- i was hangin out at my house watchin tv and stuff, and i see a huge hovercraft beach onto the Alamitos Beach in Long Beach, California. I don't know why it was there and why it came there, i just filmed it and wanted to show you all. It was funny, cause they started to do dough-nuts in the harbor when it left.
@stikinick1
Not much for stealth, though, hovercrafts. Doesn't look very safe for the occupants either when under fire. =\
But still, very bad ass ride, I'm sure!
Many thanks and a blessing to you for serving our country!
i forget what what the name of the vehicle is and its bothering me, i think its somthing like L-CAC but i don't remember. also if anyone is wondering what it is its a transport vehicle that can hold a few tanks, or like 4 jeeps, or a whole lot of soldiers. if you think this is a waste of money its not because unlike other landing boats this one is able to land almost everywhere like swamps, soft sand, and rocks. this would have made a HUGE difference at Dieppe if it was invented in WW2
Type in "Alamitos Beach" in yahoo maps and it will point the pin right on my apartment on the sand and the beach is called "Alamitos Beach"....I was just going off of my parking pass for the "Alamitos Beach parking lot"...and for the record, it should be called L.A. River Runoff Beach, cause that water is nasty
It's on the ocean side. You can see White Island in the background. That makes it Long Beach harbor. The other side is Alamitos Bay. I've lived in the shore for almost 50 years. I think I know the difference between the harbor and the bay.
We had the boat in Long Beach promoting the US NAVY for a presentation for a Women in Engineering Convention, for womens history month. And yes it was a huge open beach, but we still use Beachmasters to control all movment on land.
I don't know what you were smoking dude, but that is Long Beach Harbor. NOT Alamitos Bay. As for the guy who didn't know they were on the West coast, there are a bunch at Camp Pendelton.
It's scary to watch videos like this of US amphib. forces and then watch most advanced countries amphib. forces. It does not take many to realize the sad truth.
@hbpirate That is not the Harbor. This is the beach at down town Long Beach. The oil island in the back isn't next to the Harbor, that is farther away.
Does he really need the flagman waving him in? it's a huge open beach....
While I normally object to this sort of thing, i have a thing for hovercrafts so if i was there i wouldnt complain.
i lived there bud, and the beach was called Alamitos Beach...i had to buy the specific parking pass for it...
THE SIDES OF THE DECK HAVE SAFE RIDING AREAS- THAT CAN HOLD QUIT A FEW SOLDIERS, I SPENT MANY HOURS IN THEM!!
@LeroyJenkins671 They say if you get run over by it, you cannot die
I like how when they hit land the just keep coming up the beach.
WOW!! Great idea, "until one of the 'tires', are shot out".....
The "donuts" are called doing a "rain dance" it removes a lot of the sand/debris from beach crossings.
captain of the ship want to take a walk on the beach?
more to come...just keeeep voting for the usurper!
awesome dude...you guys handled that top notch
big breath in ......aaaand ... deflate *LOL*
And yet another great British invention.
The donuts are for washing off the sand.
the dude filming this has lived life
Full crew with a payload of one man.
This is like my fucking backyard! :D
Looks like landing practice
donuts = tactical maneuver.
