    P.S. While the Sniper Bill is a Bullet Bill “variant” that uses its arms, the only time the classic Bullet Bill used its arms (from what I can remember) was in the ending of Mario Super Sluggers. The scene shows a Bullet Bill that has been fired by Wario and Waluigi is ricocheted back from Bowser’s swing. Then it *grabs* the two crooks before sending them off into the sky and explode.

    I believe Bullet Bills have similar lives to Bob-ombs... but much less so, lol.
    Bullet Bills are created to be a weapon. Unlike most Bob-Ombs, I'm guessing they die when they explode.
    We do know that Bullet Bills can stop, and judging on Sniper Bills, I'm guessing they can stop on their own. As we see in Bowser's Inside Story, Bowser obtains an old Banzai Bill from a Wiggler. The Banzai Bill landed in the forest some time before and Wiggler had been keeping it ever since. We also see a Bullet Bill land on the ground in the Bloopers of Mario Power Tennis.
    We also see Bullet Bills in storage in Bowser's Castle in The Origami King. So I guess if a Bullet Bill wanted to go against its purpose, it could just leave and have a life of its own. Do you think there's a bullet bill out there just traveling the world on his own adventures?
    Edit: Also, I wonder who loads the Bullet Bills into the launchers?

  • @johnclark926
    @johnclark926 2 года назад +6

    I’ve always found it strange that there have been almost no Bullet Bills that are treated like sentient beings, despite their anthropomorphic designs. You see Bob-ombs, Goombas, Boos, and Koopa Paratroopas intermingling with each other whenever you see a crowd of Bowser’s minions, and the RPG Mario games have a wealth of enemy types that are anthropomorphized into NPCs or partners, but Bullet Bills are only ever present as obstacles rather than citizens.
    I’m not really sure why it’s the case. You could argue it’s because Bullet Bills are always moving, which would make them very difficult to put in a crowd or talk to as an NPC, but that could be solved by just slightly bending the rules and letting Bullet Bills pause in mid-air like every other flying enemy. There’s also the argument that they can’t be sentient because they come out of cannons, but that doesn’t make sense either considering Bob-ombs have been projectiles from cannons as well.
    Unfortunately, it seems that it’s too late to add Bullet Bills as recurring characters rather than objects with arms and faces, as they’ve been treated like the latter for 35 years now. You know you have it rough when the only time you get any character representation is in Mario Party Advance lmao

    Bullet Bills appear to be actual totems, akin to any other power ups. Pseudo living creatures, like mushrooms, fire flowers, or any other power up. Little more than carnivorous plants. They move, but only to seek out a way to propagate. Note any time we see bullet bills as dangerous, they're being launched at great speed. Theoretically, that's what causes the homing effect. Like how mushrooms will move around. The power ups seek to be used.
    Perhaps power ups, like plants, seek to use being like Mario as a way to propagate, spreading influence, like energy, when Mario loses them.
    Or, maybe they're just silly bullets with eyes on them.

    I used to think that turning into a bullet bill in Mario Kart was just a machine replica of the Bullet Bill, used as a power up which makes your kart turn into a bullet bill, while you sit inside the machine/kart

    There's that one Bullet Bill that wants to be an athlete in Mario Party Advance. Dunno exactly what his day to day is like, but his existence implies that Bullet Bills are full fledged members of society.

    In the Superstar Saga remake for the 3DS, Sniper Bills sprout legs and walk back to their starting position after making contact with Mario or Luigi. Considering the fact that they look like regular Bullet Bills in the remake, this raises some serious questions about the anatomy of Bills.

  • @alolomololomolomomololola8854
    @alolomololomolomomololola8854 2 года назад +2

    Most bullet bill blasters are attached to a wall or have some sort of support, wich probably means that they don't *hold* Bullet Bills, instead it's more likely that Bullet Bills are delivered to them in real time trough a series of underground tunnels, or, since this is the Mario universe, that they are a pipe variant, wich are known to be able to sometimes teleport things from one end to the other, as seen in the pipes present in Bowser's stomach in Bowser's inside story
    This means that they could be used as methods of transportation by other characters, if it weren't for the continuous stream of bullets coming out of them, actually if you think about it it's possible that this pipe design is *intentional* as it prevents Bowser's other minions to confuse them with normal transport pipes

    I can't believe you didn't mention the fact that the Sniper Bills have legs! If you jump on them with a counter they just walk back to their position, which makes them even weirder.

    I have hypothesized that the bill blaster is the sentient part and the bills themselves are just extensions of the blaster, they use there bills as long distance hands to get things and nourish themselves from far away feasting on exploded meat, as well as a detatchable head they use to servey the area.

    I like Bullet Bills, Banzai Bills, and Torpedo Teds. But I do admit they are a bit unsetting and quite a difficult enemy. The Mario Movie was probably the most intimidating use of one, with the "Bomber" Banzai Bill being honestly quite terrifying.

  • @ShelbyAQD

    I've never thought too deeply about this one, but if I had to make up an explanation for it all on the fly, I'd propose that Bullet Bills are actually kamikaze planes being piloted by miniaturized enemies inside them, likely some Bob-omb variant since they generally explode. The tanuki and cat variants have simply customized their rides. Totally.

    Bowser's Inside Story would imply that the Bills aren't sentient, but it's so inconsistent throughout the series, I don't think it matters. The Paper Mario ones react like they're sentient, the Sniper Bill clearly does, too, but then you've got the one from BIS, which just seems to be an object.

    If Bullet Bills are actually sentient they're most likely like adult moths as in they don't have mouths nor much of anything else since they won't live for long anyway, or they could be kind of automatons like those wind up Koopa robots that Bowser likes to toss around

  • @Marshall.R

    I think part of the answer to your Mario Kart question lies in the fact that items often don't work the same way they do in the main Mario games. For example, items like the star and mega mushroom and lightning apply their effects to both you and your kart.
    My personal headcanon (at least for Mario Kart 8) is that using the Bullet Bill instantaneously teleports you and your kart away from the racetrack and teleports a Bullet Bill in your place, with the reverse happening once it ends. During that time, since MK8 races are broadcast in universe like sporting events, your character could be watching the race from afar to know exactly where they'll be once they're brought back.

  • @aurafox1
    @aurafox1 2 года назад +4

    I've always understood Bullet Bills and Bob-Ombs to be machines, though Bob-Ombs demonstrate some sort of artificial intelligence, Bullet Bills are rarely ever treated as NPCs. They're fired infinitely out of canons, their arms never move from their sides, their movement is predictable, and their eyes and mouths always seem painted on.
    I'm sure there are RPGs and such that contradict this, but those already stretch the Canon (no pun intended) in different ways.

    • @Rediscool9

      Actually, I believe that none of the Mario RPGs portray Bullet Bills as having artificial intelligence or as NPCs.
