It's great that they wrote Amicia as a sister rather than a hero. This is an incredibly hard time for her and it feels like it. She's constantly going through emotions, and she's not always in control of her situation or even herself at times. The writers never forget that she's a teenager who's been through the wringer multiple times, and it makes the story feel more about people than characters.
The bit about butchers being looked down upon for their profession reminds me a lot of how people look down on garbage collectors or janitors. Society would not survive without them, and yet people treat them awfully
That's true. Also, I don't think in medieval europe that people looked down on butchers, but who they feared and secluded were executioners. That's why they hid their faces and often were required to live outside the city, so people couldn't shun them.
@@evilal20 that’s honestly terrible..you do what others won’t and I have Hella respect for you. I mean puking kids and nasty bathrooms. I can’t even imagine..
oh, I thought the overaction fits the situation. This is an intense situation. If it was like a normal comedy/non intense situation sure, but I believe it fits here
Despite the heaviness of the plot, the atmosphere and music make this game so calming somehow to me. I am loving the series. And even if it takes longer for these episodes to come out, that’s fine. There is not enough time for all the games that come out lol.
I love Amicia and her complex journey. I think her anxiety is when she feels like she can't do things but I also have a theory the macula is also effecting her somehow, like she ends up in this "berserker" mode. After all, I don't know any situations where someone can go from anxiety to murdering a squad of armored adults.
it would make sense that she's also being effected by the Macula, since she is Hugo's sister (and, as far as we know, that's full-blooded biological sister, not half or adopted). She might have less Macula in her blood than Hugo, or maybe it only affects boys 🤔 yet again, adrenaline and determination are powerful drugs, and can make people do weird shit 🤷
I'm wondering if what Amicia is experiencing is PTSD from the initial encounter with the rats(first game). It makes sense that she would be struggling so much now that she's reliving the same trauma.
I’d bet so. She had a period where she felt safe (still with the nightmares and not truly believing it was over). It’s gonna be more severe when she makes it through.
We saw that when she’s in the house when Hugo was having a sleep. She remembers her vision in the first game of the inqresition taking her brother. Her ptsd isn’t related to the rats. But to the idea that she will lose her brother again. Imagine. Your a older sibling and your mother wish before you think your mother dies is to look after your little brother. That is a huge responsibility and as shown. Hugo is her entire world. She would do anything for him. Even kill people for him. And with the rats back. There’s a chance she can lose him again
I think it also has to do with her having to kill. She knows she has no choice and it’s for Hugo, but when she has a minute of respite you can see it really affects her. A good example is when she is running from the farmers she pleads for them to stop but when she has to kill and after she is shaking. The same when she is in The Arena.
Hey Gab, two quick tips, there're sometimes where you can throw ignifer/extinguis/tar by hand instead of the sling, that way is quicker and noiseless, it could save you some trouble, also if you come across a piece of red fabric hanging with a knife, it means there's a souvenir nearby, if you're interested in collecting those. Great playtrough, i'm loving it, greetings from Mexico!
I do think its funny how many people Amicia has killed for Hugo alone, its ironic and sad. They don’t deserve it and the cost of them surviving is really high.
Absolutely love this story, and I'm so happy you're recording more of it so I get to watch it with you. I've been holding off on watching it on other channels even though it's been super tempting, lmao.
I really love how Hugo and Lucas still can find excitement in such a depressing, hopeless moment with the prospect of learning more about the boat near the end. That was brilliant by the devs. I know kids are awful 75% of the time ( I have one) but good Christ the amount of times my daughter has found a little hope in the dark astounds me.
I love how they’ve written Amicia. She feels like a real person, with trauma, fears, and flaws. Her choices and reactions make sense! She’s so young, and her childhood has been completely taken away from her less than a year ago. Her whole world since the beginning of this rat infested journey has been Hugo’s safety….and if he dies, a huge chunk of Amicia will die with him. The stakes are high, you can really feel it. I’m excited to watch more! PS. I’m very glad Lucas made it to the second game. He’s my favorite character in the first game, and I think he and Amicia balance each other out well. You can tell their friendship has only grown since we’ve seen them last, and you can see how much they respect each other, more than Amicia does her own mother. I was greatly impressed with the way she and Lucas solved their conflict between themselves, both apologizing and seeing things from the others perspective. It’s a very mature and compassionate way to handle it, especially when the subject matter is so dark and them being so young.. It’s refreshing to see that
:D It was my first time seeing Plague Tale when you posted Part 1 and I really enjoyed it so I went back and watched your playthrough of the first game in the meantime so the little delay in between was perfect for me to get caught up with the story :D ! Im so excited now to see where this story will go!
