- ( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2020 Lexus RX is a redesigned version of the brand's best-selling model, and this RX 350L version is supposedly the most practical with a three-row configuration. But even with the fresh looks and updated tech, there is one drawback with this crossover against some of its family hauler competition.

Finally I can tell my wife that 3.4 inches means a lot!
LOL!
Finally some humor!
David Seinen You get a 🏆, and a 🥇, and a 👍🏻. ☺️
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@ David Seinen hahaha good one lol
No! You have to tell her the extra 3.4 inches don't mean anything. So no Chads and no Tyrones for her.
Hands down the lexus brand is the best automaker in the world just look at their past vehicle 15 years later they are on the road and running like new!!! And they are still worth more than any other automaker!!!
I’d buy an ES right now if I had the money, only $4,000 (11.2%) more than the Avalon yet it rides like a dream.
@japanwatchconnection not even close shows how little you know, that goes to GM.
ayeeee a lexus fan boi tooo
Lexi The Lexus im
Not a fan boy its the truth and if anyone disagrees then they are not in touch with reality
your my hero :)
I mean put it this way, if you can afford a full size truck these days, you can afford a Lexus SUV lol.
soo true
The 3rd row has 2 positions. It can be further backward a bit more. Yes the whole seat. After you folded the seat down with 2 beeps, release the button and press it again until you hear a longer beep. Then raise the seat again. It will now set itself to the other seating position.
Thank you Nathan for mentioning the 3rd row space problem, given the pressure you guys get from manufacturers to just praise their vehicles. I'm actually disappointed at Lexus for the uncalled for compromise.
Yep, it's terrible...
its not that bad!!!!!! people are blowing it out of proportion
Bloody terrible cheaters ...Lexus
I think my 94 Grand Marquis had a similar color... Love the green color..Awesome video..Thanks Nathan
Once I passed the learning curve with the trackpad, I LOVE IT! Very easy to you. Awesome SUV. I will continue to drive the Lexus brand until I'm unable to drive. Dependability, fit and finish are top notch.
Great colour, great interior... Love the brand
A couple items of your review I totally agree with:
1. Interior comfort and superb driving position are second to none.
2. The harmony at play between the engine and transmission is just amazing.
3. Safety, Safety, Safety. The adaptive cruise, lane keep, and blind spot warning features are premium.
4. Lexus parts and service from 0530-2300 daily for my area is amazing.
5. FYI, The seatbelt reminder only hyperventilates while after ignoring polite reminders and while actually in motion driving.
its not that big of a deal, its for kids not designed to be a minivan
Lexus is one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. I had the second generation with over 200000 miles and now the last of the third generation, the 3.5 v6 engine is bullet proof the ride is smooth as silk and very reliable both never let me a down. The 2020 fourth gen is next. Toyota/Lexus for life. 👍
I love Lexus products they are really stepping up their game making some beautiful SUVs and cars. For some reason be looking at Lexus vehicles past few days my favorites are ES and RX that green color brings out luxury of this crossover. Out of all the expensive vehicles as much love Infiniti think Lexus is above when comes to styling I'd take a Lexus or Acura seem would enjoy a Lexus more. This SUV is definitely worth the money overlook BMW, Acura, Audi, Mercedes my last purchase would be Lexus get so much as Lexus has less problems and hold better value.
ayyeye eme too @@@@
Where did you learn your English grammar? One long sentence... whew...
Love this review, Nathan hits the RX right on the button!
i love the rx too, can u tell hahahha
I still see quite a few First Generation RXs on the roads look good and run strong despite being couple decades old.
11:50...closing a door or window in my Lexus bring always a smile in my face ....dont know why testers didnt notice . its so damn quiet after closing the door inside ! Opening the cupholders in my predecessor is my favourite thing to show guests....that´s poetry !!
