  • In this video, Plein Air Artist of the National Parks talks about Mixing colors the EZ way and how light effects value. He also discusses focal points ina painting and painting fabrics. Inspiring Millions to paint outdoors This video is about Touch Move and Inspire. Get a free Book at his website www.StefanBaumann.com. The paintings of Stefan Baumann reveal the true spirit of nature by transporting the viewer to distant lands that have gone unseen and undisturbed. With the huge success of Baumann’s weekly PBS television series “The Grand View: America’s National Parks through the Eyes of an Artist,” millions of people witness for themselves the magic Stefan portrays on canvas, his passion for nature and the American landscape. By distilling his love of nature into a luminous painting of brilliant, saturated color that transcends conventional landscape and wildlife art, Baumann has captured the hearts and imaginations of a generation. Each painting becomes an experience rather than merely a picture - a vivid manifestation of his special and personal union with nature and the outdoor world. Through his mastery of light, color and artful composition, Baumann invites you to experience nature in its purity. It is no wonder that for many years distinguished American collectors, including former presidents and financial icons, have sought out his work.

It's been four years since I learned to not use white all the time to get a "lighter shade" for highlights. That means it took me 35 years to figure that out on my own. The difference in my paintings is nothing short of dramatic. All of your lessons teach me something new. I see this making a lot of difference in my progress! I'm already one of your students... at some point we must make this formal!

Thanks! Whenever you have a new video, it is the highlight of my week. I just can't get enough wisdom, and keep trying to incorporate it into my work. I'm getting better, but have a long way to go. The great thing about it though is that it's fun. Every new piece of information that I incorporate successfully is a great step forward. . . well, and sometimes old info that you keep driving in that I finally get.

I KNOW I need to take lessons of colour mixing, but one colour mixing frustration I've always had is HOW do you lighten up red WITHOUT turning it into a shade of pink? If you add yellow, it makes orange......Ugh... Frustration! I'm great with black and white and shades (Pencil charcoal etc) but I SUCK with colour!

Stefan, I love your instruction but I wish we could see your student's work better. Your lighting destroys the painting. We can't see them most of the time. If your removed or changed the lighting it would make the session so much more enjoyable. Please take this under consideration.