I'm really really loving this game so far. Hugo is adorable and clearly both so horrified by what he is doing subconciously but also so determined to get better. Amicia as his guardian is just so amazing - I love their relationship, I love that it shows Amicia falling into panic because that's literally the only realistic way to go about this. Also Lucas as secondary lead is awesome, I love that Amicia is pretty much being guided by the hand by this intelligent young boy. I hope the game doesn't switch up on us and we get a lot more of them together. I don't like the mom, she keeps undercutting her children because she thinks she knows better when really, she's just not listening. The graphics, the story, the horrific nature of what's going on around these characters. It's all just so interesting.
Yeah the mum is really off in this one. I liked her in the first game, she was definitely a fighter and you could see a lot of where amicia got her resolve and strength from. In this she's cold, distant and just irritating
True. But it’s also how parents react when they know there child is dying. Just like in the modern world. Some parents will go to doctors Abd know what the doctor is saying isn’t true. But goes along with it cause they believe the doctor knows best cause of there knowledge in the matter. Just like with the mother and the order. She knows deep down it’s wrong. But she wants to believe the order knows what there doing and she can’t see any other way

This is my first Plague Tale playthrough. This makes me so excited to go back and watch the playthrough of the first game. I love that Amicia is humble and understands what a hero and doing something that you would do for a loved one in crisis are not the same thing. She doesn't consider herself a hero even though she's done incredibly brave things.
Don’t apologize for taking a bit longer to get us part 2! I managed to finish watching your play through of the first game because if it. I wouldn’t have managed to catch up on time otherwise :)
I’m obsessed w this game it is absolutely remarkable! The concept, the graphics, the voice acting, atmosphere all of it is done so well. And I absolutely love how gab plays, she takes it seriously but makes the odd joke when appropriate, and I really appreciate that, sometimes too many jokes can pull me out of the experience. The chase scene was perfection! I’m not a fan of chase scenes, if they’re done well they can be amazing, but if not it can really bring down the game by pulling you out of it. Especially if paths aren’t clear or there’s bugs, if looking back kills you so you never get a good dose of adrenaline not knowing what is after you or how far back it is, or if the path is uninteresting and overly simplified. This game didn’t do any of that the path was clear but they cleverly blocked some directions w the rats to keep you going the right way, no dying multiple times. It was flawless. Such a great game.

Amicia's character has really changed alot, she improved on her skills but her emotions are what carrying her character as a whole even more, she really wants to save her Brother Hugo no matter the cost and I am here for it, this game is truly amazing!
Amicia having PTSD and anxiety from the first game is so well thought thru and really shines in the perfomance of her voice actress. I feel stressed and scared just like she does from just watching. So amazing
Charlotte Mcburney is SO TALENTED omg she’s amazing as Amicia she makes it feel so real and she speaks with so much emotion in her voice you don’t even have to see her face to guess the emotion she’s trying to project ❤
When I was younger my brother and I played legend of zelda together lots. I'd do the puzzles and he'd do the fighting. That memory popped up when you mentioned people used to be rude. There's things that you do while playing that have me going "wait! you missed it!" but also "woah, I'd never think of that". Just like how my brother and I used to do. And that's why I love watching. Playing this game myself would be stressful and not at all fun, but watching you I get to enjoy it. So thanks for the unexpected nostalgia trip lol
I think that it's more of PTSD and panic attacks rather than just anxiety. But I have to say I like that they did this. It makes the character of Amicia more realistic. Realistic reactions to the Hell she went through months prior.
Thanks for more of this. I've been itching to see more ^^ About 18:24 Well, people throughout the years have adopted to your style of gameplay, and those who like your style have stayed while others left. Call it the natural culling of the audience hehehe.
