I know a bloke who spent over ten years in Chiang Rai in his thirties. He seemed to quite like it. Same issues regarding smog for at least part of the year, though. Inexpensive apartments. 15:01 Jesus - a Liverpudlian.
Good day my friend. I will be moving to Chang Rai . I’m from Alaska and hope the weather isn’t hot year round. Do you think this is a good starting point for me. I always enjoy your personality and channel. I’m happy you have 10,000 subscribers. You will prosper . Keep up the great work . Thank you Neil
That region of the country will be the coolest and not as humid as other. But it will still be hot during the daytime most of the year. I don't know if that's a good start for you or anyone. That's going to be up to you. You will find out soon.
@ Niel wagner my brother lives in the nation Forrest there ak go to Baguio city Philippines 70s year round 4800 ft elevation North Luzon. Good starting point. That's where I'll be in November
I bet I could get around Chiang Rai fairly well with only a bicycle taking the side streets. I wonder what food market has the most fresh meat, fish, eggs, and cheese, not to mention fruits, and vegetables for my blender. I would need a kitchen in a quiet, peaceful place, within walking distance of the best fresh food market available in Chiang Rai.......I would look to stay long term.
Keyframe5 😆 Naw man the info is what I’m after. Showing the apartments giving prices etc. I will say that I’d like to see a more current video. Why did you wait 9 months to upload this?
Oh I thought you like more face time.. :( As for having more current videos.. RUclips is hard (to make money/living), at least the genre I’m doing. I'm no longer working or focusing on it too much right now, as I have changed RUclips as my #1 priority to somewhere bottom of my list. RUclips is just a hobby as of now, maybe that will change in the future.. who know..
Keyframe5 Wish you all the best of luck. Good thing is no matter where it comes from (RUclips, or otherwise) you don’t need much to live on in Thailand.
The advice is that it's only a way to advertise. If you could persuade people to buy a book on the 70% royalty Kindle option then it would be possible to make a few bucks.
I'm planning on working remotely in Thailand for a few months. Problem is, I don't have a driving license. Do you think it's possible to live in Chiang Rai without one if I stay close to the central parts?
Maybe you can go to driving school to get a license in Chiang rai, I've heard that is easy and quick to get a license there. Otherwise you pay 400-1000baht everytime when the police stop you.
Really interesting to know that prices for apartments in Chiang Rai are so affordable. How is the internet speed there in general? Do you think it has any chances of becoming a Digital Nomad hub like Chiang Mai?
I only stayed at one place and the internet was decent for me. Around 10 mbs download and 5 mbs upload. I don't know about the digital nomad stuff, but if they have that in Chiang Mai, then stick with it, why go to Chiang Rai?
The people who hang out at Punspace and other coworking spaces and are always travelling around and claim to have a location independent Job (many actually don´t and have to go back home when the money runs out...). 10 mbs seems good enough, at least for me. Thank you.
How did you manage to drive a Scooter in Thailand considering you come from Canada, people drive on the Left side, while in Thailand they drive on the Right-hand side, was it tough for you?
Very dangerous be careful when you are driving inThailand. They not stay on their own lane. They ride/drive on the shoulder on the wrong way .So you have to look out for them. And if you are the foreigners it’s always your fault.I can’t drive in Thailand I didn’t have enough nerve.I was born there. When I am there when I get out the house I always feel like my life is hanging on the thread.
@rogerluli I think you will need to speak some Thai or know a Thai person to help you. All the farang men I saw there have a Thai wife that can help them. You will need some basic Thai to really enjoy Chiang Rai if you live there by yourself. I know you can get away without a lick of Thai in Chiang Mai.
I want to add. You might be able to get away from speaking Thai if you're always in the downtown area. Around that golden click tower. Outside of that. Not too many Thais will speak English.

Good to see some of these video on Chaing Rai. Everyone else seems to do these on Chiang Mai
You gotta check out mango rental. Its about 2500 for the whole month
Good video. Thanks. Chiang Rai seems to be inexpensive compared to Chiang Mai. I like the smaller, quieter town.
Thank you so much my new friend I have just subscribed to you.. your vlog was amazing and informative .. cheers 🍻

Enjoyed the video..but did I miss the information you were going to give at the end on how to find an apartment in Thailand?
Renthub! Type renthub + Chiang Rai + Thailand into Google. It's staggering what you can find.
www.renthub.in.th/en/apartment/chiang-rai
well made, well below my budget, but well done
If I rent how much for monthly rent?

Slightly cheaper, but not much.

you could video a close up of hotel signs
How many days did it take for you to eliminate all the roosters?
Need in-unit laundry with all the sweating i'd be doing in thailand lol
How did you manage to drive a Scooter in Thailand considering you come from Canada, people drive on the Left side, while in Thailand they drive on the Right-hand side, was it tough for you?
Sir 2k6 Left/Right? It’s like the rest of Asia. Drive down the middle and trust the others to avoid you. That’s what everyone else does.

Good work. It seems you have a particular liking for Chiang Rai. Do you prefer it over CM?
It's a quiet place, smaller than chiang mai.

Is it possible to get by in Chiang Rai only being able to speak English ?
Hey Greg, can you send me the link where you talk about the King?
@rogerluli I think you will need to speak some Thai or know a Thai person to help you. All the farang men I saw there have a Thai wife that can help them. You will need some basic Thai to really enjoy Chiang Rai if you live there by yourself.
I know you can get away without a lick of Thai in Chiang Mai.
Unfortunately I'm an ethical person with enough money not to need to scam people...
