One huge value in these is checking your car BEFORE going to a mechanic. A trustworthy shop will not make up stuff, and you can ask smarter questions. An untrustworthy shop may tell you things that are not a problem. But you now know the difference.
Just don't leave your OBD in the car, to warn them.

If you take your car to like Napa or Orilleys, they will hook up their code reader to your car and tell you the codes for free. Now I'm not 100% but I think the reason the mechanic shops charge like 50-100 bucks for the code reading is because their readers are like $4,000 or more and can give alot more information on the code and the issue. Like my car said (Code: 90171) "Fuel System Too Lean" which means either too much air is getting in or not enough fuel is getting in and the air to fuel mixture is not right but there is like around 7 possible reasons that could cause that and with a macanics shops super advanced $4,000 code reader it can pinpoint whats causing that code alot better than just getting the code and having to guess which one of the 7 potentially reasons is the one causing it with the other cheaper readers.
So i always just take it to like orileys and have them run the codes for me for free and if its something that could only be caused by 1 or maybe 2 things then im good to go but in a certain situation like I explained above where there is like 7 or more possible reasons, its just better to pay the 50 to 100 bucks and get a way better idea what it is causing the code instead of having to guess through the multiple possible reasons

I just bought one from super cheap. I had engine light on and there fancy scan tool would not scan i20 hyundai so they got out the $100 scan tool pro one and it worked straight away ahahha

Ok good, but there are many instances the check engine does not goes on and there is a problem associated with lighting on...saying this, what obd2 scanner is able to detect underline potential problems? Let going to say you had that blown block head gasket...will this tool help you?

I have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the V6 Diesel motor. Sometimes a dash light comes on showing traction control. If I press the traction control button, next to it I get the traction control OFF light comes on.

I had a CEL come on. I hooked up this scanner... And stupidly erased the codes without reading the codes... The car runs fine.. but how did the scanner make the CEL go off without performing any maintenance?!?! Please help!

oxmanagain my 2010 Chevy Equinox has lost all interior sounds. The turn signal noise, the radio doesn’t even turn on and every other interior sound.

No this doesn't check your air conditioner. It only checks engine cold. To my knowledge. If your AC is not blowing cold you might want to recharge the system

Hello good review.man.Just want to ask I have a missfire code p0304 on my hyundai tucson 2008 2L 4cylinder for a while.The engine seems to run ok no stalls no backfires just normal maybe some rough idle in cold engine start.Do you know Wich data from data stream or the graphics option on this ancel scanner will give an idea of what the problem is? P.s. compression test in all 4 cylinder was between 178-180 psi

Bought this to turn my engine light off after installing O2 sensors. was able to erace the codes but the check engine light remains on. How do I turn it off with this?
After you see the codes if you keep hitting enter it will ask you if you want to clear the codes.

It all depends on what you need a scanner to do. For the most part, any scanner under $100 will read your code and give an idea of the problem. I like this one because you get live readings and a graph.

This scanner can erase the code but if you don't fix the problem the check engine light will come back on. What is the code that keeps popping up?
P0736, P0730 and P0735. I topped off the Transmission fluid and cleared the codes but that pesky engine light cameback on. Can I pass the smog check with the engine light on sir? Please help.

Yes it will.
A check gauges light means just that.... Look at your gauges, something is wrong at one of them. You don't need a scanner to look at your gauges.

This video could have been a lot better had you explained where you were going while you were going through the functions ! You kept saying things like let's go here, let's check this etc without saying where you were going. For someone not familiar with using a OBD2 scanner they will get lost with your instructions. I suggest everyone read the manual !

My car slipped into “limp mode”. I was told that I would need to run diagnostic on it. I would usually do this at the part store but they said they won’t do it due to this covid stuff. They told me to buy one of these things, which I did. I think it’s the same one you feature in your video. I had no idea how to even hook it up. I don’t have a USB port on my car. Or I couldn’t find it at least. I don’t know. I’m just fed up. I can work on older cars all day long but these computer things go over my head. Maybe I’m just an idiot.

No, your not, they make this new car very hard to work on.
The hookups are usually under the steering wheel by your leg area. Or just RUclips your vehicle make n model n ask for the diagnostics hookup.
