I am sort of picturing Savras and Azuth like two primary school kids fighting pver who gets to be the teacher’s pet (with Mystra being the teacher). XD
Selune is one goddess that really sounds appealing in all aspects, especially for werewolves. I actually made a male Chaotic Good Fighter/Cleric character in Neverwinter Nights that worships her.
Yeah cause it's just pure good vs pure evil. If your good you have no reason to not follow Selune or at least pray to her. Since theirs no downside to praying to her cause its not like you have to sacrifice something of value to her. Kind of like Mystra just instead of powerful magic you just need to be good.
Well done with this video series, but may I please offer a suggestion? In my experience, playing a divine caster in FR requires a deep knowledge of both Realms history and of the dogma of the major deities. It is a very roleplay-intensive thing to do. While you offer up a good summary of each of the deities and their clergy, I think a lot of people would find it helpful if you included some more information on specific things like 'actions that a cleric of Selune would never abide' or 'beings whom paladins of Lathander would kill on sight' or 'things that a druid of Mielikki would find abhorrent' or 'magic items that a priest of Kelemvor would love'. It's stuff like that that makes or breaks a divine caster's credibility in FR. I think more information like that might help people with their character ideas. Thank you, sir!
On your question of Mielikki and Myrkul sharing the portfolio of autumn, Mielikki took the autumn portfolio form Myrkul when the god of death died in the Time of Troubles.
Hi Jorphdan, fun vid again! In the coming weeks, you will have Talona, while goddesses like Mielikki, Loviatar are from our own world’s religion who have traveled to the Forgotten Realms, and Ilmatar in the Forgotten Realms is allied to our own world’s Finnish Ilmatar, Talona KILLED her Finnish equivalent, or her aspect of Kipu - totto, and laid waste to the Nethril city Asram in their wake.
Savras is that one deity I always forget about. Which is kind of ironic, looking at his portfolio... All in for Selune though! My 2nd ever (A)D&D character was a Bariaur Cleric of Selune. Died to a random Lightning Bolt in the Hive of Sigil. Fun times.
My first ever character that I made for myself was a dwarf life cleric who Drew a long complicated series of events Ended up in water deep and spent a couple years worshiping and learning healing magic from the church of Sellune
Awesome! Full disclosure I’m playing dungeons and dragons for the first time as a freshman in college, I’m pretty terrible with combat in any game, outside of Pokémon but that’s neither here nor there, So I wanted to be a support class, so… Claric This was intended to sabotage my friends curse of Strad campaign but one thing led to another and we haven’t played that game in literally months So after coming back from winter break we decided to join another friends campaign, so we took my original Claric and appropriately leveled her down to be level one I went through the first two sessions doing the typical healing and occasional combat but I realized after getting an inspiration dye from basically giving a tortured persons last rights that I didn’t know what God I was worshiping… My Claric is a mountain dwarf with a fairly convoluted backstory so, I decided to do some research into Dwarven guods, long story short wasn’t really impressed with any of them, So I started doing research into the life domain, some struck out to me and then I realized there was a church of Hope, My character pretty much had a crappy upbringing so when I found out that I googled it, Found this God and continue to do research And now I’m here, about to become a worshiper of her
I loved it Jorphdan! Big fan of Savras here. \o/ Thanks a lot for educating people on Forgotten Realms. Have you played the entire Baldur's Gate saga? It's my alltime favorite
I haven't, I'm about 3/4 of the way through the first one. Then I got distracted by Planescape Torment. And now I'm distracted by Neverwinter Nights! #sigh too many games :)
I know how it feels like hahaha Good luck in your forgotten realms adventures! You would love Baldur's Gate 2 as well, it is improved in everyway from BG1.
i recently read "Mistress of the Night" which featured the Selune faith. it was so freaking good. really surprised me, lots of grea tmagic and faith conflicts. thanks for the great videos, im requesting a SHAUNDAKUL video!
Im thinking about playing a Shardar-kai Cleric of Selune. I wanted to play a Twilight cleric but now seeing how Selune, my character's deity and Shar, their creator seems like an interesting thing. Maybe Shar sees this and is trying to ease my cleric into a darker path since she rivals her sister. I have considered multiclass with this character to Shadow Sorcerer. This is really something intresting to try out!
All the priest pictures are from the book "Faiths and Avatars" there's a link in the video description to the book on drivethru RPG. If I hit my next goal on patreon I'll make two videos a week and the others will be on Eberron :)
I think it's better to use your usual pronunciation of Selune in all other videos. It's better to have one video being the outliar rather than have a big part be mispronounced, one correct, and then the rest have a "Selune, or Seluné, did blablabla..." in every video forward. That said I really love these videos. I'm so bad at pantheons and gods and their relations but I also have a cleric and a paladin in my party so these help me get me up to speed a lot!
I think there is much more lore info of Selune that could be told here... some of this vids i think you just read the 5e books and thats it, but in others you went to the 3rd edition or even 2nd edition. Is it time or lack of enthusiasm about some gods? For me the lore of the Realms is amazing and i mostly enjoy it how you went through it. So anyway keep it up.
I am sort of picturing Savras and Azuth like two primary school kids fighting pver who gets to be the teacher’s pet (with Mystra being the teacher). XD
Selunites are known as "Lunatics" and "swords of the lady".
-Innkeeper Vase Odin
Those are different groups in the church

