      If you don't mind me asking, I got 2 questions to ask:
      1) Does tubi say how much views your movie gets?
      2) I know it varies on advertisers and all, but any idea how much roughly your movie makes? Is it based on per 1000 views or how many hours is watched?
      I ask because I want to get a good idea how much tubi pays in comparison to this site. I'm planning to watch things over at tubi if there's a movie available both here and there, but just like to know how much I'm helping indie filmmakers by watching over at tubi since I know this site pays very little.

    Am I the only person who didn’t think he answered the question he asked. Wtf. Why not just pick a film and give us the numbers…

    • @JHorton
      @JHorton  Год назад +7

      because when dealing with AVOD there isn't a definitive answer. That's the answer. as I said in the video the numbers and cpms differ film to film. Fine. Illl pick five random films from my library last month and what they made on TUBI. one made 11,763 grand last month. one made 20 dollars. One made 2212 dollars. one made 200 dollars. One made 976 dollars. The cpms varied from 6 to 9 dollars. The CPM on the 11k one was 8.89. So that's basically 9 bucks for every 1000 ads viewed. If the movie played 3 ads a play. that's 27 bucks per 1000 viewings... Problem with that is not everyone sees the same amount of ads. Algoythm dictates. Sometime you might get 4 or 5 ad breaks. Sometimes you get less. Sometimes no ads play. TUBI pays much like youtube adsense. And there are ton of other videos out there that breakdown things like CPM and RPM. It's a compicated and nuanced topic. There is no simple. They pay this much answer.

    dollar amounts and not
    just theoretical examples please?

    • @JHorton
      @JHorton  Год назад +1

      i was very clear. It's AVOD based. THey pay based on CPM. the cpm's average between 7 and 9 dollars which breaks down to 7 to 9 dollars per 1000 ads viewed. (though there are films that get higher and lower CPMS. Depends on the movie. There's 100s of videos here on youtube that explain CPM if you want to dig in. If hardly no one watches your movie you could make a few cents. But, I know filmmakers that have made 100k in a month there as well. Just depends on the movie. There is no set rate.

      you're not 100 percent wrong, there is not way to really know. And I would love to see a youtube like dashboard. But even then, how do you really know that is accurate? But at the end of the day I don't see as sketchy... all paranoid thinking will do is keep you from taking risks and rob you of opportunities. How do you know your youtube CPM is really accurate? How do you know the retail outlet making dvds didn't sell more than they say? in today's age, I don't think there is a way to know for sure someone somewhere isn't ripping you off. If you're lucky enough to get a 100 screen theatrical release, how do you know ticket sales are accuruate or concession sales? The only way to be 100 percent sure no one is ripping you off on your movie is to make one copy, and sell tickets one by one yourself to private showings in your basement. If you're gonna release your movie to the world, at some point you have to take someone's word for it. I look at reputation and results (what ends up in my pocket) All I can say for sure, is at the end of the day, more indie filmmakers are seeing more money from feature films through tubi than any other outlet.

      I keep hearing that the logical maximum is around $150K for one project.
      I’m releasing a 2-hour action SciFi movie shot in 4K in a few months. My first action movie was internationally distributed by a typical predatory distributor and I did t make a dime, even though it was sublicenaed to 20+ territories and was with both Netflix and Blockbuster on the DVD mail rental program back in 2010. Nada for me.
      Very painful experience!!! I can’t have the same experience from these psychopathic distributors and lean heavily on people like yourself for honest information.
      I really appreciate your info. I was thinking. About going through IndieRights as they are a bit more curated and attend film markets, plus - like FilmHub - they are fair and transparent.
      Is there any reason that you don’t use an active distributor like IndieRights?
