In this episode, Did You Know Gaming takes a look at the inner workings and facts surrounding Sega's Sonic Glitches! In this video we cover glitches in Sonic games all the way from the original Sonic The Hedgehog up to the infamous Sonic 06 and Sonic Boom games. Through our analysis of Sonic glitches, the gameplay and beta builds attached to them, we hope to show some of the more interesting facts from Sonic glitches and have their history explained.

the level select glitch in Sonic 3D Blast is one of the most amazing things Ive seen in a videogame

The developer have a youtube channel called "Game Hut" and he is talking about many development tricks he used back in the day, and yea he made s video about the 3D Blast level select glitch

My first Sonic game was Sonic '06. I liked it even though it was super frustrating. It took me a long time afterwords to understand why people liked Sonic so much.

You guys should follow Jon Burton on RUclips, his channel's name is GameHut.
He has a video where he talked about the cartridge thingy and also a bunch of other tidbits, if you're interested. Most of the time it's coding related, which I like.
I appreciate the photo-sensitivity warning to skip to 8:25, but there's another strobe effect immediately after at 8:46.
Admittedly, it's slowed down there, so that is helpful.

Something similar to the Level Select glitch in Sonic 3D Blast exists in Mickey Mania, where if the game crashes, you immediately get warped to another level.

How accurate.
The chao animal glitch at 5:50 is by far the most useful and amazing glitch no matter how you look at it. So much of my time was spent raising the chao in Adventure 1 & 2. Thank god patches weren't a thing back then. Otherwise, they might have taken this out.

8:17 oh my god I remember this! I did this on accident at Sega’s booth at New York Comic con. I wound up just having to leave the booth because the rep had no idea what in the world I did. I guess the game was too far along to patch it out pre launch.
There is a warning for a seizure 8:18, for 8:25, that is a very short notice and I could not read it in time,: I suffer from an eye condition that forces me to read slower), so I thought I would warn anyone in the comments who might not notice this or finish reading it in time. Anyway, no worries, no seizure on my end.

First of all do you know real difference between LCD and CRT? In LCD lamp work constantly and only matrix obscure or not light from it. It do mean that flickering is way less obtrusive if happen at all (only during color change). CRT use neutron lamp what scan screen constantly shining or not photosensitive cells what shine for a moment when hit. As result flickering is horribile and become quite visible if you do recording of the monitor. Plus most LCD monitors were designed to be look from short distance (anti-glare screens were meant for old CRT's), when most CRT TV have way stronger light.
No one say that LCD can't cause epilepsy, but there is enough data to prove that LCD's are way more safe to use then CRT. So do you research instead pretending.

It was a bad idea to actually show the strobe effect...
But they warned you? If someone has epilepsy at that point, it's their fault for watchin' it.
I actually missed the warning, but also it just not a good idea imo. I don't have epilepsy but that kind of thing still really messes my eyes up, and since I was caught by surprise it was... not great for me.
I'm with you on this, nupinoop. A text only warning shouldn't really be used to put that crap in a video. If someone looks away at the wrong time, and then looks back, surprise seizure trigger. Simply don't put that into the video, or edit it so it no longer can cause a seizure.
And speaking of completely unnecessary seizure triggers, I still don't understand how anyone at BioWare thought their travel animation in Mass Effect Andromeda was a good idea. I don't have epilepsy and I've never had a seizure, but seeing those screens in Andromeda gave me a headache within seconds and I had to look away because I was afraid of what might happen to me if I kept looking..

No, it was a couple seconds before.
Sonic Advance 1 also had the zipping glitch in Neo Green Hill Zone Act 1. It was during the downhill section after the two loops. After Sonic leaves the camera completely, the player would quickly turn the opposite direction and tap the jump button out of the wall to zip.

Toast with Jam No it wasn't. The caption was big enough for anyone to see and the font didn't match the actual game font. Everyone who complain either didn't pay attention, heed the warning or are just joking.
Only Arin Hanson from Game Grumps wouldn't notice that warning.
One key thing about the 06 ramp glitch is wrong here.
It's not about going off the ramp early, it's about not holding forward after you go off the ramp. The initial arc of the jump is handled by the jump ramp. It locks your controls and sends you in a set path (as all 06 jump ramps do), then when you reach the end of that predetermined arc, the game hands control back to you. If you don't hold forward, Sonic does not continue at top speed, and will instead fall down much faster, which just happens to land you on that bridge every time, resulting in the death.

About 06, few people mention that after beating Sonic's campaign you unlock a powerup that shrinks Sonic and gives him infinite jumps when you hold down the shoe gem power button. The game literally hands you a free pass to break the game and go out of bounds, you don't even need to glitch to do that.
you know every time I see them do a sonic glitch video my mind immediately goes "So this is a sonic '06 video, Neat!" and then am pleasantly surprised to see it isn't.

Jokes aside, Sonic games by far have some of the most entertaining glitches out there. Which’s understandable for a series that has you go at octane speeds most of the time, and at other times...doesn’t know the first thing about programming.
