- Today we look at the Autophix OM129 OBD2 Scanner, CAN Reader and Battery tester. This is the UPGRADED version of the OM129 with some improvements over the older model. Now can read more codes, PIDS, quicker access with faster processor, easier to read display, etc. This is a generic OBDII scanner that works with vehicles from 1996 and Newer with OBD2 systems. It also works on Trucks and Diesels with OBD2. It reads several versions of OBD2 plus CAN OBD2 as I will explain in the video. Aside from reading and clearing codes it has several added functions such as doing a quick I/M test to see if your vehicle will pass emissions testing plus checking your battery voltage and charging system. It also has a built in fault code library so it can help you look up trouble codes and understand what they mean. It can also show you live data stream so you can diagnose problems with your car as they are happening. This is a very Capable scanner with an affordable price. I will explain in detail everything about the features of this scanner plus give you a full demonstration of what this scanner can do. Here you have an inexpensive OBDII Scanner that will work on most vehicles Asian, American, and European equipped with OBDII. It's a convenient tool to have on hand if you want to be able to diagnose problems with your vehicle. Any questions on this scanner let me know.
Does the vehicle need to be able to turn on? Or
@@veronicaleon8303 No the vehicle does not need to run to scan the computer. The vehicle does need to have a good 12V battery though because that is where the scanner gets its power. But you can scan a non running car for codes.

Nope, definitely not. This scanner is too simple for that. I have other scanners on my Scanner playlist on my channel page that can do what you want. Go check out my playlist and look for a scanner in your budget.

Can you use this machine to code a battery to a car ?
No, this is just a very basic OBD2 Scanner. You need a more expensive model to do that. Check out my ODB2 Scanner Playlist on my channel page where I have reviewed several that will do that.
My scanner keeps saying please perform related operations on your computer please help what do I do?
That means that you have to hook it up to your computer for updates. It does not have a WiFi update so it does it through your computer. Read through your manual or go to their website for instructions on how to do it.
few more dollars get the (same) one with battery clamps and does a load test on your battery

You have to plug this unit into the OBD2 Port of your vehicle since it doesn't have an internal battery. Then hit the UPDATE button. As long as you have already set it up with your WiFi, that is all you need to do. It will download the latest version. If it doesn't, then that means there are no updates available.
Why read the owners manual when you can just watch this? 👍🏻

When you compare this to other bigger units, this is very small. I have some that are large tablet sized scanners. Try holding those in one hand comfortably.
