For all miserable like myself: that bloody microswitch preventing the start in Planner mode is set under the table, on the left side, facing the machine as planner. See very careful the chapter in manual "Surface planer mode" - Place dust collector connector (this
is not the chip chute mentioned in step 1!) below the infeed table into the machine. Observe correct position of the dust collector connector: ... slide dust collector connector in until the point of intersection of shaft and axis below the infeed table (arrow) is exactly above the matching seat of the dust collector connector. 9. Crank the thicknesser bed carefully up to secure the dust collector connector in position. 10. Connect a suitable dust collector to the suction port of the dust collector connector. 11. Cover the cutterblock with the cutterblock guard extrusion. Metabo should have paid much more attention to this chapter and very clear pictures. Besides this, the machine works just fine.

Yes sometimes the instructions are not very well explained, glad to see that you found the problem

Many thanks! However - my HC260 is not starting in Planner setup, just for Thicknesser. The power microswitch is in open position for Planner, but the lever is in correct position. Really puzzled...

the planner has 2 safety devices, there is the lever at the exit table, and there is one below , you must put the chip evacuation cover on, you must be careful ensure that it is securely in place and that the planer table presses the cover against this safety (it's a bit complicated to explain in writing) I hope I could help you

Hi, thanks for video. In my case jointer is working but thicknesser is not working. In thicknesser mode, ‘black cover’ is fully on planer surface and it’s secured (it’s not possible to lift cover up) but machine is not working. Do you have idea how to solve this problem?

      Hi you're welcome
In my opinion your problem comes from a safety device which is engaged, it seems to me that it is the one at the red button (at 7min in the video) on the plastic cover (chip evacuation)
I tried it myself and that was the only thing that caused the machine not to work.
Don't hesitate to give me feedback to find out if it helped you or if it came from something else, maybe it could help other people

Hello. Thank’s for the video. Is it possible to adjust the enter table ? (I’m not talking about the higher level)

    • @js_workshop

Hello, are you talking about settings like the outfeed table (black hex screws)? if so, as you can see at 3:04 in the video the infeed table slides, and there is no way to adjust it to level, you have to adapt the outfeed table in relation to the infeed table to be perfectly flat, I hope I have answered your question

@@js_workshop yes, that’s my question. I’ve passed en few hours on it this morning and I can’t put the enter table perfectly like the outfeed table in the right and in the left…

@@nicolasbelloy4538 I put the enter table on 0 and I adjusted the outfeed table based on the enter table with the help of a level or a very straight slat, then I did the adjustment of the blades, and finally the guide

Very instructional video from you. Thanks. I haven't bought the Metabo HC260 yet but will soon.
I plan to buy the 400 volt version which is a bit more smooth running and more powerful... and 100 Euro more expensive ;-) Was yours the 240 volt?
Do you have any idea if it is possible to get a helix spindle for this in Europe?
Oh... and I know you can buy it cheap from China, but I refuse to do that.... European/Western jobs.
I know it is possible to buy one from the US, but it is almost 1300$ (same as Euros currently, LOL) ;-)

      Thank you for your comment,
yes the 400v is better to maintain the rpm,
for my part I have the 230v (I don't have 400v at home) and I find it powerful enough,
to be honest I've never seen helix spindle on metabo hc260 (if you modify this, wouldn't it be more interesting to buy a machine that already have helix spindle?),
but the blades that are currently on offer a good surface
for sub-brands: buying cheap means buying twice,
if you buy it in US or in a country outside europe and import it into europe you will have to pay taxes (20% if I remember correctly) and you will probably have to modify the electrical outlet