My first car in high school was a 98 Mercedes ML 320 and now I have a 07 RX350. I’ve been kinda bored with the car because there’s really nothing you can do to it as far as aftermarket performance upgrades, but the RX really wasn’t built for that. It was built to last. I’ve had it since 2016, it now has 210k miles and I’ve had zero problems with it. Super reliable, comfortable, and practical. My mom has a 2017 XT5 and my backseat is arguably more comfortable than hers. I also wish the RX had a little bit more power (07 had around 270hp), but it gets up and goes whenever I need it to. Nathan described this vehicle perfectly. Also can’t wait to see what you guys will do with the new ML 320
They should market the ‘L” trim as more cargo room and eliminate the 3rd row seat as its unusable !!!
they are usable tho
@@lexithelexus7377 for groceries u mean?
Gorgeous Lexus, love the video. I would definitely get it with a liter interior.
My family absolutely loves our 2016 RX450h! We keep saying the only thing that could make it better is if it was full electric like our Tesla Model 3! But, it is leaps and bounds better built, quieter, and more comfortable than any car in our stable (second to only our 1999 Land Cruiser)!
really, i wanted the hybrid version!!!
I luv the Lexus’s too..i got one myself to be exact RX full luxury package nice 👍🏾
Well for one the 3rd row on the new Rx is small, however it does come with the option of re-adjusting the 3rd seat giving an additional 3-4 inches of space. I don't think that was shown here, but the tradeoff is you lose that much in storage....
As usual always great objective information from y'all !!! Thank you great video
Very good reviw mister!!!
Awesome video Nathan !!!!!
My mother in law had a '17 rx350, beautiful car and awesome ride. She traded it in for a 2019 Porsche Cayenne hybrid and she absolutely HATES her new Porsche. She let me use it a couple times and I understand why she hates it so bad lol. Now she wants the RX350 again, so the Porsche is for sale 😂
When a two year old car is just too old. Smh.
Lexus all the way.
J J I keep telling my in laws "if I had your money, I would burn it".
ᚺᚨᛗᛗᛖᚱᚺᛖᚨᚱᛏ lol, my mother has the 2016 RX350, brother in law has the 2019 cayenne , I understand what you mean !
I guess we will never know why your MIL hates her Porsche...
There's that universal respect for Lexus again, well done Lexus you deserve this huge respect ,I do love the brand and the Lexus culture.
great vidio. can you compear this to the volvo xc90
The only Achilles Heel for this thing is the third row
Carrington Hollister No, that’s one of the main Achilles heels. This car has several. The outdated interior, the unintuitive infotainment system, the barely adequately powered engine, the third row seating (which is the entire point of this vehicle’s existence) just to name a few.
@@mybro727 I don't get it when people like you say that the interior is outdated. Could you specify what is so outdated about it, because it looks beautiful to me and I would assume many others think so as well if sales are anything to go by.
@@real_unique_username The only thing that's outdated to me is the gauges. I just wish they were digital. And maybe the amount of buttons.
edwin sagastume It doesn’t look all that bad. Their should be a bigger screen between the gauges or a fully digital one. Aside from that, the interior is nice. The engine also good and 295hp is more than enough. Some flaws are the cramped third row, lack of new innovative technology, the handling is poor, not much cargo space, and the front looks a bit hideous, although better than the pre refreshed model.
edwin sagastume Sales aren’t anything to go by when you’re referring to what’s outdated. Whether it’s true or not, Lexus has a reputation of superior reliability and resale value over all of it’s competitors here in America. You won’t see one Toyota/Lexus review where they won’t mention “This vehicle will be reliable”. Salesmen no longer have to, reviewers and journalists literally tell Americans that already. That alone pushes their sales here in the U.S.
If you take a look at their lineup (IS, RX, GX, LX) they are certainly outdated compared to the competition regardless of how well they may or may not sell.
