- This is the SteelSeries Aerox 9 and it has far too many buttons, but that's not a bad thing if you're into that sort of thing (for MOBAs or MMOs).

Best bits of the Aerox 9:
Comfortable fit in the hand
Fast charging
Insane amounts of buttons
Slick design
Grippy matt ABS finish
Worst bits:
Battery life
Price
My thoughts:
The SteelSeries Aerox 9 is a great option for MMO and MOBA gamers but FPS players may well struggle with the button layout. It's large and comfortable and has some satisfying button action with the benefits of being IP54 rated meaning that it should last and last.
The battery life isn't amazing and I felt like I needed to plug it in more than the other models I've tried, BUT it also has fast charging and you can turn up the battery saving options if you want to. I think it's one of the best MOBA mice I've seen.

I got used to this mouse very quickly and now I'm so in love with it. The shape is PERFECT for my hand. I really really love how I got used to it and now it's like an extension of me. The buttons feel super clicky and the switches feel great. I didn't know there was tilt left and tilt right. Steelseries GG is just okay. I'm still in the process of setting it up slowly for both Windows use and WoW use. The battery is great. I hope they keep making these and keeping the same shape. May have to buy an extra backup somehow with a good price for when this one fails.
I've used the Aerox 9 for about 2 months now for FFXIV and going from the Naga Trinity to this mouse was a bit of a learning curve, I don't think the side button placements are quite right in this mouse, they're way too far forward for me. Also, idk if it's the coating or the holes but this mouse makes my hand sweat really easily, and I don't have that issue with other holey or Steelseries mice. The shape is nice tho and the weight is really good, but I wouldn't recommend this for FPS when the Aerox 5 exists.
I had this mouse as my first mmo for FFXIV as well! The front buttoms felt too out of place as well for the first 3months or so but now I accustomed myself to them and it feels so natural is a bliss now! But I also took it as my first ever mmo mouse so obviously I wont see any cons coming directly from simpler mouses😊
Quality vids. This mouse is great for an mmo mouse. 10/10 recommend if you want something different shape wise in the mmo space.
lmao reporting you to the UK Constabulary for that concealable assault knife! 🤣 It caused me such emotion distress
I can only imagine all the dirt that gets into it
Had it for a year now and no dirt issues. I used the air can i use to clean my PC twice so far. Hope this helps 🤗
Great Review! How is the shape (of the mouse) and scroll wheel in comparison of a Logitech G900/903? And what grip do you use? Palm Grip/Crawl Grip/Fingertip only? You reached all buttons without any issues?
Can you map buttons to play one handed? Incase you want to play and eat a fiajta at the same time?
🤣 probably
I honestly thing the breathing thing is good cause on the razer naga i had a issue with the material and the grip was too light
too many buttons? are you kidding? been waiting for this mouse for decades! it's perfect!
Yes, finally something to replace G600, and handsomely at that. Perfect weight, viable gaming without cable, still MMO friendly (and anything less, sooo...quite everything). For less buttons, people can just get any other mouse (or aerox 5), and leave this one alone ! ^^
this type of mouse is perfect for macro-ing cut copy past close-tab and other boring things that might break keyboard switches
I have had problems with both my Corsair Scimitar and previous Razor Naga MMO mice; both scroll wheel issues. I am quite frustrated. I did own a logitech G600 MMO mouse for years before I replaced it. It was definitely the most reliable mouse I ever owned. I only replaced it because I got bored. I am going to try this mouse and hopefully it will reliable for me. It'll be my third mouse in 3 years. I had my logitech for 4 years.
Are the thumb buttons soft? Mechanical? I find the Naga thumb buttons to be tough pressing without interrupting other aspects of my mouse movements...
Is this mouse truly Mac OSX compatible? I have struggled to find a mouse like this that works with OSX without having to use SteerMouse
cool. how do you assign back and forward to s1 and s3 (the side buttons)
This mouse has notorious problems with the scroll wheel contacts getting dirty and becoming essentially non functional in a short period of time. Just a warning for anyone looking to buy this mouse.
