“There’s our little doo dad”. I hate it when I’m missing a doo dad or a whatchamacallit 😂
🤣🤣🤣
Throw those tractor sheet metal fasteners into the deepest pond and buy a gross package of new bolts all with the same head sizes. Thanks for sharing.
🤣 yeah they suck.
Its time for animal sounds with ross
🤣🤣🤣
What a battle!!! It'll be worth the fight when it's purring along like the 1365.
Thanks Don! It won’t be long and this one will be running beautifully…
I have to say the commentary is priceless country humor!
🤣 thanks!
Dang Ross you need to interview your grandpa if he’s up for it!
I asked, and he said he wasn’t a talker. It’s a shame but I’ll keep asking. What kinds of things do you want to know? Maybe if I have some questions he’ll be more likely to warm up to the idea.
Some questions I could think of would be to talk about farming back in the day,his experience with Oliver, and what little Ross was like growing up
You need to have a six point socket set handy for the rounded corners of bolts. They help get you out of problems such as the hood bolts.👍
Hi Ross you have been putting out a video everyday so when you didn't have one yesterday I was going through Ross the Oliver Man withdrawal glad to see you had one out today keep up the good work👍
🤣🤣🤣 thanks Wayne! I wish I could keep up the pace of every day but that’s very hard to do. I mainly been putting one out every day just to keep current with videos. For a while I had about a months worth ahead and I was afraid we would be doing winter videos in the middle of summer 😂
So fun!
Another great video. Well I know I'm not the only one with non-conforming fasteners and parts. Was good to hear the animals again.
Thanks Keith! The animals are always on standby 🤣🤣🤣
Enjoying this 880 series Ross! Please keep the videos coming!! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Donald!
Maybe you have a copy, but there was a service bulletin for updating the 770 or 880 to hydrostatic steering like yours has. If they came factory there was a modified dash assembly to make the steering motor fit better.
I guess I don’t have that one. It would be interesting to see because that would probably explain a lot of what I see here. I have a feeling that that back fuel tank support is one that they sent with the conversion package? first I thought it was modified but it has two tabs welded to it that bolt to the top of the steering unit.
Ross, glad you didn’t scrap her to the Chinese! I really enjoy your videos and I want to see that 880 run again and go to the field. IMO it’s a much better tractor than the Italian one. On another note. I prefer the old closing music. This song is fine, but the old one was “gooder”! 😂
Thanks! I actually switched the music because I was getting nervous about the copyright situation. One of my videos got flagged from using the music that was built into iMovie and that closing song was also music that was built in. So to avoid any potential future issues I switch to a song that was from the RUclips audio library which should be good to go.
I could see you where you would need to walk away working on something for a while. Been there myself. Thanks Michael
You got that right! Thanks Michael!
Steady progress Ross
It’s coming along. Thanks Stephen!
Glad to see the 880 going back together. I will admit that when you put that power booster rod on, i could feel the pain in my knee, when it pops out right into my knee cap. I have a different rod that you do that has a cast ball on top of it. Always enjoy your videos!
Thanks Kevin! Anyone with a two cylinder John Deere is well used to getting whacked in the kneecap also 🤣
Odd ball mismatched fasteners really offend my OCD also. Then as you mentioned obtaining uniform metric fasteners Ina non metric country is maddening. On those cheap metal choke cables it helps to slip that clear plastic hose over them keeps the rust from freezing them up and shorting out on the starter connections. Or you could buy the good coated ones $$$. Last good one I bought was nearly $50.
These choke cables are around $84, but totally worth it in my opinion because they last long and work excellent. I try to keep the fasteners at least the same on one side of the tractor. Maybe it’s crazy but my brain just can’t handle nine different types of stuff 🤣
With those hard to remove bolts because you can't get a socket on them I have found over the years that I have put my sockets in my lathe and faced them of square, so all of the socket is on the bolt. And when you put the bolt back in put a flat washer on the bolt.
Thanks Carl! That’s a good idea! I did in fact put a washer underneath the bolts that I put back in you will see in an upcoming video.
I enjoyed the video thanks. If you swap your steps out for the new ones I would be interested in buying them. I bought myself that new pliers you got as a gift and I’m struggling getting it adjusted when I need to. Looks like you sure have them figured out!
That things are super handy! I think I use them every day now. It does take some getting used to but it’s amazing what they will do. Message me sometime and we can talk about those steps. The big problem would be the shipping. It would probably be a killer since we’re so far apart.
What about a small impact ? Rust buster on the inside!
I know, there were several times I was tempted to go get the impact. but I might as well continue my trend of doing things the hard way 🤣🤣🤣
Needle nose vise-grips. I have a small and large pair for those hard to get fasteners.
I have a pair of those but I couldn’t find them quickly when I was doing this so I just gave up. I have a lot of quit in me 🤣
@@rosstheoliverman gotcha. In my 60's with copd. My quit comes pretty easy also
One thing I'm always reminded of just when I get to thinking that working on tractors like this is bad: Planters and combines are worse lol. Research plot planters and plot combines are worse still. And I have to deal with all 4 🤣🤣
I think a combine is the worst. The second worst in my mind would be a baler. Both are fascinating pieces of technology, but that also means they have a lot that can go wrong fast 🤣
Whenever I see the school bus in the background I wonder..
"Are the children well behaved, or do they need a few light slams now, and again?"
Mrs. Doubtfire
Some days are worse than others 🤣🤣🤣
👍👍
Thanks Tom!
I am not a fan of how much throw the Power Booster lever has, but it works out I guess. I rarely use mine, although I do like it. My biggest complaint is the tractor will free wheel down hill if I try to go into "Low" to slow down baling on a hill. I am supposed to be putting a clutch in my 770 this spring yet... however, I think that project ran out of time and funds already. Hopefully it holds until next fall!
I’ve never had a power booster that worked yet. I need to figure out the sprag clutch situation because AGCO has discontinued them for this. I think if you’re careful with what you do you probably make it until fall.
👍
So in other words the power booster is similar to internationals torque amplifier ?
Probably. I’m not exactly sure how theirs is designed but it’s basically the same idea, a high and low. Basically a direct drive and an under drive with a one-way clutch.
I wish I was there to help you
Thanks Tom!
Next time use a six point socket instead of your 12 point it worked a lot better
Dirty work, but it will clean up.
So true!!
Patience is a Virtue…….my 🤬🤬🤬
🤣🤣🤣
Lol, I'm only 1/4 through this vid and omg I can feel your frustration. This is typical old stuff. And your poor camera, does it take a digger in every video? 😄
It’s taken a few hard hits. I’m glad I bought the protective case to put it in or I don’t think it would be in existence anymore
What or u use clean fuel tank
👀👍👍👍👍
Thanks Paul!
Bahahahahaha... weld a nut to the bolt
When in doubt, burn it out!
You mean to tell me tractor parts aren’t perishable these days?
🤣🤣🤣
Never use the right tool for the job. Just sayin. Cheers :)
It’s more fun that way! You have to have some sense of adventure 🤣
"Man turns Knob" Doesn't sound R rated lol
🤣🤣🤣
😂someday you’ll buy a tractor that won’t need rebuilt . What will you do with your self?
If he's like the rest of us that have done this for a while and gets that much money , he sure won't be spending it on a shiny tractor and still farming L.O.L
I think even if I had the money I’d still pick an old one. It’s more rewarding to bring one back to life than to just go buy one finished.

Man blows tractor - man plays with knob on camera. You had it all going on in this video! Hope you checked "Not made for kids". 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It’s hardly even good enough for adults 🤣🤣🤣
