This is exactly why I didn't get Berkey either. In my research, I found that they didn't back up their claims with any formal data. I've had my ProOne Big+ for about 6 months now and I'm very pleased.
Completely agree. Was surprised the Berkey did not really provide certification in anyway of the claims for their filter. So far, we have really liked the ProOne. I wish it could be a little larger capacity as we fill it up 2-3 times per week. But, the water quality is drastically better than our regular tap water and saved on any disposable bottles/jugs. Thanks for watching and posting your comment. Andrew
We have had a ProOne for over 2 years. I like that it comes w/a stainless steel spigot....& its filters filter out flouride. You do not need a separate filter for that purpose. I find the easiest way to make sure there's always plenty of water in it is to replace what you remove when you remove it. If you fill a half gal.pitcher, replace half a gal. of water into the top right then.
Thanks for sharing your personal experience with it. I’m still happy with it overtime. Overdue to change out the filters but it still works really well and removes the chlorine taste from the tap water in my apartment.
Nice to hear that the ProOne filter is still a great option after all your research. Hopefully you will enjoy it as much as we have. Let me know if you have any questions about it.
Nice review and I agree with your points. I have a Berkey Royal and I’m switching to ProOne filters after Berkey’s run around on a replacement. No need to ALSO buy the nasty Berkey fluoride filters 👍🏻
Thanks. I really like the ProOne so far. Definitely worth the price and a drastic improvement in water quality. Thanks for watching and the comment. Andrew
Do you clean the filters every month? Do you have a video showing how you clean the filters? Is the only reason to use more than one filter at a time just to speed up the time it takes to filter? I read one review that said the stainless steel container can rust it you don’t clean the container often enough. Is that true? Do you have to clean the stainless steel container every moth as well?
That’s quite the number of questions. I just take it apart and wash it out about once per month. Haven’t had any issues thus far. The additional filters just prolong how long you can wait before replacing them. Does not speed them up.
Also I noticed the spigot is higher than the bottom of the bottom tank. So when the water empties out to that point, you can’t get anymore water out of the spigot unless you tilt the tank. So that water just sits there. Right? Do you normally empty that water out and start fresh? Or do you just add more to the top tank and leave the water sitting? Will it not overflow if I fill the top tank to the top? Sorry. Not sure if my questions make sense lol
Yes. There is a small amount of residual water that will be there based on the level. Usually, I just refill the tank up to the top metal line thats about 3-4 inches from the top each time it needs to be replaced. Then, I will clean it out about every other week.
Andrew I have used bottled spring water for the past 40 years as city "tap" water was nasty with everything they put in it and I refused to drink it. What is your honest opinion regarding the taste of the water from the Pro One gravity filter system ? I plan to buy one this week from the Pro One website and nobody in any videos I've watched had commented on the actual taste ???
It’s definitely improved compared to tap water. My tap water has chlorine and the filter still removes the chlorine taste even though I am well well overdue for replacement of the filters. Overall I’ve been extremely happy with the filter system. It’s stayed clean with minimal upkeep and just needs to be refilled whenever emptied all the way. Only drawback is it takes a lot of space on the counter. But it’s much more environmentally friendly than bottled water which just produces waste. Let me know if you have additional questions.
Thanks Andrew !! I can't wait to order one and will put 2 of the 7inch filters in it I'm tired of plastic bottles and the health problems from plastics. So the Pro One should solve these issues.@@AndrewRockRUclips Thanks again for the video
They do offer a pitcher and travel/camping/hiking filtration systems. It seems pitcher filters do not last long till replacing. Sounds as if for the hiking one, perhaps two of their filters could be used???? And does filter out glysophates. All are infused with silver I think. Thanks for your video. I look at my limited counter space and family of cats. My concern is that I cannot scoot it back under the cabinets.
Yeah. I wouldn’t bother with the pitchers. There are also other filtration systems like osmosis and ones that directly connect to the sink or water line that are always an option. Usually more expensive though.
I have bought a Berkey but am just hearing the remarks about not having any proof of Berkey's claims. Not happy to hear this. Can I buy the Pro One filters and will it work in the Berkey container? Question on the filters of Pro Ones; it says it last for 6 months. Berkey's say it will last for 5 years. 6 months is not very long! Not sure I like that but I do want the best filter!
I am not familiar with the set-up and layout of the Berkey. So, I really cannot help on whether the Pro One Filters will fit into it. You would probably need close up photos or video with dimensions to determine this further. As far as the Pro One Filters, the website states that the filter lasts up to 1 year or 1,400-2,800 gallons. They say that if you start noticing it filter slower or having a different taste it should be replaced sooner. I have not had to replace it quite yet. But, plan on doing so for both of the filters at least once per year to maintain the filtration system. As far as the certification, Pro One's website states it is the only filter that is both NSF/ANSI-4 certified. However, someone who viewed this video did comment that this may not actually be the case. You will have to go down and track down the comment on what they specifically said and whether it really is that case or not. Regardless, we have been super happy with the Pro One. We used it daily and refill it probably every 2-3 days. Everyone in the household drinks from it, even the dog. And the water quality is drastically better than the tap as far as taste and I would assume purity. Let me know if you have any additional questions. Andrew
There is no proof of Berkey's claims of longevity of filters. Any test Berkey has done test for 200 gallons, except one that tested to 1,000 gallons. So Berkey can't back its statement of 5 years or 2000 gallons..