Noo, why is this problem with so many new mice
Compatible with PS5? I play FFXIV on console been interested in MMO mouse and love SteelSeries
Once you configure button remaps and other stuff like rgb, can it all be stored onto the mouse memory and will work without their software in the background?
yes just cant have macros saved but the rest it does
if somebody read this pls help.
i use mmo mouse for design apps like blender/ substance painter/ zbrush and so on.
i switch profiles frequently and i need it fast. razor naga has an issue with this, with 1-3 second profile switch lagging it may cause disasterous effects when i use side buttons.
the same thing happens with LOGITECH G600. so far the best was Corsair scimitar, but the corsair thing always broken.
anyway my question is, is this SteelSeries Aerox 9 have a profile switch lagging issue.
Thanks :)
Best side buttons are on Logitech G602!
Holy Honeycomb Batman! Would look rather too aggressive next to my Mac I suppose.....
Had it for almost a year now. I play FFXIV and made a great difference on my gaming experience for the better! Idk if i would recommend it for other games other than MMO’s 10/10. Dust/ dirt issue was my main concern at purchase but again after almost a year no problems so far.
Thanks for leaving this comment and sharing your experience!
Good to hear from someone Who used it for a while I'm really interested in getting this mouse as my first MMO mouse
May I ask Can it use on glass table or glass mouse pad? Thanks!
A mouse can never have too many buttons. My only complaint is the side buttons, they should have been placed a little further towards the back of the mouse. As they are positioned now it makes reaching the front 3 buttons uncomfortable.
I'm glad I'm not the only who has this issue. I was using a Red Dragon mouse for games like Doom Eternal and other FPS games, and it was seamless, but the position of the buttons is unbearable. It's not a good introduction to MMO mice, and not a good case for their versatility. Not to mention, only one DPI switch is a very bizarre choice.
Does this mouse have different keymaps / pages that you can switch around like the Razer Naga?
Software? If so, then I showed that
Very well, looks amazing,i want to change mouse because what I have is too big for my hand i have corsair dark pro rgb se...and is also heavy 142g lol. this is for me with those keys ,i can use with macro and for cs2,valorant and other..i tried to see other mice like logitech g x superlight or razer.....but spend more than 100€ to have only 5 keys and too minimalist for my taste......it's not worth it
Personally not enough buttons. Would like 3 or 4 on the right side of it and instead of 2 in the middle put them next to the the left click button
This mouse is very complex. That said, the opportunity all these buttons present are invaluable. The only limiting factors when using this mouse are your patience, sanity and determination (oh, and the reach of your thumb to the front buttons). Coming from a g604, I'd say this mouse is far less intuitive, but a very welcome change--especially because the g604 felt like a brick in my hand. Once you retrain your muscle memory (and overcome the PvUI and pepega moments that are sure to occur), it's worth it!
I ended up keeping a rather standard layout: individual/combo attacks on the top row of mouse buttons and shift+top row buttons for AOEs. The second row is generally for proc or instant cast abilities. The 3rd row of mouse buttons are typically reserved for role-specific (Healer/Tank/DPS) abilities and movement abilities. The main game I'm playing is FFXIV. Every dungeon yields more efficiency. I'm glad I purchased a mouse that allows me to bind in a way that works for my brain :P
ahh same i came from a g600 that i used for years but it became heavy so i got a hero g502 just ot browse the internet and game with the g600 so this steelseries came nicely having all the butting im used to and being light
its worth it i have one. had another mmo mouse before it with 12 side buttons but it was like 140gs
Is anyone using this with a mac? It just doesnt work, i cant program anything with it 😢
"The SteelSeries Aerox 9 has too many buttons " derp
really like the MMO mouse but wish they had a Wired version of this exact model, just not a fan at all when it comes to wireless there just to faulty.
High quality video
Thanks! Subscribe for more like it
Not a fan of having holes in the actual clicks themselves.
"too many buttons" it's literally marketed as an mmo mouse, that's the standard amount of buttons
SHRUG
my opinion is not enough button
Thats a keyboard
haha