I figured you'd put Selune and Shar in the same video, but hey, we are now two steps closer to Tymora. :)
Yeah after I made the video I realized I should have done that... Oh well Shar is next week 😀
Well done with this video series, but may I please offer a suggestion?

I'll keep it in mind thanks 😀
I am enjoying these immensely. A big hello from Western Australia. Cheers

Good to know thanks!!

And of course Selune was a bartender in Waterdeep before the Time of Troubles.
You have no ideia of how much this series helped me, thank you, mate.
game on sir!
I have a cleric of Savras in my game. This was great intel.
My first ever character that I made for myself was a dwarf life cleric who Drew a long complicated series of events
Ended up in water deep and spent a couple years worshiping and learning healing magic from the church of Sellune
Thank you Jorphdan!
Savras finally sounds like a god I could worship, truth for all heck yes please it's what the world needs.
i play an oath of devotion paladin of savras in my game!
Savras, just in time for my game
Awesome!

Always good work, homie.
Thanks! :D
I believe there's a temple of Savras in Port Nyanzaru (probably butchered that spelling) in tomb of annihilation
Oh I checked and shockingly I actually spelled that right
i recently read "Mistress of the Night" which featured the Selune faith. it was so freaking good. really surprised me, lots of grea tmagic and faith conflicts.

Okay, but I think the God we all want to hear about is the mighty Pun-Pun
Tinkle tinkle hoy
Im going to play dnd with some friends and we apparently need a cleric so I’m just trying to find a god. These videos are helping :)
That's great to hear! Good luck and have a blast :D
you're the best!
Love it love vids man
2 questions. 1, where did you get the pictures of all the priests? And 2, will you do videos about Eberron after these?
All the priest pictures are from the book "Faiths and Avatars" there's a link in the video description to the book on drivethru RPG.
If I hit my next goal on patreon I'll make two videos a week and the others will be on Eberron :)
soo combine power of shar and selune gives pure magick
Twilight domain firbolg or Goliath for me (haven’t decided yet)
Anyone think The Vistani worship Savrus?

great vid :D how long till tiamat??
FloBotsInc Tiamat and Bahamut aren't proper Gods in Forgotten Realms...
soo he's gonna leave out one of the coolest gods just cuz its not "proper" in TFR ? JORPHDAN DONT DO THAT TO ME MAN...its fucking tiamat xD
FloBotsInc i think he already told that he is gonna make vids about other gods like Moradin and more.
:D
How are they not proper God's? They are in the PHB.
I'll pronounce it how it's spelled, And it's not Selûné, so to me, the -e is silent.
Selune 2:53
Why does this guy call his description the "dooblidoo"?
It's a common meme among RUclipsrs apparently, lots of them do it.