Tip! when you make tar, fire, or smoke stuff, it creates it for all of your available weapons (sling, pots, etc.) you just gotta choose which to use. Love your vids! You’re the only gamer I watch anymore lol
Yay! I just got home from a long day at work, today was the first actually cold day we've had over in WA State, which wasn't too bad but 39 degrees F, and this is the perfect entertainment to help me unwind and start off my weekend! Thanks Gab, or Evelyn! Love watching you play!
I'm glad this game is back! I love it a lot! I'm really intrigued with Amicia as a character. With being so young and having to handle basically keeping everyone alive and staying sane. And we're seeing the effects that has on her. I'm curious to see how it's paired with her being the Protector since they seem to be linked in some way
I actually appreciated the week break because it allowed me the chance to go back and watch the first game play through! I’m not over Rodrick though! Great video as always!❤
i did a goblin screech when i saw you posted the part 2!! i loved part one so much i went back and watched your older videos about plague tale and have been waiting for this like.... you know what i can't think of a comparison i'm just excited
"Turns out he just had a backdoor straight to here" It's like those Zelda temples where you go through hell to get to the final room and then you find there's just an opening to the sky and you could have just climbed a tree to get inside or something.
Unfortunately, consulting the Order is the best route. There's information about where the island is located somewhere and the best place to look is with the scholars of the Order. Gotta play along and just make the island seem like a mere curiosity until you know what direction to take
Always felt badly for those few soldiers who aren't out to get you that die anyway. Though, in the first one, when you come across the man where he's begging you not to push the rats into him, you _can_ actually save him if you notice the extinguished torch he's under. For me, it makes me feel just a little bit better after having had to take out so many people (though by the time Hugo got put into that cage I'd had enough and rampaged through that encampment and took down every soul in it, lol).
I ike the detail on the allignment of the planets: Lucas says that the sun is at the centre and that the order of the planets is not right because back in the Middle Ages, people still thought that the earth was the centre point (at least I hope that that's a nod to that, and that the planet puzzle is more than a puzzle hehehe)
Thanks bunches for continuing this series!! I just watched the 1st game and you did so well I was amazed!! I'm not good at these sorts of games lol so I watch people be good at them instead!! Hehe. Loving the story, should tweet again about what different horror books people have been liking lately!!! I'm always so curious. What about you? Read any great horror books recently? Thanks again ^_^
All that anxiety and pacing... boy that hits home. That's how I look whenever I leave the house in the morning! Boy, panic attacks come in all kinds of forms, huh?
They are excellent questions, but I can't answer you either of those questions because it would spoil the whole story. You can keep watching the whole playthrough to come, and find out for yourself.
Just a clarification on the weapons wheel for you, Gab. When you were needed to create and throw a tar pot, what the game has you doing is creating the tar which then is stored in the middle of the circle, then you can choose which weapon you want to use it with. So, you aren’t making a tar pot, but are using the tar in combination with the pot. I hope that makes sense and helps!
Lucas really is the main character, that boy is unkillable. Also don't apologise for time between videos/episodes or being "late" to a game there is no such thing as being late especially when it's about a game you get to it when you get to it, you have a life to live and we'll be here when you do upload. Probably could have worded that better but you get my meaning.
I like how your choice of ether making her a killer to get things done or a silent person getting through without killing can work into her character If she kills. It’s cause she’s getting revenge for people that were killed. But if she’s silent. Then she’s not focus on revenge but her brother
When you use the sling only do a 1/2 second wind up to avoid the guards from noticing you . If the fire jars mixed with the 0.7 seconds you can walk threw the rats before dying. You can trick the guards into walking into the rats to save ammo. I'm pretty sure some new techniques can be used in this game vs the origional game . I think you can still aim at guard light to get them eaten instead of you. Unless, they use the guarded fire lanters .
I always look forward on your game play of this game because your voice calms me down and the game is very interesting! Looking forward for the next chapters! :)
Also, really enjoying your playthrough. I enjoy your down to earth and more importantly- non-screamy, style of commentary. There are a few other channels that have released the entire playthrough which measures to 12 HRS in length (Holy Bleep!) but I'm saving watching this for your runthrough. Important note for sum reson: The few of the 'screamy' youtuber gamers I was thinking of are male.
I love the way Amicia got so utterly devoted and attached to Hugo through the first one and here it shows how devastated she would be if she lost him. She acts so much more like a mother to him than the mother actually does. She couldn't even Calm him from a Nightmare ffs...