How is it outdated? Lexus is still using a “touch-pad” with haptic feedback to control their infotainment systems. How about you tell me what differentiates this dash in a 2020 RX from the dash in a 2012 RX? It’s the same button galore design today. The same for the gauge cluster. I don’t see how people like you do _not_ see how this car’s interior design is outdated. Maybe it’s the same for most others like you, you see it’s a Toyota and assume it’ll be reliable so you’re forgiving of the rest I suppose? 🤷🏾♂️
The problem with BMW, MERCEDES and HYUNDAI, is long term ownership cost. That's why they are mostly a "lease" vehicle. Go to one of those dealerships and you will find the service department flooded with repair orders on supposed "premium" German cars.. LMBO 😂.
@Darkivaz-AAA it's just as crappy.. Korean !!
Fit and finish even on the Genesis falls apart in the first two years..
@@Mr.Highway I haven't heard anything negative about the Genesis brand except it's a Hyundai.
@@dontelindsey5846 it's like GM wrapping itself with Cadillac... Underneath it's still a Chevy...
I am not saying that Hyundai doesn't have nice looking cars or am I implying that they aren't comfortable...
Long-term they are still a Hyundai...
@Darkivaz-AAA well for one I'm not a kid and you should ask the people who are criticizing the brand. Other than the parent company is Hyundai is the best answer I can give you.
@Darkivaz-AAA what's idiotic about it? I'm actually Mexican btw. You just seem like the type to want to argue. I gave you answer if you don't like too bad.
What a beautiful vehicle. You’re right that third row is a joke and a deal breaker. Shameful.
its not that big of a deal, its for kids not designed to be a minivan
Thought these have a touch screen in them? And wow I want this for going to dinner and the rav 4 for daily driving 🤤🤤
UN96 these do, I work at Lexus you can either use the pad or the screen is a touchscreen but it’s a new feature for 2020
Just get a high end Highlander.
It's not the same. @davidhorne2326
Question for those who own the 2020 350L model Do you have the press down all the way to feel the braking. My brother has a f sport and when I brake on that car, it’s like any other car but for some reason, for my car. I have to push the pedal down much further to brake. I’m not sure if it’s specific to L model because it’s a heavier car. Any thoughts?
I felt the same in a few cars of toyota/lexus I test drove
I would have to agree with you Nathan I too love that green color. I am glad that more and more brands are offering a green option that isn't a lime green. I also would either get the regular RX or the Hybrid. Pretty much useless 3rd row, kind of like the back seat of a 2 door sports coupe or worse even. Just leave it down for all the extra cargo room. Lexus should make their own version of the Toyota Highlander maybe a tad longer instead of doing that to the RX and scaring off or confusing customers. I know that the GX is like the 4Runner and the LX is like the Seqouia so now that there is a new Highlander there should be a Lexus version of that. Makes a whole lot more sense to do that than what they did.
"290hp not really all that powerful". Everywhere outside USA that's powerful. My 2016 Golf has 125hp, and it's plenty for me!
My diesel pickup has around 700 hp and 1200 ft pounds of torque. It also weighs 9000 pounds. We do it big in America 😂
I thought 290hp should be enough, since my previous 2014 BMW X6 only has 300hp, but then I was really disappointed... It doesn't feel like it has 290hp, it drives like only 200hp... I guess you can't really just look at the numbers... You need to test drive it, push the gas and feel it yourself...
Main benefit that I see over the regular rx350 is cargo room. Not only because of the extra length but because the back gate is much more vertical than the steeply raked rx350 which really limits how high you can stack things in the back.
One of the reasons i’m happy with my 2008 AWD 7 passenger acura mdx tech 51,000 miles white 300 hp 3.7 v6 and love my grill too don’t like the newer ones all the black plastic grills omg but like the new rx better than new mdx
I currently have a ct200h and it's a beautiful car I love it
aye how many miles? battery problems?
Yota and lexus make the best reliability cars ever. But that 3rd row seat is an abomination in design and practicality. Absolutely ridiculous to even offer it. Great review Nathan
Great review
Go watch 2020 gv80 carguide review after this and then put your comments, Genesis gonna kill it this summer! Thanks for the review Nathan but I'll wait
i own a 2010 RX450H and i love the old mouse controler much more than this new mousepad ! I drove the UX with this pad and i find it to sensitive while driving . Cant wait for the RX450PH PlugIN with 470hp .....i hope :-) I can drive that thing 8 hours without getting tired at all.....
