I can see why it's only your second favourite, I mean, flying is good and all. But without rampage 4, trample, and the ability to count as a dragon, what's the point?
@@TheGloriousLobsterEmperor Those kinds of insane abilities warrant paying 9 more mana. Actually sometimes I play Sphere of Resistance, then play Teeka's Dragon, because I feel so guilty only paying 9.
I will never get tired of Reveillark being mentioned. It's such a wonderfully bizarre design, and the fact that its evoke cost is higher than its casting cost is so fascinating from a design space. The idea of a creature that you would pay more to have it sacrificed immediately is so cool.
I often give wizards a hard time as rares are often just better versions of commons, but Reveillark truly breaks the mold. The design philosophy for rares was originally stated to be cards more complex or unique than commons or uncommons, and less straightforward to play. Reveillark more than stands out in that regard, and is a fantastic example of taking a straightforward idea and putting a unique spin on it. It is VERY deserving of it's rare slot, and should be hall of famed for card design.
The game needs Reveillarks to be deep and good The game needs Baneslayer Angels to be learnable. I really enjoy complicated game play and mechanics but the more complex I try to make games to play the fewer people listen to me explain how to play. Baneslayer is admittedly kind of boring and not fun, like a tank in Axis & Allies it's not even necessarily good at all. But I don't think Axis & Allies would have sold any copies if they had not included tanks and made Transports more complicated in the first edition. Even if pro gamers would probably appreciate that now today.
@@darthparallax5207 this is where the issue comes in, as you get cards like Brazen Borrowers making Mythic, simply because it's two decent uncommons stapled together with modality tax applied.
I did a draft of a think a Masters Set where I got 2 of them and like 5 total flicker effects along with a bunch of great targets for it. One of my favorite limited decks ever, got it going almost every game.
Loving the Statline videos, its really neat to see how different creatures with the same p/t can be and where they slot into magic's formats. Keep up the great work!
One cool thing about Incubation Druid is that it just needs a +1/+1 counter on it. It doesn’t matter how it got the counter. In my 1v1 Yorvo commander deck, I have a cool trick that I can do (assuming I have them in hand): Turn 1: Play Llanowar Reborn. Turn 2: Play any untapped land and cast Incubation Druid. Assuming I have a third land, I have access to six mana on turn three.
Ornithopter was the first thing I thought of but ornithopter of paradise is the newer version that goes in almost any commander deck not running green.
Honestly, I am so tired that I couldn't even think of a single card that could be on a list like this. My brain just just melted due to a bad sleep, and the only thing keeping me going is the desire to see "Top 10 Vintage Cards (Minus Power 9)".
I wonder would a 0/2 0 mana colorless creature with protection from everything or shroud be playable? It would not be able to get any enchants, or weapons, ans specifically it woukd not be an artifact, but also it would be annoying to get off the battle field.
I think it would see play in a lot of go wide strategies that uses a lot of anthem effects, so it would probably depend on the creature type how busted it would be.
Drop an anthem effect on the table and see it chip away at your opponent's life total. It'll usually play second fiddle to the thopter but I think it'll have its uses.
The further this video went on, the more I thought "wait, does ornithopter have more points than this? It can't possibly have less than 7 points, right?"
One thing to note about Incubation Druid (AKA Incubation Waifu) is that she taps for three mana no matter how many +1/+1 counters she has on her, so if your deck has a way of putting +1/+1 counters on targeted creatures, it's sometimes the right play to forego the extra counters just to get the extra mana. Simic Ramp decks would use this sometimes, though I can't say for sure if it ever happened at a pro level.
there was that Rhythm of the Wild enchantment at the time, too, that could activate it immediately - either to get haste or +1/+1 to tap for 3 on the next turn.
SPOILERS FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T READ THE DESCRIPTION: Yeah, no surprise that Literal Actual Baby Jace topped this list. Multi-format powerhouse, easily the best of the Origins 'walkers, all with a power and toughness befitting that scrawny little dork.
I have to say im suprised the hedron crab copy did not make the list. I mean its basically the same creature with a different name or is the stat line different?
Ornithopter has to be my second favorite artifact creature with flying
I can see why it's only your second favourite, I mean, flying is good and all. But without rampage 4, trample, and the ability to count as a dragon, what's the point?
Ornithopter is my fav though, I might just have to say that in each video too 🙃

Nice
That made me laugh out loud 😂
Nice.

Reveillark is like an Angel, a non-Serra Angel, if you know what I mean.
The game needs Reveillarks to be deep and good

Very strange that you didn't mention the insane couple: turn one Gilded Goose, turn two Oko, Thief of Crowns!

Jokes aside, thank you for making all of these videos. I always feel like I learn a bit more about this game and its rich history when I watch.

The goose is loose!
I've always liked Gilded Goose, I just didn't expect it to be so high up the list. That's awesome!
My favorite use of Ornithopter was with Enduring Renewal and Ashnod's Alter. Infinite free mana.
Are you planning on doing Top 10 0/0s at any point? Polukranos, Unchained, for example?

Protection from everything would be busted because it could block forever, but shroud would be interesting to see

Drop an anthem effect on the table and see it chip away at your opponent's life total. It'll usually play second fiddle to the thopter but I think it'll have its uses.
It would also be really good with ninjitsu bc you'd have a 0 mana, highly evasive unblockable creature to use.
What about Norin the Wary?
Incubation Druid is really gross if you can put a +1/+1 counter on it with something besides that expensive Adapt ability.
Pretty nice with The Great Henge in commander
Fight Rigging

Incubation Druid can’t add any Color. It can only add a Color that lands you control could produce. That’s a huge difference
that's ... weird .. and weak
yeah, it would be a bit broken with Hardened Scales deck or similar, but ... that's sad
Nice that you didn't make a joke about the number of 0/2s. :)
I like Ornathopter in my Satoru ninja deck. I attack, it isn't blocked, I ninjitzu out a big monster, bring it up to my hand, play it again, lol.
Saw the title and the thought "how high is Ornithoptor on the list" crossed my mind 😅

Ah, yes. Baby Jace; Magic's mullet.
Incubation druid is awesome in adapt decks
I beat the owner of my FLGS during the M15 release with Ornithopter + Ensoul, it was a really good time.
“High powered low powered creatures,” nice
I'm impressed Ornithopter is #2. Free spells man...
Jace Vyrn's Prodigy?

Ruin crab is a 0/3
@@MiaTom it also only targets opponents, so it isn't as versatile as hedron crab.
