@@Mina-vt8vh TMNT '03 is overrated. TMNT '12 literally does everything right for it's franchise, it has personality for the characters(something most of the other adaptations have failed at) and not to mention has the best Shredder. It also has good storylines that both does new things but also stays true to it's own franchise. It's practically objective that TMNT '12 is the best adaptation of the half the shell heroes that isn't a comic.

Not every 2003 fan gives hate to the 2012 series. I’ve actually dealt with a couple 2012 fans who were idiots. For example: I am in the comments stating that 2003 is my favorite. Then a 2012 fan comes and says “no 2012” and then I reply with “you are not me so I still like 2003 the best”. So 2012 fans can be hateful too. Then I dealt with another who wasn’t necessarily hateful but they commented on random 2003 episodes saying that 2012 was better. Heck that person even commented on a 1987 video clip just to say that 2012 splinter was better. So it’s not exactly smart to say all 2003 fans hate on the 2012 series.

2003 was the best series. Peter Laird had TONNES of involvement with the series and that helped it a lot imo. Such a shame it's so hard to get it all on dvd.

Actually Nickelodeon announced that officially on Facebook back in May I think. Unfortunately it's going to be a more lightheart feel "Teen Titans Go!" style. Not to mention 2D. Only upside to this is that A: It's staying on Nickelodeon and B: that the executive producers from the 2012 show and Samurai Jack are working on it so it's in good hands.

What I love about the look of the 2012 series Turtles is that each of them is very different from the other. In the 1987 and 2003 incarnations we basically had four matching turtles who could only be told apart from each other by the color of their bandanas.
The 2012 series gave each of them a different look, in episodes like "Slash and destroy" and "within the woods" we see the guys without their bandanas and you can still see who is who.
Raphael - Has a small, blocky shaped head, a wide neck and cracks in both his upper and lower shell, height-wise he's also the shortest of the four but also the most muscular.
Michelangelo - Slightly taller than Raph, has big a more rounded face on a slimmer neck and big, round eyes which perfectly matches his happy-go-lucky character.
Donatello - Tallest of the four, almost a full head taller than Raph. He's also the slimmest in built, his head is more elongated than the others which gives him that Nerdy look to match his character. And then there's the offset gap in his teeth.
Leonardo - Probably the most neutral looking of all of them, body-wise he's inbetween Raph and Mikey, having the muscles of the former with the more rounded look of the latter.

The 80's/90's version had the longest run. It's by far the best one even with the humour. And plus, the pilot episode is the best of all-time. It started off actually quite serious. The original will always be the most iconic, made the biggest impact and will always be seen as the true turtles because it started it all. Looking at the comments here, I might be the only one here in my 30's which is why there is no support now for the 80's turtles. mark my words though, back in the 80's, it was the highest rated cartoon of all-time!!! Cultural phenomenon.

Okay I see were this comment section is going, so I'm just going to throw my hat into the ring. The 2012 version is the best in opinion. It has a good balance of humor and seriousness that doesn't not feel as jarring when they switch from one another. I was at first skeptical on the art style and the animation but after a few episodes you get use t the look and it isn't that bad. The fight scene a gorgeous and super slick with it's animation. REALLY THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL. I grew up with the 2003 version and I still like it and without it and the 1989 version we would still have turtles, but this is a good blend of both.

We people in the fandom didn't fall in love with 1987, 2003 or 2012 in specifically. We fell in love with TMNT like the whole basic of it. Turtles: family, action, humor that was what we fell in love with.
I love the whole TMNT fandom no matter which year they are from.....But I can't deny I favorise the 2003 though xD It's too amazing, I still scream every once in awhile at the most epic scenes (All the scenes are epic, but ya know what I mean)💞💞💞

Imo 2003 had the best shredder. yes Uncle phill, and the latest shredder are good but without nostalgia for the late Uncle phill the 2003 Shredder was threatening. We saw him get stabbed (lived) his head cut off (lived), find out he is a alien yet still without his exo suit kicks butt and is menacing (lived) banished in a exile icey world (lived) comes back in Turtles Forever and nearly takes out every known TMNT timeline/other-world to which took 87's comic turtles, and 2003 turtles along with the 87's villains to stop him.
Not to mentioned he killed many people on and off screen, this shredder took apart minions (mainly stockman that is reduced to a BRAIN), and felt like a true threat to the Turtles. (this is also not counting the Tain Qul Shredder who is a demon!!!!)
Plus I say while yes the 2003 was action heavy it had a lot of humor, sad moments, showing each character in their own environment, and this Splinter was a mix of wise yet using his teachings for modern times for the turtles to understand. Plus battle nexus we find out Splinter was fighting aliens LONG before we ever saw Aliens hahahahahaha.

2012 turtles are decent but my problem with them is while it is very 87's feel mix with their own thing. Taking Casey and April to be teens, mix with Don falling for April was a bit much. That was not very needed at all. Not to mention the whole a major let down is the Mutiongin bomb not having enough background other than what is given. those Still image shots of Leo pushing the others off is what really got to me. However not much else is shown in that Art style. Nor do we see the characters talk or feel pain/loss in the future end of the world episode.
However the 2003 turtles while they don't show the past battles that lead to two characters demise before hand, you can feel the loss, you then see what the cost was when you see the other turtles all beat up for over 30 years.