Did you got he premium one or the lixury
thanks for the Video!
My 2 kids are older than 16 and have their own cars. I don't need a 3rd row anymore. What I want is a SHORTER suv with a better turning radius (as opposed to the same big turning radius of my 2014 Toyota Highlander) and more INSTANT power (such as a plugin hybrid in the 2021 Toyota Rav4).
Nathan I the best of TFL. Others all too boring and predictable. Thanks Nathan !!
How did you not mention the touchscreen?? Lol
Does the Toyota Highlander have the same 3rd row seat issue???
I don't think so, because I feel the new Highlander is a bit longer than the Lexus because it is based on the newer platform
My mom has a 2018 RX350 and its awesome. It's such a solid vehicle, not loud and it has good power. Really nice quality. This update one is really nice as well! I think the mouse in hers would be better than the touch pad but I haven't tried the new one. My only complain is that the infotainment is lagging way behind apple car play. It needs apple car play very badly.
It has Apple Car play and AA, and its also a touchscreen now
TFL should have more of Nathan in their videos
FYI: He’s in 3 TFL videos published today.
A loooot more.
Nathan is awesome
I’m considering buying one of these but most likely 2015 model F sport....OR a 4Runner Limited of the same year.
The 3rd gen rx are the best 2010-15.If you go off-road get the 4Runner,if not get the rx.
J L thx,strongly leaning towards the RX.
Why not get GX 460 or what ever numver6it is. It's a 4 runner, but upgraded big time. Lil pricey but compared to this exact RX it's about 3k more. Good luck either way
David Lusk GX? I wish, the price is too much for me man & the gas prices are way up there....But if I had the extra cash I’d get the GX for sure.
4runner, landcruiser, GX and LX are body on frame true SUVs. They can take some abuses. But they are bad on gas. RX, Highlander, NX, RAV4 etc... Are SUV wannabe, unibody, sharing platforms with sedans like Camry, ES...
I love the wooden steering wheel! We only get the RX450hL in the UK and it is expensive! (circa £60,000)
Also it would be great if you compare this with hybrid one and tell us about the driving dynamics of both. I am buying one next year and I am between this and the Genesis GV80. though I know that driving dynamics- wise the genesis is a rear wheel drive and so some consider it a different animal. But to me, these 2 are the best value midsize luxury crossovers! which most families look for.
i like the touch pad along with the touch screen
Blah blah not all that powerful. It'll out last all the GDI motors out there.
Are you going to be racing? I don't get why people are so infatuated with how fast cars are especially living in America unless you live somewhere else. There is no autobahn here. I am sure it has enough power to take you were you need to go comfortably.
@@morbid1 he judges cars based on 0-60 straight line race from a stoplight but not the corners I got a tuned lexus is350 2008 I can smoke him easily if he brags about beating the engine that he said but id rather to drive it normal on the road so it will last forever
@@unfairsanic5089 The MDX handles way better than The RX. It is not even close.
@@finerbiner are u talking about suv? Lolz my lexus is a sedan tuned with racing coilovers
@@unfairsanic5089 The video is about an RX.
My eyes see the same problem with the 3rd row seating too. Even as an Asian small size family we are still feeling uncomfortable in the back seat. The MDX that we had, has more room and options included than the RX350L.
So what is the 3 row for? No body fits back there anyway
Third rows are usually Munchkinland, but the 350L is most useful for the extra cargo space. The third row is good for your mother-in-law. if you really hate your mother-in-law.
I am waiting impatiently for your review of the new Genesis GV80 and a comparison of both vehicles.. Please do!
Is it comes with Apple Car Play or no?
Hi. Anyone knows the color code to the Nori Green Pearl?
