Luis D. Hernández True THATS the only thing I don’t like about Thailand it’s very dirty and polluted. I live there and in Tokyo and Singapore. If I could put the Thai people in any of those areas. It would be perfect.
Do appreciate your videos. Coming home from some weeks in BKK. Your videos feel real and how it is really around that area. Thanks for doing this - enjoy your life!
Great video, thanks for sharing. How about a video explaining how you handled the visa issue for the past year and some tips on how we can follow in your footsteps :) thanks again!
I stayed in the Tide Resort in Bang Saen many years ago and immediately fell in love with the place. There were very few falang around and being almost smack in the middle of Pattaya and Bangkok added to the attraction.
Since Kev's departure it would be very helpful to many people to see options for places to live, health insurance, etc. Thanks again for sharing and providing great content!
Kru Ploppy yeah personally I’d be paying for health insurance! Too many accidents happening and you just don’t know the minute. If you can’t afford to pay for health insurance then you can’t afford to live in Asia (that’s the way I look at it)
@@Stephen-Steven-Stephens Kev is a really nice guy with a genuine heart to help everybody, but unfortunately, he made too many mistakes for himself. of course, not having insurance when retired( big smoker) and then when he was diagnosed with cancer, he didn't go back to get western treatment. now it is too late, a lesson for many Expats who think retirement is a breeze.
nikorn chinakul yes that may be the case for you in America, but it doesn’t happen in Asia or Europe. I’ve heard stories of ambulances coming for people after an accident. Then have been told they’ve no health insurance and have just left them lying there.
Very useful and informative, im fairly new to your videos but not new to thailand and pattaya and surrounding area been going there probably 2 or 3 times a year for about 10 years. I like to hire and ride big bikes over there too for tours etc. Thanks for posting i found it great information and great quality video etc. Thanks again!
this is the best cost of leaving I have seen about Thailand, with receipt on hands, this was the best. I am glad you did not include food or entertainment because too many variable
You said the right, the best cost of "Leaving" , because the odds are high you wont last long trying to live on 1000 usd a month. I can guarantee that.
watching this after a couple of condos and house in Pattaya. this condo and the whole area would be fine for me and quieter than in the CBD. From your videos great delicious local food choices for me seen too. lots of options
@Direct Netstores Be ready to have a bug out plan because when the Dictator of Cambodia dies its going to be a civil war because the people don't like him. Also, to try and pass leadership to his son Hu san is getting a ton of money from China. I don't put it pass him to make his country a communist country so his family can stay in power.
Funny, i was watching a bangkok cost of living video from a really new channel and this came up as a suggestion when his video was done. I haven't watched this in a long time, Loucous! I kind of forgot how cute the Bangsaen area is from your videos. Less hustle and bustle, maybe. I wonder how prices there now compare to these!
Excellent info video. I have been lucky in travelling in Thailand through the years - short and medium periods. One thing I found after adding up my accommodation, food etc - they are inexpensive but the killer is alcohol. It's roughly the price of a local meal - beers that is. The local drink/mix their local whisky - cheaper. Yes it's the same expense (sive) as back at home. So when I add up what I spend on things I needed, roof over my head, food, water etc but then wow that's double again with just beers(don't really need). I see where it has gone - for me that is.
Good timing. I was just getting ready to send you suggestions on future vlogs, and that topic was on my list. I have just finished watching all of your vlogs and we don't know your history. I suspect that you are retired military or police. You seem to be fluent in Thai, so how long did it take? I am a big fan of both Thailand Rob and Kev, and both of them revealed details of their lives through their vlogs. I think your fans would enjoy getting to know you more. Just my opinion. Keep up the good work. All thumbs up.
Good informative video on base cost to live in Thailand in a decent condo.I would very much like you to post a video on what your visa situation is.With regards to visa runs or if you are on a retirement visa.A video about opening a Thai bank account would also be another home run.Only makes sense for expats to get a Thai bank account and wire money to it instead of getting bent over for ATM fees in a foreign country by their own bank back in USA/Canada/Britain etc.
Absolutely... Takes time to find the best place, balanced with all things considered. I have and always will place the importance of a my residence at the top of the list. Not easy as there as so many things to factor in. I will make great sacrifices budgetarily to mange that. But the search includes good value. Once you fine that balance it's a sigh of relief, but if you don't respect the reality that it usually takes time folks may fall flat, and often make poor decisions. There is no place that is perfect. That is key to remember when searching. But, if you play your cards right and stick with the plan you may find something close to it. I have finally done so with my place (hopefully soon to return to) in Chiang Mai. Just this fact alone has given me loads of relief and in many cases happiness that took years of searching. It was well worth the time I spent looking for it.
Of course... now you have me curious as to what is your apartment you are moving to.. and how much better... for how much money?? Great vlog though as I am gearing up to moving there later this year.
I spent a week in Bangsaen about 15 months ago. Nice town that caters to many Thai getting out of Bangkok for a break. People were friendly, but not many spoke English. Driving into BKK or Pattaya for running errands was crazy due to all the traffic there.
You are getting very popular and I hope you can see why! Very, very informative and helpful. Yes, please do a comparison between a studio/condo and an apartment in terms of cost and amenity. Some have pools and gyms right. Some rooms are just like hotel rooms with no separate bedroom? Also, what about the old condos or Russian populated, should avoid? What about buying once you've found the perfect place? Thank you again.
Before I start running off: great video (I've never stayed in Bangsaen) nice to know what the costs were for you. That said: I have DTAC 2Mbps (30 day) 330 Baht (a month). Never seem to run out of data / coverage excellent. You might want to look in to it? Though, I can't go in to True Mobile in Central Festival and have a Latte while I pay my bill (that is a plus - true coffee latte very good!) I do save a little each month w/ DTAC ?!? You might want to consider paying a bit more and getting a South facing (end/corner) unit w/ the evening breezes, you might actually save over the aircon bill ? Most nights (even when it's hot out, I almost get chills from the breeze). Great stuff (as always), when do we see the new Rides 4 Kickz home ?
Good info and thanks for sharing. Haters gonna hate! I will be in the country next month and hope to find something up north reasonably priced. Seriously, thanks!
Mate, that was very helpful. You are inspiring me to think outside the box. I am enjoying watching your journey. I do have a question that might be considered personal...is your long term plan to stay in Thailand until the "very end" or do you have plans to go back to (I assume) the US at some point?
Awesome video...very helpful. Bang Saen looks like a nice place to call home. Pattaya would be too much for me to live 24/7/365 but nice to have it so close when you need to break the monotony. One fine day.....???
not a bad unit. certainly doable for the price. I prefer a bigger "living area" with a couch and a reclining chair etc. But doable. thank you for showing

