Inspiring Millions to paint outdoors This video is about Touch Move and Inspire. Get a free Book at his website www.StefanBaumann.com. The paintings of Stefan Baumann reveal the true spirit of nature by transporting the viewer to distant lands that have gone unseen and undisturbed. With the huge success of Baumann’s weekly PBS television series “The Grand View: America’s National Parks through the Eyes of an Artist,” millions of people witness for themselves the magic Stefan portrays on canvas, his passion for nature and the American landscape. By distilling his love of nature into a luminous painting of brilliant, saturated color that transcends conventional landscape and wildlife art, Baumann has captured the hearts and imaginations of a generation. Each painting becomes an experience rather than merely a picture - a vivid manifestation of his special and personal union with nature and the outdoor world. Through his mastery of light, color and artful composition, Baumann invites you to experience nature in its purity. It is no wonder that for many years distinguished American collectors, including former presidents and financial icons, have sought out his work.

That's one of the problems I've had with. It's been smaller canvases when I first started with 10x8's & 11x14's canvas board until ur mdf board trick but didn't know what sizes but that got answered in this video..

I LOVE Liquin!!!! I first discovered it from Andrew Tischler, it's great stuff!!!! Rosemary brush? Hmmm... "This isn't a bathroom where we paint back and forth like this" I was dying, you crack me up! "What you do now is the end product." Truer words were never said! This bit of learning has caused a bit of growing pains! Looking forward to seeing your painting completed, coming along nicely so far...

But if you use a monitor with led lights i see alot of artists use photography to get composition and models where they want them. But most of them do demos and big projects with live models.. i guess its all preference..

I've been enjoying your videos. I am a watercolor instructor, and I work in a variety of mediums including acrylic, gouache, graphite, pen and ink, and charcoal - but I'm so intrigued by the buttery vibrancy I see in oil paintings. One of the things that appeals to me with oils, is that when I want an aperture/blurred background with acrylic, I generally have to use an airbrush to lay it in. Airbrushes are rather clunky, and while I do have some good airbrush techniques - i'd prefer to get smooth blends with a regular brush. I'd like to dive into oils in 2023 and see what wildlife art I can create. I do a lot of illustrations for magazines/outdoor publications, and I was the winner of the 2021 Pennsylvania Duck Stamp Contest. Looking to expand my horizons with oils.

I have watched you for a month now. I’ve learned so much about oils. I started in watercolors. Now you see oils is where I want to move. I love in our home on wheels an rv. What are your thoughts on water based oils?
I’m new to Plein Air. I hike to my locations. I really want to explore water based oils. Insights please.

I haven’t used them but I know people who like them. It’s a personal preference. But one thing to consider is that it can be limiting because you can’t explore other brands and pigments. As you use oils more you may find you like premium paints like m Graham or Michael Harding. These paints have more pigments and less fillers so they are softer to work with. So soft you don’t need mediums. This how I paint. If you want water based oils to avoid solvents, know that you can paint without solvents. I use safflower oil to clean my brushes and I don’t use mediums. If I need a medium, a touch of walnut oil works. This is how Rembrandt painted. I’ll be happy to answer any questions you have. My goal is to help people enjoy oils without harmful solvents. Here is a video that might interest you. Hope it helps. :) cheers.

Adding a touch of galkyd or liquin fast drying medium makes ordinary oils dry very quickly as does solvent, almost as fast as water based oils, I’ve not noticed a big difference between the two

@Chris Griffith I don't know anything about the recipe for liquin. What I do know is that it is a medium that speeds drying and has a semi-gloss finish. My bottle doesn't have a list of ingredients. You are probably correct. I was thinking that walnut oil wouldn't speed the drying time.

It’s 2023, people know why and when to subscribe and what the bell icon does. You don’t have to explain it, at least not as the first thing in the video. I’ll not subscribe just cos you ask me to, I’ll if the content is helpful. So let me be the judge of whether this is helpful to me or not. It’s so off putting when you tell people to subscribe even before you start the content.