I bought a 2000 Rx300 great car flawless for 129k miles not a single issue then I bought 2004 Rx330 by the time I had 75k on it was going on 3rd radiator, wheel bearings failure, alternator failed, rear struts starting leaking, worn ball joint on drivers side, cv boots cracked. I could not wait to dump that car then I bought a Gx470 still have it today and has 145k miles on it and runs great only issue is exhaust manifold started leaking around weld so I have a tick sound apparently its a common issue on the 4.7 V8. I am not sure what Lexus I want next as we dont travel as much as we use to so we dont rack up 25k a year anymore .
So he complaining about entertainment system and not mentioning Apple CarPlay, and the new touchscreen for 2020? I just hate car reviewers who don’t do their homework. By the way I own a 2017 RX 350 and it’s the best car I’ve ever had.
Can u buy it without the 3rd row?
I have this car, and and it’s fantastic in city driving, and a dream in the highways. My dog loves the 3rd row, and continuously gets 27-28mpg combine. People say the MDX is fun to drive, but I have a motorcycle for that kind of thrill.
DRWN it’s very quiet also because of the laminated/double paned windows. The car is a great value. You’d pay double over at Mercedes-Benz or even BMW to get similar creature comforts.
Great vehicle. Had 1 of these. Not the L. It was a fantastic year round road vehicle. Worth every penny.(not the L)
I almost bought this RX but then the Lincoln Aviator came out. Now I have to wait for Lexus to step up and build something similar because Lincoln/Ford products just have terrible rust problems.
I thought the 2020 RX now has a touchscreen. It amazes, me how many people hate this car on the interweb, and just bash it for its looks, infotainment and power meanwhile it still remains the number 1 Luxury crossover in America, so ironic
Can't wait to see how the new Genesis GV80 compares to the RX350.
I can't say in terms of driving and reliability but design and tech the Genesis is a decade ahead compare to the Lexus
A.R.Rehman @ the end of day its still a korean hyundai. I rather drive a 10 years old LEXUS then any wanna be luxury hyundai.
I Finn the Genesis GV80 is a different class. Reminds me of bentley/mercedes.
@@rossvinnitsky1927 who cares about the brand? the car is what matters
The seatbelt warning did not go off because the chime goes off at either a certain amount of time or at a certain speed fyi!!
Same old tired RX350. When will it get the new platform that the 2020 Toyota Highlander is on? The upscale Highlander is the way to go in 2020! Shhhh don't tell anyone. I want to get one when I want one and don't want everyone rushing out to get the Highlander!
That headrest angle is giving me anxiety Bc he looks hunched over to avoid it. He’s prob not but you know...
It’s a compact crossover folks shouldn’t expect much of a 3rd row seating , I mean it’s good enough they crammed it in there but honestly I’d prefer it without the 3rd row and enjoy a larger cargo space , if a 3rd row seating is a must and second row seating comfort then this is might not be a great option.but the vehicle itself is overall a great machine
I LOVE the RX looks in F sport trim.
This is one of the top 5 best SUV on the market. Easily in my top 3. This is the best all around suv that is from what I know a problem free owner ship which in itself is priceless. As far as this third row model they should have left the 3rd row feature for the next gen RX where it wouldn’t have been a afterthought after years into the vehicle life cycle like this. Other then this issue the RX is perfect.
Side note to your Hyundai destroying Lexus with the Genesis that is never going to happen there is a major quality and design difference when it comes to Lexus.
its not that big of a deal, its for kids not designed to be a minivan
@YungGBone124127134 your right, cant agruee
@YungGBone124127134 If you like lexus , check me out, i plan of uploading related content !
"L is for lunger..." was expected Doc Holiday to pop out of the back seat!
its not that big of a deal, its for kids not designed to be a minivan
But it's 'not' up against vehicles costing $90k Nathan. It's up against an Audi Q5 for instance. One of the main reasons its sales are slightly down will be due to the Acura RDX A-Spec, which offers similar features, but is sportier and circa $5-10k less. The Lexus is the best built, the most reliable and the most refined in the class in terms of quietness and comfort, as you said. And it has the best residuals too. And cumulatively that's why it justifies its premium over some of its competition and continues to lead the segment overall.
respect
Very good vehicle reviewer.