The 2012 version is way better, imo. The 2003 version is really good too, but the intro is just ok. The first one is just... I don't want to trigger people, but atleast I'll say that the intro is nice. While 2012 has one of the best cartoon intros in my opinion and actually good CGI. The plot may be a bit over the place when they're in space, but it's still good.

    • @Jesterclown17
      @Jesterclown17 7 лет назад

Hell Nah I couldn't stand the 03 intro. The tune was alright, but the lyics are... Um...
"Mutant chain reaction - turtles- living underground! With ninjitsu action - turtles - IT'S A SHELL OF A TOOOOWN!" sounds like its advertising a kids meal with a toy or something.
The ONE thing I'll give it, the role call was clever. It was a cool way to tell us about the turtles without having to name drop them
      - Live by code of martial arts(honer, leo) Never fight unless someone else starts (strategy, donny) always stick together no matter what (heart, mikey) and if all else fails it's time to kick butt!(attitude, raph)
... Then they completely ruined it with some half assed lyrics just to give a more genaric role call
      - Leonardo is always in control... The wise guy is... Michaelangelo... Donatello is the brains of the bunch... And you can expect Raphael to THROW THE FIRST PUNCH!
      It's just... Forced.

The 2003 TMNT is truly the best one because it mainly brought every aspect of the comic to life. And that's why the show is known as Mirage TMNT and the creators of the comics had their hands in everything to make this animated series amazing. If you a big fan of the 2003 show please if you have time make sure you read the Mirage comic books. You would be totally amazed on how they got everything right and the dialogue that was in the books was in the show on certain episodes word for word.

say what you will about the 2012 tmnt but i love it mainly because the show seems to take aspects from almost every tmnt continuity and places them all together
eg. some design aspects of the turtles ie the belt designs were taken from the 1990's movie
the back story and aspects of the comedy was influenced by the 1987 cartoon ie splinter being hamato yoshi and having a long rivalry with the shredder (which is done way better in this show than the 87 series fight me)
some stories such as the first fight with shredder or return to new York are taken from the comics and the fact that they use there weapons unlike the 87 cartoon (they even made fun of that in this show)

I was exposed to TMNT by the 2012 cartoon and I fell in love with it from the first two episodes. It honestly motivated me into creating my own characters that soon developed into creating a whole new fantasy world. It fueled my creative mind and led me to where I am today. I give it so many thanks.
I know the Nick cartoon has its faults; I felt the romance was too forced at times, certain plots had multiple holes (Timothy/Pulverizer), certain characters were barely tolerable and much more. But that doesn't make me love it any less. It holds a special place in my heart and I'm more than willing to watch through the 2003 series if I ever get the time.
It kinda upsets me seeing the division in fans over which series is superior. I believe every incarnation has its strengths and weaknesses, but the Turtles themselves are what brought fans together, whether it be for the humor, the cheekiness, the action, and/or the passion. We're all bonded by our love for these four turtle brothers and I hope that bond continues strong with the 2018 reboot (or we can band together to hate it if it fails).

I wish everyone would stop hating on the Michael Bay movies, if people would stop moaning about the designs of the show and give them a chance they might be surprised at how good they are. It seems like every time a new series or movie comes out in this franchise people complain about how different it looks or how it just isn't the same. But the fun thing about the turtles franchise is that it doesn't have to be the same, it was confirmed that all of the turtles exist in a giant turtleverse as such meaning that they still exist within every continuity but in different realities. I think 2k3 Raphael said it best, 'The more things change, the more things stay the same'.( I think that was the episode Touch and Go in season 3). Anyway, my point is, the turtles change with the times they're teenagers that have been 15 for the last 35 years and their ever changing story is rooted within the same formula so give the new material a chance and stop hating on it for no particularly good reason. Unless you have a good reason.

Everyone here seems has no idea what is a children's TV show in the 80's, a big poster on the wall of the kids room, and a Nintendo cartridge with TMNT. The 1987 series made the Turtles a world class franchise without internet or global TV channel. Everything after (even closer to the original comic) is just the echo of the real BANG that was created in the late 80's!

Not to mention the '00's TMNT show runners seemed to embarrassed by the original 80's TMNT so much that they decided to patronize them and the fans by making them look meek and cry babies. The TMNT of the 2012 series on the other hand did not feel that way, instead, they paid proper respects by making old TMNT characters seem vicious like Rocksteady and the "original" TMNT look competent and not cry babies and even had a bit of fun with noticing that modern day Donatello is voiced by the same guy that voice Raphael in the original series! Yes I love the Nickelodeon and do not much like the 00's show because of their patronizing us like they did.

The guy who created the TMNT in the first place made the '00's. Have you read the original comics? The '00's series is the closest to that while still being original.

You know I only ever saw the original TMNT movies and the 2003 version but after this I think I'll try out the 2012 version.