That is good, but when they say the filter lasts 1000 or 1,200 gallons, I’m curious how clean the water is through that duration. I’m sure the testing is costly, but would be good to know.
Good point. Easiest way would to test like 3 separate time points 0, 500, 1000 gallons of use to see how the quality changes with time. They recommend replacing it once per year or after 1000 gallons. We refill ours around every 2-3 days. So that would be like 500-600 gallons in a year.

Thanks for showing us the inside of the unit! Not everyone does this. Thanks for watching and the comment/question. Just took a look. The bottom has three areas for filters and we currently have two in place that initially came with it. Then the third slot is plugged with a rubber plug that inserts into it. Looking at it I do not see any obvious mold or mildew under it, which would likely be the issue long term if it weren’t cleaned. My plan is at about a year when the filters are due to be changed I will probably get 3 filters anyways. Not sure it’ll improve the quality much but maybe will make the filters last longer. Thus far I haven’t noticed any problems with water quality over time. No regrets other than having a larger might be more convenient. We end up refilling it about 3-4 times per week. Let me know if you have any other questions and yes that’s the brewista goose neck kettle. I do not think it’s easy to find the gold/wood design for stove top but they do have it readily available in silver. They also have electric kettles as well. I have never timed it but probably about that. You definitely have to wait a little while but once some of it drains through you can drink/use some of it prior to it entirely filtering through.
You can look back through the comments below as I think I left links directly to what they discuss and provide on the website. Buy if you Google the search for proone and NSF. The company had it listed on their website directly. Otherwise they make it pretty easy to find on their website too.

About 2 hours or so. I have the two filters in there. Haven't replaced them since first purchase and long overdue, but still subjectively improves the water quality and removes the chlorine from the tap water.
@@AndrewRockRUclips ok so that sounds about right for my 1 filter to take awhile. I’m wondering if my filter needs to be cleaned. I read somewhere you can run it under cold water and scrub it with the abrasive side of the included sponge? Kinda scared to mess it up. But sounds easy enough lol thanks for the quick reply!
Hi I have the same big filter. I’ve had for years I’m trying to buy new filters there 150 for the 2 - 7 inch. It’s to much. It use to be around 100$. Looking for a different brand replacement filter any suggestions.
Hmm. To be honest, I haven’t replaced mine yet. But probably should. Last time I checked they were like $80 or so which wasn’t terrible for every year replacement. $100 is a little steep. Could try and reach out directly to the company for a discounted price? Otherwise, I really do not know anything about alternative filters that would fit and it kind of defeats the purpose of doing a bunch of background research and choosing the Proone over other brands. Because really it’s the filters that do all of the work. Even $100 is cheaper than other systems or having the buy bottled water in some form. Really depends on your perspective on what you used before. Sorry I can’t be much help here.
If the suggested life is 1,000 gallons OR 1 year as stated previously, why not just use one 7" filter instead of 2 filters. If you are filtering 500 gallons per year this would cut your filter cost in half but probably double your filter time.
I would not really know. Do not really have that situation with my water as it’s directly from the faucet which is not high iron content. So far filters still work exceptionally well.
@@chriss4365 No clue whether that would be an issue with the ProOne filters as well. If it is then you probably need to somehow improve the water quality straight from the source before throwing it in the filter.
@@chriss4365 I've used the KDF/GAC under-counter filter from Pure Earth Technologies for several years -- just the single unit with no faucet. The big thing is to use the KDF/GAC filter in it. Even if I buy the ProOne, I'll be filling from the tap that has that filter, so essentially a pre-filter. Maybe that would work for you. An added expense, but they do last a long time! Rated for 12,000 gallons.
I leave town for a month at a time. I'm trying to find out how to store the filters on this model while I'm gone. Alexapure needs to stay wet in a bag in the refrigerator. Berkey needs to dry out, but their fluoride filters can only be stored for 14 days.
Too be honest I really can’t help you here…have not ever dealt with having to store them. Wonder if you could just reach out to ProOne directly? Andrew