Does it have touch screen yet?
Mclaren Lover - Yes, the 2020 RX now has a touchscreen standard, I’m surprised he never mentioned that
Great review! Thanks for another great video and not a Lexus bashing video.
Do you guys ever sleep lol
there is no flaws, best brand in the world period. Im driving a GM TBH
I love Lexus
Oh just stop whining about that 3rd row seat. It's great for the grands when they visit and we don't need to take two vehicles. They ARE flexible. I get it that an adult would rather walk on hot coals than climb in and out of it, so we will never expect them to. Our RX 350L is fantastic and I wouldn't change a thing. I also love the extra room when we aren't using that third row. Bravo, Lexus!
Amen brother
Put your seatbelts on before you start the car. If there were Saabs still being made, I know you would be just like all the other reviewers spending half the review on why is the key between the front 2 seats, or the start button located between the front 2 seats. If the RX had a roof line more like the Highlander then the 3rd row would be more capacious. If you want seating for more than 5 then get an Acura MDX. After the neighbor totaled my parked 2006 RX400h with their car, I replaced it with a 2016 RX 450h. May 2016 to January 2020 18K miles. And I did like my 2001 Saab 9-5 but even with Nordfrost Gislaveds it could not climb the hill in snow. Jeep Cherokees would. Ice is ice. A BMW X5 does just as poorly as a RX 400h on an icy hill corner to another hill. RXs are usually compared to X3s. If people want to seat a person who is not in a child car seat, then the GX is for you. Plenty of housewives/moms driving their 6 nut wheeled cars in Boston suburbs. The rest are in Mercedes rather than pay 6 figures for a LX.
Lexus is really dropping the ball with that third row. The next option in the GX had a super dated interior that can't be overlooked.
The other miss for the RX is the touchpad, if the they made it a touchscreen then it would be forgiveable.
Our lease is up on our '17 in a few months and I'm thinking Telluride or MDX.
There is a touchscreen in every 2020 RX
How’s this against Acura MDX?
Ken S MDX has better performance and handling, it also has better and useful 3rd row seats and probably exterior design. The RX350 has better interior though.
Yeah F150 does that chime increase too, but if i work in field and drive truck 3 mph to move it often i think i would pull the wife fuse
tallll70 if you google it there is a way to disable the chime. I did it in my dads ‘15 F-150 and my ‘16 f250.
That green color looks good. Would look better with an F-sport package and some black wheels. Horrible 3rd row leg room.
This may be my next car.
I'm a Lexus fan but that new genesis SUV is going to knock everybody into second place
Acura MDX best selling 3 row, RX best selling 2 row
Just as Honda Pilot vs Highlander. Pilot is wider and longer.
@@mana9013 exactly!!
You can also tell which one is American, and which one is pure Japanese design.
You gotta get to 10 MPH to get the seatbelt warning to go off.
The only reason people love them because they are reliable, and have good resale value. Tech wise they are behind
1999 was the first year usa rx model.
I owned one.
I work for Lexus, it was 1998
For people with small kids if you adjust the seats up some they would be fine
Waiting to see RAV4 with a third row....
Lexus rules no doubt about that!! But this is absolutely sinless why they did that 3rd row if no one can use it!? I guess marketing is much more important than every day reality!
Sinful?
toyota put reliability, NVH, and resale value like they do in all products (in general).
It is the best selling because it is reliable luxury. I don't think they really make the best SUV with the most features but because these things last an eternity and all other luxury brands(with the exception of Acura) just cost a ton to maintain or are either unreliable people would rather just buy a Lexus. If you are paying a lot for something you want it to last and most people don't want to pay a lot of money for something that will just break down over time.
If there are 7 people in a car, chances are some of them are kids. That should be fine.
I just want to know who signed off on this design? That third row is useless, and I there are too many compromises from the regular RX.
its not that big of a deal, its for kids not designed to be a minivan
