- BIG COUNTRY LIVE LOOK AWAY
GERMANY 1995
This time we run, this time we hide
This time we draw on all the fire we have inside
We need some time to find a place
Where I can wipe away the madness from your face
Our name is out, our name is known
Our name is everywhere but who knows where we've flown
I never meant to kill a man
But I will show you how to live like no one can
So look away, look away
Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold
Look away, look away
From the lies in the stories that were told
Look away, look away
From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul
I met you wild in a snowed up town
Where I was waiting tied and bound to be sent down
Then I broke loose, you weren't around
So I raised banks and trains until I tracked you down
Now Look away, look away
Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold
Look away, look away
From the lies in the stories that were told
Look away, look away
From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul
You followed me when I said no
You lay with me when there was nowhere safe to go
We made some friends but now it's done
I always knew that we would never find the sun
So look away, look away
Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold
Look away, look away
From the lies in the stories that were told
Look away, look away
From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul
So look away, look away
Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold
Look away, look away
From the lies in the stories that were told
Look away, look away
From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul
Absolute class!!!The best live band i ever had the pleasure of seeing.
Stuart, gone but never forgotten.
Most underated band ever......R.I.P. Stu
WTF! So great!
Look away, look away... =D
One of the best bands ever.
BC 4ever!
Nothing captures the spirit of my 80's years as the unique sound of this band. Sometimes when I listen to them I just get crushed with waves of emotions. What an excellent band!
Big Country will never die with music will live on for ever
The studio version of this track is great. The live version is utterly fantastic
Superlative is the word
I still love Big Country! Such a talented group
This has been at "Das Fest" in Karlruhe, Germany, a free concert in a local park. When Big Country went on stage, it began to rain cats and dogs. The band appreciated so much that a lot of the audience stayed, soaked to the bones. So it became a most memorable evening. When I think of an outstanding concert, this event always crosses my mind, because the band`s interaction with the people was almost personal. I`m glad I have been there...
big country....untouchable live. Stellar.
the bass line in this song is awesome ... wow
When I think of the eighties, I think of big country
What a Gig im hooked! such a superb band! Stuart what a talent cant take your eyes off him! makes me proud to be a Scot ;)
Saw them a couple of times back in the 80's...got a close up of Stuart when they were hovering around backstage waiting to leave. He was an incredibly beautiful man. Never seen a man that gorgeous since...his eyes were inhuman and so hypnotic...until he smiled. Everything may has well just went black then and there...lol! I literally swooned!
Laura M Good girl
Scotlands Jimi hendrix !..
Cant stop listening to this now I heard it on the radio earlier today.
I had rediscovered 'Look Away' myself about a week ago; Big Country have never ever been off my radar, but that particular song for some reason had been!
one of scotlands finest sons and still much loved from the days of the skids to the awesome big country i thank you .this song lives with me always
I've been a fan of BC since first hearing them in 1983 as a high school kid in Toronto. Even now, I shudder when I watch footage like this. They were so remarkable, so incredible live, so emotional, so real. Bands come and go. Very few will stay with me.. Big Country ranks at the top of my list. The quality and humanity of their music stands up to anything I've ever heard. I miss Stuart dearly as well. BC really change my life for the better.
What a sound! And great Tony Butler on bass. Love this song - miss you, Stu. R.I.P.
(Thanks for uploading so many BC vids.)
.
5 dislikes ??? Crazy People.... Pouring Rain, Flooded Venue but BC played on and played they did... Sick Performance they were so Unbelievably GREAT !!!!.. I will NEVER grow old of hearing & watching their performances... BRILLIANT !!!!