Oh and that last thing he said before you ended the stream, what test?! The mother is like trying to fulfill a prophecy/a fate/ or an alchemy theory... She studied this her whole life, and tried to slow the macula and now she's utterly useless 🤔
@@Estarya right??? Beatrice went from being seen as a vital source of information on Hugo’s condition in the first game, to being completely out of the loop in the second. I don’t understand why she’s okay with letting her son die a horrible death, locked up in a tower, instead of being out there exhausting every possible option to save him. Even if the island is “just a legend!” Fuck that! He’s gonna die if they don’t do SOMETHING. Everyone is looking at Amicia like she is the insane one, when she’s the only one talking sense! And that dude totally egged Hugo on, probably to see how far he has until the threshold or something. Completely irresponsible, and I’m glad he’s dead.
lmao, So I was in the middle of drawing (cause I listen/watch playthroughs while I'm doing drawing to help my ADHD brain stay on task) yet when she said "I don't think the answer to anxiety is murder" I laughed so hard I couldn't draw for a few minutes. Nicely done fam.
Throughout the game Amicia suffered from trauma which she never really had time to recover from, not really anxiety; although the excess trauma transformed into anxiety only compounding her stress further. The writers further compounded the issue with hateful guards (no logic) and possibly a pushed-along storyline. Lucus appears to be another tool by the writers to undermine a strong female character with "don't/stop killing them," even though they themselves are hunted... and at a later point to be hung (yeah, that's good writing).
I don't know any anecdotes about butchers in general. But nobles were expected to go on hunts in times of peace to prepare for war. When an animal was killed, they'd be expected to prepare the animal then and there on site, this prepared them for the blood and gore of the battlefield. So butchering animals did not hold any special connotations.
I saw other ppl commenting about watching your first video and then watching your videos of the first game! Me too! I loved watching them while patiently and happily waiting for the next one! I kind of miss the French accents if only because we got to hear Hugo say “ackey duck” XD Also in the 6 months or so of in game time that passed Lucas must have hit puberty cuz his voice sure do be deeper 😂
The rats are kept thinking of the money python joke about weight ratios and how in this instance because there's so many their sheer force will be able to even break through concrete despite being relatively light creatures
Been waiting for you to post this video and once I seen you posted this, I immediately wanted to click it and watch it. This series is so good that my sleep schedule is all messed up lol. Can't wait for the next episode to come😁

Realistic reactions to the Hell she went through months prior.
the eat manefesto 1:48:26 i love the violin affect in the background
*'gasp'*
"Puberty!!"
Might have been one of the funniest moments ever.
Devastatingly out of place in the situation but that made it even better. :D
The character dynamics are just *chef’s kiss*
Thanks for more of this. I've been itching to see more ^^
About 18:24
Well, people throughout the years have adopted to your style of gameplay, and those who like your style have stayed while others left. Call it the natural culling of the audience hehehe.
1:07:09 She protec, she attac, but more importantly she avoid the rat!
Tip! when you make tar, fire, or smoke stuff, it creates it for all of your available weapons (sling, pots, etc.) you just gotta choose which to use.
Love your vids! You’re the only gamer I watch anymore lol
Hopefully this made sense, I’m no good at explaining things 😂
been waiting on part 2, 2 hours of peak enjoyment coming up
It is more likely PTSD what for the events of the first game.
1:47:31 idk why but i just laugh because of her tone.
She was like "I told them!..." then she mad 😂
it's fascinating to see Amicia go through these turmoils and essentially see how anger and anxiety takes over.
loved this game so much. Not very often are sequels better but this one definitely was.
Lucas is the brother that Amicia never had. They do work great together. But add Hugo and his powers in the mix,.. you got a formidable team.
"Turns out he just had a backdoor straight to here" It's like those Zelda temples where you go through hell to get to the final room and then you find there's just an opening to the sky and you could have just climbed a tree to get inside or something.
This game is so beautiful! Can't wait for the next episode!
Unfortunately, consulting the Order is the best route. There's information about where the island is located somewhere and the best place to look is with the scholars of the Order. Gotta play along and just make the island seem like a mere curiosity until you know what direction to take
Gab's playthroughs are so immersive! I love it
Always felt badly for those few soldiers who aren't out to get you that die anyway.
