My wife had this same car. I remember pulling the intake to change out those 4 spark plugs.. She drove it trouble free for 12 years and then we sold it for $6000.

If I could give you one piece of advice, when stumbling upon simple things like a stripped bolt head, make sure you customer sees the damage that was pre existing. If for some reason they take their vehicle some where else because they couldn't wait on your schedule, you wouldn't want to be blamed for that pre existing damaged bolt head😉

Wow! $110.00 that's a lot of money! I live in Indiana, and gas prices are $3.69. I love your videos. I really need to get a scan tool. It would definitely keep others from Scamming.
Scan tools (basic ones) are pretty cheap at any local auto parts store or amazon
$3.69 is a lot of money 😂. I got annoyed when it went from $2.93 to $3.23 in Paducah last week...
@davidgoodrich1258 those cheap scan tools will read only OBD codes and maybe live data from only the engine computer. There's no comparison.
You could get a decent scan tool for that money. :-)

*I should have been a mechanic. My Dad offered to help me pay for a auto mechanic school in the late 90s or early 2000s but, I thought I knew better - I did not. Just recently my Mom's 2015 Honda Odyssey was having issues. Randomly, it would throw a misfire code or go into lump mode, etc. I researched and researched and researched and finally found the issue - luckily it's a known issue online and I was able to install a VCMTUNER II to disengage the ECO mode and now her Honda is running better than ever. Oh well, maybe in my next life.*

40 years of air compressor field service now retired. I traveled the entire USA during my service years and about 75% of it was by vehicle. And I can attest that a 3/4 ton van was by far better than a truck. That printer wouldn't be under your feet and all of your tools and parts would be inside rather than outside. I have worked from a truck a few of those years and it was by far worse than working from a van. Just my two cents. Enjoying the videos- keep up the great work.

im sure you could start the car with a scan tool if you can circumvent the security seeds of the ECM programming
i can energize the starter solenoid, coolant fans etc with my Autel 808
I agree it could be a possibility. I’ll have to check and see if starter solenoid actuator works on the scan tools. I don’t think it would or should for safety.
If i didn't already have an innova scanner, I'd buy the one in the video.

Looks like your nephew needs to learn how to get his hands dirty if he wants to pursue this auto mechanic job. Is he just starting to learn from scratch? Or does he take auto shop or took auto shop at school and is going to school to be a mechanic now? He just doesn’t look like a kid that has ever worked on his own bicycle even. Good luck to him. Oops I spoke to soon so he is learning from scratch. That makes sense.

problem with that think scan tool and a thing you did not mention is that there's a yearly subscription fee after the first year. This is something that was not indicated when I purchased it from Amazon and was a very big disappointment when I found it out.
I’m sorry you are disappointed but almost every scan tool is like that. It is also stated on their product on amazon.

I used it on multiple vehicles and it was unlocked. You download which manufacturers you want to work on and it gives you full control.

The customer requested only a coil due to budget constraints. They were recommended.
Can't find a good mechanic for my daughters 2016 Chevy Cruz turbo, her engine when out going up on the 15 grey. A 2017 Chevy engine was installedd but the motor was never program to the cars computer, needs to be program, sensor repaired, and timing set, no one seems to want to work on it. Chevy dealer giving me the run around $3000 to trouble shoot it, but no guaranty on the repairs.
If possible could you recommend someone that could help her out. Are in Azusa Ca

I always fill up at half these days, is it the same amount, sure, but it looks cheaper to my wallet.

Question, this scanning tool how long will it last before it is obsolete, reason why I ask is I bought one from harbor freight it lasted about 3 years and would not do updates then I called harbor freight and they told me it was discontinued that was 10 years ago and have not purchased another one.
That’s a great question that I can’t answer. Like everything they will eventually stop updates but as for when I would recommend contacting the manufacturer.

Or could you point a diyer to a cheapish tools that I can get for this purpose specifically?
You would need a PIN number from dodge to do that but yes it should.
@@QualityMobileAutomotive had trouble using the thinkdiag2. They wanted $50 for autoauth and another $150 for the fca sgw bypass even when using the bypass cable. Ended up using obdlinkmx+ with jscan and worked for cost of tool and an extra $20 for the license through jscan. No annual subscription fee. Felt like a better way to go….

Cost cutter coil, stripped fasteners, what’s the chance it has bad or wrong spark plugs? You don’t know, you didn’t even pull the one that was missing.
Customer requested a coil that is all. I can’t force the customer to pay for more than they want or what is in their budget.
But don't forget that truck weighs a lot.

Customer requested only that coil. We talked and he said all he wanted was the coil as that’s all they can afford in their budget. I advised them of the other coils and they declined.