amen bro! every country has their own 'flavour', Scotland fuckin rocks! or as germans call it 'Schottland' :) Scotland blends perfectly with Deutschland! (Germany) Big Country fuckin rocks with the unique scottish sound applied to rock music-this band defines the very essence of the word 'TALENT' they are all naturals, beyond 'professional'.......I can't even begin to describe how this band touches me and makes me feel, fuckin sucked what happened with stuart adamson,......michael hutch hutchence as well,....INXS is australia's kick ass rock band......ireland and scotland are practically the same in every way, celts, celtic, they even used to speak just one gaelic, then it branched off for whatever reason, love the scottish raw ripping sounds that stretch to the very limits of just what music can be........amazing, incredible, and by scottish I mean big country and scottish music itself..........norway's band is 'a-ha' morten harket ans stuart adamson are so alike, and look alot alike, I wonder if they ever met each other,........and wonder if stuart and morten ever spoke off camera or on in interviews about each other and each other's bands.........I know a-ha did tour in scotland, but I don't know if big country ever toured in norway.....I'm sure norwegian fans love big country, as scottish fans love a-ha,......there's a youboob video on here where you can see morten harket join scorpions-german rock band klaus meine-any relation to meineke brakes? join klaus on stage and sing 'wind of change' together, I wasnt really surprised, a-ha is unique, sure, some pop, but a lot of rock, in their own way, definitely not pop n bubble gum, I'm sure morten would have enjoyed being in a harder rock band, he's as much a powerful singing influence, I think he plays guitar also, as EUROPE'S-swedish band, joey tempest.....EUROPE is an awesome band from sweden, major talented, been around since 70s like scorpions, and still kickin ass today...........big country is so scottish in every way-from their music sounds, the flavour of the band, to their 'dance steps' the way they hold their guitars, - everything! its so awesome-this band is NEVER dull nor boring, like ireland, scotland too is a fiery country, full of hungry souls, musically, artistically, and in so many ways, irish and scottish people are ALIVE people - hence 'stay alive'-in a big country, they are spirited rich people, rich in lore, tales, vibrancy, excitement! big country is literally a band on fire when performing live, and that fire is still there in their hearts when recording in the studio,-it just becomes a nice low steady flame, with beautiful poetic lyrics, ballads, etc-but then they set all those afire when performed in concert, I literally think they are going to jump outta their skin when performing, VERY POWERFUL less is more type of rock music, so many bands have raw energy, but its flat, laid out, dull, here and then gone, big country STAYS fresh, hungry, they are never quite 'exhausted' in the sense when they're 'through' performing, they're still restless, hungry, the concert never stops with a band like this, the concert is in their hearts-burns constantly, throughout their lives, I'm definitely sure they are vibrant people, as all irish and scottish people are, celebratory, these 'celts' lives are a celebration in and of itself,.....VERY LIVELY EMOTIONAL EXPRESSIVE PEOPLE, MY KIND OF PEOPLE, thats the real me also, german people are like this also, but it comes out in a different way with them.........on fire yet reserved, more 'mechanized' -not dull, just uniquely german :) in their own beautiful way also, but as for the irish and scots, they hold nothing back, give it all, let it all come out, its a very moving, touching, fascinating thing from them...........just look at the size of ireland and scotland, yet how much talent and brilliance has come out of these two practically alike-same countries, in form of music, artists, writers, food, drink, EVERYTHING in all aspects of life! amazing! I applaud ireland and scotland for their amazing achievements in humanity and what they've given the world! what is 'Rock on!' in scottish gaelic and irish gaelic? :)
BIG COUNTRY is......PASSION ON FIRE!!!!!!!
Master Blaster it seems to me that Scots fit more with Austrians. I am Austrian and have been there...
Drive, Passion and commitment....Big Country all over. Reminiscing tonight. Fantastic band!
A STAR ON EARTH
& NOW A STAR IN HEAVEN!
in tears watching this , what a talent rip stuart
the greatest song from the greatest band ever rest easy stuart
One of those rare bands that actually add something more to their performance when they go out live...
Puta som.....musica que mexe com a Gente,,,,,será eterna em nossas vidas.....
Valeu big country
Since I discovered this song a couple of days ago on VH1 Classic I've already listened to it for about 50 times! Unbelievable how these guys rock!
Saw em in Oxford Apollo when I was 13, and Mark Brzezicki drum clinic at Wembley Music Fair the same year. Blew me away both times. What a sad loss to music. R.I.P Stu.
best band to come out of the 80's.....far better than U2, simple minds etc etc. never got a fair crack of the whip regards air play on radio, which meant they never really had a massive general audience, but had and still have a massive hard core fan base.
Your joking right the had many hit singles and albums in the 80's, So what you chatting about
One of the best songs I've ever heard. The live version is awesome. Wow, how can a song mean so much? I know now.
By God , the best bass ive ever heard ........... it was felt . without drums and bass you dnt have a team/band. 35 yrs ive been doin it, must say that Bass is GOOD.
I was lucky enough to see them live twice and still get choked up and moved by the lyrics to many of the songs.A great band and In a Big Country ,in particular, gets me through many a moment when I feel defeated -but lift my head and come up screaming!
First band I ever saw live and blew my socks off. Been upto Dunfermaline to see the bench made in his name awesome. R.I.P. Stuart you will never be forgotten :)
I always loved big country !!

thanks for you're support.big country will always ROCK.
RIP Mr.Adamson!I would say a waste of talent that he died so young but he wrote songs like this and many more just as good.God bless you Stuart, you're missed everyday.