Great Info, I pay $500 dollars to park my 1976 motor home In watford city North Dakota. $90 for unlimited internet. I love the idea of getting to a different place, learn a new language and perhaps leaning Muay Thai
I love your videos. To the point and I can understand what your saying....very important. Best of luck. No one ever talks about the process of getting your deposit back. How long does it take to get your deposit and do they do it if you're leaving the country or moving to another city.
In bangkok its a pain to pay the electric bill, but i used the motorbike taxis, gave them the bill, and money, sent them away to the electric company. When they came back the handed over the change, and then i asked how much i owed them, and it was like 40b or so, and gave them like a 100b tip. Super easy instead of me having to spend like an hour or more to fix it one time per month. Earned more working.
Great video...thanks for the price breakdown...offhand would you know of any condos that allow small pets...in my case my cat? Jomtien non-existent, Bangkok has many condos that allow one small pet. Would prefer to live in Bangsaen of course...any info would be helpful...
Very informative, thank you. I guess your mobile is prepaid rather then post paid? Also just wondering, if it's unlimited data, why you don't use it as a 4g hotspot instead of the dedicated internet line? Hope you're happy in your new place!
do you still have to leave every 90 days for 24hrs if your not a thai citizen? thanks for the video was very informative, how far are you from pattaya or Bangkok?
actually, you've never had to leave for 24 hours technically. and it's 30 or 60 days pending an extension. 90 days if you purchased a visa and got the in country 30 day. you can leave and come back the same day. legally ok
Another great video. Much appreciated. Video suggestion for you. Do you have any tips for converting your dollars to baht? When I have visited T'land and withdrew from banks, you end up with less than official exchange rates plus bank fees from both banks. Do you know any tricks around that? Is it different if you have a Thai bank account? Your situation? Thanks again!
Take the most cash you can. I'm from Australia & can leave the country with $10K. On a holiday, I budget for $2K a week so I take excess cash over for my friends who live there. Once they have transferred funds into my account of course. Usually our group of 10 will travel with $100K . At cash booths in Chon Buri you loose about .20 or .25. So the exchange rate may be 21.00 to $1AUD but you get 20.75 baht. If I exchanged before I left Australia I would get from the same 21.00 Baht proably 19.80 Baht.
You didn't mention the option (or at least I didn't hear you) of using a phone banking application to pay your bills. I use the Kasikorn android application and am able to pay my water, electric, and phone internet from my phone. I'm currently on a brief visit back to the US and was able to pay my Thailand True phone bill from Seattle, which was nice.
That is another option, you might want to watch yesterday's Pattaya News though, apparently Kasikorn had some glitch since Friday where online banking payments appeared to go through but were never processed. True now has an English version of their App which is nice 👍
Good luck! It 's still too unstable for me. I am retired and make above average monthly benefits however, still to expensive to live almost anywhere in the United States.
Strange question...what do you do during the day in such a small town? I am considering moving over for six months but am scared I will get bored after a few weeks in the same place?
I'm impressed by how clean everything is along the drive you took. Lots of garbage and recycling bins.
It's clean because of the lockdown.

That is another option, you might want to watch yesterday's Pattaya News though, apparently Kasikorn had some glitch since Friday where online banking payments appeared to go through but were never processed. True now has an English version of their App which is nice 👍
Retirees need something to do.
Great video, shame I can't retire for another 15 years, I suppose yearly holidays will have to do until then.
Good luck! It 's still too unstable for me. I am retired and make above average monthly benefits however, still to expensive to live almost anywhere in the United States.
How was your Fiber internet..

As well as reliability
Very nice video, very informative, thanks!
Strange question...what do you do during the day in such a small town? I am considering moving over for six months but am scared I will get bored after a few weeks in the same place?
I think that condo works so well for you because you have your own transportation.
Can you tell us about health insurance options?
