatch is not what it used to be. Gigantic is looking really fun! I'm excited to play it.
I didnt even know of this games existence prior to last week, but I think this game has an opening rn in the current environment. Ill certainly be playing. I prefer entry price tags for comp games as its the best way to prevent cheating
I played gigantic daily back when it released in 2018, I've been waiting for the game to come back for so long, if u haven't given this game a try please do so, it is very very fun and is definitely worth the 20$, cannot wait for gigantics return
I didn't even know he was still doing content last time I remember was when he was doing smite. I love both gigantic and smite so much glad to see gigantic content
My problem is that old f2p games are better than buying new games. I think F2P and trusting in a whale is better than pushing away a majority of players at the beginning.
I agree. I ain’t a whale but if there’s a game I enjoy I tend to spend money but $20 for a game that was originally free and re-released is a big ask especially when you don’t know how long the game will stay supported.
Wishing Gigantic and gearbox the best but recent events regarding Paragon (again) really does concern me regarding this genre... Not to mention the state of Overwatch 2 itself. Hopefully gigantic lives on this time around for years to come. Similar to these games but not exactly moba, Spellbreak was my favorite but that one is also sunset unfortunately.
I loved the concept of spellbreak! It reminded me so much of gigantic, but sadly it felt like there wasn’t enough to keep me playing. There was a lot of potential with spellbreak that just couldn’t be achieved.
@@VChasseuse I understand you completely brother. I completely agree. Between the non stop content drops of Fortnite, an already established battle royale market with juggernauts like Apex and PUBG, it really couldn't land on its feet. As I recall, Blizzard acquired the studio and now they're working on World of Warcraft instead. At least they still have their jobs I guess, from what I've heard, they really saved World of Warcraft.
This game can be the best game gameplay wise, but if my team mates don't know or don't care about the objective then the overall experience will be lackluster, there is a reason why literally after hero shooters we had battle royales making success, it's because no one wants to carry team mates anymore
I used to watch content for this game but never rly tried it in its hayday, and have regretted it. Maybe now that OW has imploded and 2mite is alienating its playersbase we'll get to see this one actually thrive. Whihc it deserves, it's way better than most soulless MOBAs on the market
I love that its not free to play I didn't get into some other games because I had to pay to unlock anything and I got sick of it! This is a great change, so I can feel rewarded when I do missions to unlock anything
I loved gigantic. Unfortunately them letting 5 stacks pub stomp all day really killed the game for normies. I won every game I played for weeks at a time. If you solo q you were doomed to lose so made it not very fun. Needs a solo/duo queue or something to ever be fun to pub.
I still have the og downloaded on my console and I never forgot about it. Every year me and my friends would reminisce the game and when I heard that the game was returning I couldn’t believe it. I’m so happy that this game is making a comeback and I hope it gets the love it deserves
This game came at a weird time, and if it had been made by pre Activision Blizzard or Riot, I'm sure it would've done much better. I'm glad it came back, because I could never afford a good enough pc to play it back then. I do think they should've monetize cosmetics, or they will not make enough revenue to be sustainable, because there is a ton of competition right now as a whole on coop and multiplayer, that not enough people may gravitate to it, or are already invested on other games.
I think right now is more than a better time since overwatch is in shambles and paladins in my opinion is not in a great position either. This will definetly be the refresher people need at the moment from the hero shooter genra.
This good news gives me the first bit of hope in a long time that we might see Battleborn come back to life? I truly loved that game, even with its logistical issues. I think that people are starting to get tired of OW and I hope Gigantic sets a precedence that there are games that just came out at the wrong time that could do very well now!
I played it for the first time with the previous event, It's a truly unique game, but i'm concerned about its longevity with the price tag. $20 is a tough sell for any new pvp ip rn, but especially for a 7 year old game that's died once, won't recieve significant development updates in future, and frankly, lacks some modern features. The unique mechanics + the high ttk = it takes times to learn, even I found it kinda frustrating at first [and i play hero shooters/mobas] But If they're williing to polish it some more, it has tonnes of potential.
If we want the game to succeed we need to tell everyone about it. We can market the game by word of mouth
Absolutely
Gearbox will do all the marketing it needs, but the more the merrier