I ike the detail on the allignment of the planets: Lucas says that the sun is at the centre and that the order of the planets is not right
because back in the Middle Ages, people still thought that the earth was the centre point
(at least I hope that that's a nod to that, and that the planet puzzle is more than a puzzle hehehe)
I like how Lucas says combine tar and pot and throw it between the bassins. And Gabby just slingshot 2x tar in the bassin and waste it 😂
Amicia: Kills a small garrison with her sling
Lucas: "... herbs?"
13:40 ugh I can smell that smell even 5 years since I last actually smelled that sort of rot. Like a billion rancid farts straight into the nose.
All that anxiety and pacing... boy that hits home. That's how I look whenever I leave the house in the morning! Boy, panic attacks come in all kinds of forms, huh?
you seem to have forgotten you can throw a spark bomb to clear rats. You reset/died when you didn’t need to.
I wonder if it means anything that the bird Hugo keeps seeing is a phoenix, birds reborn through fire. And the rats are afraid of fire/light
They are excellent questions, but I can't answer you either of those questions because it would spoil the whole story. You can keep watching the whole playthrough to come, and find out for yourself.
As a sufferer of severe chronic anxiety, I feel like at least a little murder as a treat might help.
I love how everyone went and watched gab’s first game play through before coming to this
1:38:12 Fun fact, You can make the soldier live and not get killed by the rats. You will get an achievement of "mercy"
"Do it! Kill meeeee!" Honestly, big mood lol
This game is just amazing! And the story is so interesting!
I am sick so this is a perfect thing to curl up and watch with my cats❤️
I’m so happy your viewers’ attitude is changing positively enough for you to mention it - you’re the best ❤
I like how your choice of ether making her a killer to get things done or a silent person getting through without killing can work into her character
If she kills.
Gab: Bweeeh-buh
Game: And I took the personally.
Silly Gab, doesn't even recognize she can do this.....
it’s funny how you don’t even think twice about killing despite the dialogue between Lucas and Amicia clearly suggesting it’s a point of contention. 😅
have noticed in general you’re very good at separating story immersion from gameplay. It’s a skill I sadly don’t have 😅
I love the way Amicia got so utterly devoted and attached to Hugo through the first one and here it shows how devastated she would be if she lost him.
Can someone point me to where gab references “You got a lovely smile.” I literally laugh every time she says it 😂

@@GabSmolders thank you Gab ❤
I kept refreshing youtube the whole day because I felt like you were going to upload the video today x) can't wait for what's next!
lmao, So I was in the middle of drawing (cause I listen/watch playthroughs while I'm doing drawing to help my ADHD brain stay on task) yet when she said "I don't think the answer to anxiety is murder" I laughed so hard I couldn't draw for a few minutes. Nicely done fam.
I am excited to see where the story goes with this game. I watched your playthrough of the first game so I glad I get to watch you play this one.
"come on move quick"- yt: perfect time for an ad about a drink!
God I love this game. Can't wait for the next part, thank you Gab!
They outdid themselves with this sequel.
the amount of whispering in this game is too much😂 like an asmr video
I don't know any anecdotes about butchers in general. But nobles were expected to go on hunts in times of peace to prepare for war. When an animal was killed, they'd be expected to prepare the animal then and there on site, this prepared them for the blood and gore of the battlefield. So butchering animals did not hold any special connotations.
Did you know Lucas’ VA is nick from heartstopper: kit Connor
i must say i absolutely love this series so much i can't wait for another episode :DD
I hope they turn this game into a movie,Great story and plot is amazing and beautiful background;Keep up awesome and amazing job Gab 👍
I don’t mind the waiting at all! I’m so happy to watch this game on this channel :) I remember watching the first game here too ~
I love this game and its placements, so impressing and really accurate, i'm enjoying your gameplays so much, let's go rat pals!
The rats are kept thinking of the money python joke about weight ratios and how in this instance because there's so many their sheer force will be able to even break through concrete despite being relatively light creatures
Butchers were fairly well regarded in west, they make food, after all. It was executioners who were distrusted.
Been waiting for you to post this video and once I seen you posted this, I immediately wanted to click it and watch it. This series is so good that my sleep schedule is all messed up lol. Can't wait for the next episode to come😁
Them hiding the existence of the island makes me wonder if they actually want to keep the carriers alive and use the power instead.
