I have seen Dr. Jeff doing this for many years but the progressing very slow. This issue is a global concern it should be the government responsible their politician lives like the king. You know what causes poverty, not nature but CORRUPTION.
i do know that there are many places in the world that could be so horrific, so poverty stricken, so forgotten than africa...but africa i think is more in the limelight because africa has been in poverty for the longest time, and africa to me is the cradle of civilization.

The Green Revolution began to fall apart as the chemical fertilisers rendered soil INFERTILE and serious health problems like CANCER. As the quality of the soil deteriorated, they faced ZERO YIELDS and an inability to pay their debts. Twenty-five thousand farmers have committed suicide under these circumstances since 1997. In the state of Andhra Pradesh alone, 4,500 farmers have committed suicide in the past seven years.
@kaikaz ok. I agree with you on all of that. I actually am going to donate a LOT of my money to children in need, imparticular.. I am becoming a stock trader/investor and I expect to make more money than I need. I often tell my girlfriend how much money I am going to give to children,.. in the form of parks, education, arts and crafts, enrichment programs, etc. I naturally focus more on children than adults just because that is instinctually more important to me.
and that harvest will be sent to the global market and wil NOT be used to feed the community. Also see the comment from charbonelle about the "Green Revolution". The solution of fertilizers (and probably seeds that have been genetically modified to accept herbicides) has led to many suicides in india. I would recommend the movie "we feed the world" which is available on youtube to find out how people in "productive" regions end up starving. It's kind of a slow movie, but worth the watch.

And how much money have you given? The rich may have money, but if we common people each dug out 100 dollars a year to help out with poverty...say 1 billion people each dug up 100 dollars...