I have several coffee videos as well if you want to look into them. Not the best, but it’s something I enjoy regularly. Thanks again for watching. Andrew
WHEN YOU BUY NEW FILTERS IT COMES WITH NEW CLEAR PLUGS INSTEAD OF RUBBER,LOVE MY PROONE,JUST MAKE SURE IT REMOVES FLUORIDE ,AND WHEN THEY TURN COLLAR OR SLOW FLOW REMOVE THE AND CLEAN WITH THE SPONGE SUPPLIED.
@@vicamaral Thanks for the comment. Not really sure what you were trying to say in that last part of it, but good to know that they will provide replacement clear plugs when purchasing the new filters. Please get back to us on that last part. Thanks. Andrew
@@AndrewRockRUclips I think they meant that if it starts flowing slower, then maybe the spigot needs to be removed & cleaned.
Does it take about an hour to filter a full cycle to the bottom?
I have never timed it but probably about that. You definitely have to wait a little while but once some of it drains through you can drink/use some of it prior to it entirely filtering through.
Could you confirm that the NSF certification is for the water quality as I read it was just for the materials used for the unit. Thanks
You can look back through the comments below as I think I left links directly to what they discuss and provide on the website. Buy if you Google the search for proone and NSF. The company had it listed on their website directly. Otherwise they make it pretty easy to find on their website too.
What grade of stainless steel is it?
Website says 304 stainless steel whatever that means.
Thank you for this video. Glad I bought the right filtration system!
No problem! Thanks for watching! We use it everyday for all of our drinking water at this point. Have to refill it routinely but definitely a step up in quality from tap water.
Let me know what you think of it when it arrives.
Andrew
Got it the other day will set up soon will let you know how water tastes.
Okay it's all set up and yes you can taste the difference. Tastes clean and tap water tastes metallic in comparison. Yes I'm refilling frequently, too! Thanks again for the video!
@@_pugito1659 Nice! I noticed a difference immediately. Thanks for sharing your experience with it. Hopefully, you will remain happy with the filter system for a while!!
Andrew
How long does it take to filter that entire thing? I have 1 filter and it seems slow 🤔
@@zacharyaceves8214 Think I took it entirely out and cleaned it once but did not notice much difference.
What do you do about high iron in the water that will clog the filters fast.
I would not really know. Do not really have that situation with my water as it’s directly from the faucet which is not high iron content. So far filters still work exceptionally well.
@@AndrewRockRUclips my water from faucet has high iron its clogged filters before.
@@chriss4365 No clue whether that would be an issue with the ProOne filters as well. If it is then you probably need to somehow improve the water quality straight from the source before throwing it in the filter.
Pre filter your water with a more economical filter or charge more frequent cartridge changes to the additional contamination load.
Andrew
It says this in the instructions. It says to dry them out and store them in a terry cloth rag until you need to use them.
@@CarnivoreConservative I purchased it and that's what I do and it seems to work perfectly.
So I travel one week a month, I have two glass water jugs and fill them with what is in my tank, open air dry my system for the day before I go and then close it up dry and go.
Thank you for this! I just found out Berkey may also have other issues
No problem. Let me know if you have any questions and thanks for watching.
And are being sued.
@@dylanoneil2560 They are only coming after Berkey because they claim to filter out viruses, a big no no now up against the corrupt big pharma mafia that wants you to take a jab for everything.
Has anyone had their spout leak/drip even when turned off?
Personally. I haven’t. Could try loosening and retightening?
My filter water is testing about two digits less than my tap water. I am guessing it is not filtering anything at all.
Two digits for what?
@@AndrewRockRUclips well… its a tester to test the cleanliness of water. So my pro one filter is 142, and the tap water tests at 144.
I wish you would say something about the water quality after filtration.
Good point. It definitely is better. I am way way overdue to swap out the filters but they still objectively improve the quality out of the tap water.