Stuart was one of the best guitarists ,without doubt ...
I heard this song for the first time in 25 years just the other night. On Walmart muzak of all places. I knew and liked it when I was a little kid, but had completely forgotten about it.
Love this song
This song is their best, and it might be one of their best performances. I saw them 1994 live at Stirling University, in Scotland. Just a year earlier - and that was an acoustic show, which also was AWESOME
I sang this on the way to to school 7 year old, me dad had "the seer " on relentlessly.
Hehe, that's so cool! 😀 I was into ABBA and Boney M at that age (in '77) 😄
Great Band saw them twice in Geleen love it
SUPER SONG !
They are, loving it.Go for it boys.
I really miss Rockpalast where this was taken from. We were sitting in front of the TV for hours just to see all these crazy good bands!
Well, I lived in BC, long before it was a land known by many; I miss many I met there, and I am sure they miss me. When I leave, the land will be, without me. Those, who knew me, showed me how to live, and I try just that. Look away...snow will fall and rain shall drip....and I shall be no...know I was. Cheers Earthlings, favstout
Amo as músicas do Big Country.
that bass line is sick
I thank you for this comment. You are right Tony Butler does an extraordinary job!
You’re so right, Tony Butler was magnificent.
Such a talented man
Fantastic performance, first class.
Super Gruppe.
Great bass playing as usual.
You mean "as unusal"? Tony always plays some notes more. Great!
what a session. Adamsons was still on the tops in live mode.
The one and only, nae band like ye boys!
Rip Stuart.
Thanks for posting mate.
probably one of the hardest working bands ive seen, saw them do a small gig in my own town, then supported U2,and then headline all in the same year,in notts, awesome
Oh Emm Gee, Big Country and U2 together back in those days sounds like a dream! Sadly, I never got to see either band live and in person.
love this song!!!!
Very cool thanks for posting all of these. My favorite band. I wish there were more CDs of theirs available here in the states.

So sad. So brilliant his guitar. So sad was his death. You ask yourself why. Look away look away.
How I would've loved to have seen Stuart Adamson and Phil Lynott together in a band...
Nothing beats this ❤️
Awesome live version
saw them as a 17 year old in osnabruck germany. was told by stuart to eff off for ruffling his hair lol. been a fan ever since. sadly missed.
Great band,great memories
My Favorite band is big country

I'm going to see there acoustic show on Tuesday real looking forward to it
i wish you listened to your own word,s stuart, and showed us how to live like none can brother, see you at the great gig in the sky
!!
This song is totally superlative
Too bad that the excellent Adamson is not so known today (and he is cool, too). Go figure, we have 1,000,000,000 hits on Gangman or Lady Gaga, can you understand the maddness of the modern world? This one should have 1,300,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 hits, when compared to the today's crappiest hits!
What a loss, always keep an eye on your friends
Tony Butler ist the best real Bass-Monster!!!
legend!!
Fucking great band , proper missed today in 2018 need them
I ❤️ his songs this song I play it full blast at 6 am 😂 my kids don't like it 😂
God I love this band
the best
Danke Stuart !!!
Awesome! Shared on Google+
I only wish Stuart was still with us❤❤❤
Good live version! Little speech on the end is funny. ´Proost´ is a Dutch word, meaning cheers! Not a German word I believe...
That chunky riff near the end of the song, I cant resist it, ...my mrs just dont get it.
@MarkWiltshireBass, Thanks, I see upon closer inspection it is an ESP. One thing for sure, he palys a mean guitar!!!
best band line up new stuff grim
Grandissimi!
nice..
These guitars have different tones but the sound can be similized by the use of effects. Most musos switch from a les paul to a fender to save their backs. The gibson is much heavier and a pain to hunk around your neck for 2 hours on a gig !!!
Wunderbar. Grüße Deutschland !!
R.I.P MAN MISSED BIG TIME
Sadly Stuart took his own life in Dec 2001. In Hawaii. Let's try not reflect on that now. Big Country are back again !!! With Mike doing a good job on vocals!!
Stuart ... R.I.P
man, what was goin on in stuart's life...........sounds a lot like michael hutch hutchence of aussieland's INXS..........asphixiated by a belt? in hawaii? I dont get it..........doing drugs? I think hutchence was same way, and in a hotel also, like stuart, sounds more like murder.........like kung fu tv show actor david carradine-weird flipping way he died-the circumstances.........and I dont believe for a second bruce lee and his son brandon, the way they died was an accident..........
Quality band live for sure ........@ TheJohn656 .......Press indicateded it was suicide...so sad, the guy was just so talented
