This beautiful Live Music Vid is Brilliant & "Something Else" !! - Amazing !! - Thank u Gordi / Sophie, NPR, & musicians Alex, Ben & Zach - !!! - Don "Wingco" Paterson Sunshine Coast, Qld Australia 🇦🇺
whenever I listen to Gordi sing, I am transported into a more magical and beautiful place and I have never found another artist that comes close to this experience for me. You're on of the most beautiful musician I have ever heard in my entire life.
I tried hard to keep from crying. It's one of those songs of the century that you hear making you pull off to the side of the freeway; and stare for 40,000 yards for an hour.
Just wanna add: this is a different style of set from her usual live shows and other acoustic sessions, but still as amazing! Basically, if you enjoyed this or even if you weren't *too* keen on it, definitely check out her album and other sessions!
Thank you so much! I have always loved listening to Sophie. Maybe because of her very expressive eyebrows, I am constantly reminded that her eyes are closed haha.
Ben Lester is great. He's also been a part of S. Carey, Field Report, Bon Iver, and other bands. www.allmusic.com/artist/ben-lester-mn0000867678/credits
I always read the description of tiny desk concerts. This one connected her voice with Imogen Heap and all i have the energy to comment is..Imogen Heap behind the Tiny Desk, please! Loved her dearly for so long as Frou Frou, and with her newest concert gadget that she's been working on, the mi.mu gloves, it would be impossible not to feel so small in that room with her performing. Sorry to take away from the artist playing, so lovely and rich her voice.
Steven Mcilwain bro I litteralg just gave my week notice that I'm quitting. Like 5 minutes ago. I ai t going to work today either. We taking control of our reality brother. Woop woop.
The looping on the fist song is a little annoying. Like hiccups through the whole thing, but I still like it / see the talent in the rest of it. Sounds a lot like Centro-Matic
This was a mixed bag for me, with each song starting rough to me, but winning me over as each moved along. Her voice was at times difficult to listen to, yet still managed to pull me in at times. The band and instruments were wonderful throughout. I did enjoy this, mostly, but I definitely need to add this video to my 'revisit' playlist. I need to re-watch this at a different time / mindset in order to determine how my opinion does or doesn't change.
Give the album a listen. It's pretty good. The live versions don't do it justice. This is kind of like listening to Imogen Heap without the harmonizer.
The first four mins were about as annoying as a pea-sized stone in both shoes (inside the sock). But, about the 4 min mark, there was a "release" of sorts, that made the song really bloom. I kinda dug that. The other two songs will need a few more listens for the love to set in, but I'm sure it will be there. Her voice is deep and interesting.
I'd highly recommend watching/listening to other performances of 'Can We Work It Out'. This session's version was a version I've never seen or heard her play before; it's usually played on guitar and couple of times just on regular piano
Her voice is so strange yet beautiful. She is something truly special, and I'm not just talking about Barbara XD.
She is amazing !

A pleasure to meet you Gordi and the amazing band, you guys sound soo beautiful with love from Africa and special thanks to NPR.
Her voice is like a thousand instruments strung together, its unimaginably wonderful.

Damn what a unique tone in her voice!
Tyler Shay She's a Contralto! lower version of Sara Bareilles and Alanis Morissette, all Mezzo-sopranos
This is my favorite Tiny Desk Concert.
Even more powerful without the voice changer. Deeply emotional.
This just works. Beautiful.
I saw Gordi play with S. Carey in Vancouver and it was incredible!
Beautiful voice, very volcano choir, I like a lot!
I saw her live playing before Julien Baker in Madrid and man, was she great. Thanks NPR
I was going to say that she reminds me of Julien Baker, the way they sing is somewhat similar.
Juan Pellejero I was there too! Amazing concert, and St. Woods was great too
Hawuii St woods could be one of my greatest finds from last year
Bet that was awesome. I went on a Julien Baker binge one day and RUclips recommended Gordi to me, both fantastic musicians
That sounds like a tissue box in concert form. It's near impossible to not get teary eyed listening to Baker
i saw her live with S Carey recently, incredible talent
so unique and just beautiful
i love her voice
So happy to see Gordi on here!
Gordi is golden.
Love! From South Africa

Hearttouched.
Her voice just draws you in, and you're not sure why. Very nice. And as I listened, I spotted the Tree of Forgiveness on the desk, cool!
So perfect
Well this is amazing... 🙌❤
Thank you so much! I have always loved listening to Sophie.
Maybe because of her very expressive eyebrows, I am constantly reminded that her eyes are closed haha.

Ah well that makes alot of sense, yeah that's a great song!
Jaw, meet floor. 😵 Sooo good!!!
A little brutal on the dislike rating. When music is a bit uncomfortable outside safety zones, people won't give it a chance. I think she's brillinat
muy bueno, me encanta su voz
I love her, she's a gymnast.
Pianist looks like the Mitch kid from Dazed and Confused.
Good music though. Another video from NPR Music, another album I'll be purchasing..
Hey man, are you _cool?_
CrumCake Jake cannot unsee
oh, that is hilarious!!!
Ben Lester is great. He's also been a part of S. Carey, Field Report, Bon Iver, and other bands.

Jordan Marshal wow yes!! Immi with her mimu gloves would be incredible in this space. We want this!!!!
Her voice is lower than my gcse results
it would be so cool to have Moon Hooch back on tiny desk! It would be pretty different I would think!
Canowindra?! I’m about an hour from there. What a surprise Tiny Desk Concert.
She’s great live! Also really enjoyed her cover of Linkin Park’s In The End, was very powerful!
This was ace!!
Pretty nice voice.
Mmmm, this make sense. Thank you.
Reminds me of Samantha Crane. So good!
Gordi's voice is tired. Love getting more material from her regardless. Thanks Bob and crew.
Lovely stuff. Vocal melodies remind me of the killers somehow.
Oh my god now that you say it I can totally hear Brandon! Very Sam's Town-esque.
God pedal steel is the most beautiful sounding instrument in existence
Yes finally!!
Can i just stop here to mention how fucking beautiful she is.
bout time!
There’s something here that reminds me of Joan Armatrading ❤
Genial

Steven Mcilwain bro I litteralg just gave my week notice that I'm quitting. Like 5 minutes ago. I ai t going to work today either. We taking control of our reality brother. Woop woop.

Who is Stephen Thompson?
Like a Bon Iver
Off topic but I'm really hoping to see Colter Wall playing at the Tiny Desk
Annie Lennox!
Is she a contralto?
1-2-3 1-2-3 1-2-3 1-2-3 1-2
She's like a female Bon Iver. I kinda like it, but inspiration is strong.
K. Cielica they're both under the same label (Jagjaguwar)! She has a cover of 00000 million on spotify

Her singing reminds me of Regina Spektor for some reason...
Luke Sinclair bare loves Gordi
The second song is Rosanne singing to a chocolate bar -__-
HOW IS THIS JUST NOW BEING RECOMMENDED to me?! 😭 Highly OFFENDED, RUclips.

That was not her best version of Heaven I Know, oh well.
That is awesome to hear b/c it killed me how good it was.