Thanx for your reply. I really like your video and appreciate your review.
So I understand from your review, the quality of your filtered water does not match mineral water.
It's just like any other filtered water only coming out of a gravity gallon.
@@Ronickon No idea what the quality of mineral water would mean. You can check the specifications of the water quality on Pro Ones website or other third party websites. There’s plenty of information about the filtration results.
Want to also remove glyphosates (spelling-pesticides, substance I heard just gets put on food. Unless you get organic- but water sources). Problem: Size of most will not slide under cabinets. I have cats that like to jump on everything. Wish makers made shorter and I could handle the extra couple inches in diameter.
You’d have to look at their reports on how well it does for removing those. Would suspect it would be able to as those are usually larger molecules chemically. Not sure a good solution for where to place it. Maybe on a counter the cats can’t reach. I have it on the stand but you could put it directly on the counter without the stand. I just received a water distiller that I need to review/unbox. That’s always another option but takes a lot more energy and kind of defeats the purpose environmentally.
@@AndrewRockRUclips Sometimes the filters from my little research, they can stop filtering out certain items after so many gallons. Also need distiller because one cat gets stones. Therefore, all get distilled water. Interested in distiller too for that particular reason. Looked at some. Just have to understand wattage and all these other numbers that electrically one needs to know about. Got a manual stovetop distiller but it took hours and not worth it. Needless to say, have two big stockpots now. Have small space. I go to Walmart to fill up jugs. A 25 minute trip. Tend to keep enough for two weeks. I am tired of so many jugs plus distilled water jugs. Wanted something simple, affordable, and that I could do. Look forward to your water distiller review. Also a review about how to keep groundhogs and possums from wanting to live under garage would be very handy. Watched some but no solutions. Want to try a time and big boom box with sufficient vibrations. Incidentally, possums do make good pets.
@@jokich6379 Ha. Can’t really help you with the other animals. Maybe a fence? Or concrete wherever they are getting under it at? As for the rest, it sounds like the gravity system is your best bet. It’s really convenient and easy to work with. Just need to maintain the filters by replacing them over time.
Can’t make my mind up which size to get. The big one is out of stock.
Biggest one for sure. I end up refilling mine every 1-3 days. So definitely worth the larger size.
Does the stand come with the set?
Yes.

The certification they don’t use in Berkeley is because they have their own testing
Thanks.
I live in a 100+ yr old building. We have lead pipes. Does anyone else have know if ProOne will filter this out?
Thanks for watching and the comment. I am sorry that you are in the situation where you know the pipes are lead. But, at least you are aware and taking the steps to avoid exposure. I looked on Pro Ones website (prooneusa.com/proone-lab-report/). Per their lab data, it states that the filter will filter out 99.9% of lead. Given you know that you have the lead in your water. If you go the route of getting the Pro One, I would recommend taking samples of your water before and after using the Pro One to get tested to make sure it filters the water to the necessary standards. Otherwise, you should probably look into some other longer term solution. Personally, I cant really speak to those options as I have not dealt with that situation before, but hopefully someone else on here may be able to help.
Let me know if you have any additional questions and I hope that helps.

@@AndrewRockRUclips Thank you for the feedback. 🙂
3-5 gallon a week? You need drink more water I use two gallon a day need ten gallon for 7 days drinking only
Yeah. Always kind of dehydrated. Work long hours and don’t bring water with me. So really only use it at home occasionally.
Do you need electricity?
No. None at all. Simply gravity feeds through the filter into the bottom part.
Are you still liking this system?
Yeah. Use it for all my water. Still haven’t changed the filter but definitely due for it. Haven’t noticed an issue with water quality so far. Definitely would recommend it.
how long will it take the crap taste to go away with my pro one. the books says 2-3 runs but ive done 5 and still tastes like dookie
Not sure what you are referring to for the taste….
Instructions say to run water through filters 2-3 times before drinking. I tried drinking a glass before I did so because I didn't read instructions. Now I'm 6 or 7 gallons through and that taste lingers.
@@manoffire786 To be honest. It’s been so long since I got it that I don’t recall have that issue. Think I ran water through it fully a couple times but didn’t have any taste problems.
@@AndrewRockRUclips turns out you got to run filters under cold water while scrubbing with coarse side of included sponge for 2-3 minutes per the instructions I missed. Please don't tell anyone. I'm an idiot

Do you prime the filters
I did not need to the first time. Connected them directly to it. To be honest. I am not sure whether I should have done it a different way but it has worked. We are due for new filters soon so I’ll have to look into it when we plan to replace them. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have additional questions. Sorry I couldn’t be much help. Andrew
Instructions say to clean with rough side of sponge with no soap. Every month.
No need to prime.
No need to prime, but I believe you're supposed to throw out the first two tanks of water, then start drinking it.
I just installed mine. And it has a terrible taste
Do you have 7in filters or 9in filters?
The 7 inch
it is not certified
Pretty sure it is NSF Certified. Here is the link to their website mentioning that: prooneusa.com/product/big-plus/.
Any insight into why you are saying it is not?
@@AndrewRockRUclips "our filters meet NSF/ANSI standards" "Independent lab tested to NSF standards 42, 53, P231" the way they word it is important. they independently test to those standards, they aren't actually certified by NSF.
@@AndrewRockRUclips the wording is done that way for a reason. they don't pay to actually get the certification, they do their own independent tests that show their product meets those specifications.
@@AndyS52 Thats pretty interesting. I’ll have to look into it further to see how their testing compares to the NSF standards and whether it seems consistent vs. potentially biased and unreliable. Definitely could be concerning if that’s the case and I would agree it technically wouldn’t be certified as you suggest. Thanks for pointing this out. Andrew
