@AnArchaicArtist Not really a fifth phase, he just is guaranteed to come back from any weapon or armor you make from him. There are in game descriptions where hunters have died from fatalis regenerating from their armor.
Ooooh no my friend, it's far worse than merely a fifth phase, it's an oroboros. You've bested the fourth phase, layed low the black dragon of Schrade, earned your reward with gear unrivaled... Some years later nobody hears from you, like the legend who brought down the unassailable dragon king suddenly fell off the face of the earth. After a long Trek you look up and find yourself home at last, weary from ceaseless marching, collapsing from exhaustion within those familiar walls and drifting to a deep slumber. When next you wake, guests are heard traipsing about in your domicile, and you meet them with all the hatred your heart can roar forth from the depths of your soul. Phase One begins...
So basically, if you mix the dragons from DND like I'm not talking about the normal ones. You find time although ones that can reign kingdoms and whole continents to themselves because they are that fucking broken like astral dragons kind of bullshit level powerful
You'd like DFO's Spirazzi then, the Death Dragon has extreme regenerative abilities that basically turns him into an immortal, he isn't immune to damage tho so the people who "killed" him ("neutered" is a better word) did so by building a gigantic machine that constantly released insane amounts of heat and kept his regeneration at bay, basically eternally burning him, "we sentence you to eternal death" they said, but should the machine ever stop producing heat he'd come right back like nothing ever happened.
In the Iron Kingdoms lore, dragons are straight up eldritch abominations that only another dragon can truly kill. They look like traditional dragons, but the fire they breathe is radioactive hellfire from the guts of Chernobyl, and they passively blight the world around them, poisoning the land and causing organisms to mutate into dragon-y freaks that serve it's will. All of them are fragments of a dragon god, and all of them feel a draw to kill and consume other dragons to become stronger
… the most unsettling thing is how gentle the movements are, especially for fatalis. It’s such a tonal whiplash from the violent fury you normally see him in the the idea of him slowly and cautiously doing anything is unheard of. There’s no roars, no attacking, just grotesque and methodical movements…
There’s something deeply unsettling about seeing fatalis taking his time to do something, plus that head regenerating reminded me of ghidorah regrowing his head
Yeah, it's kinda terrifying. Pokke village in Mh:gu has a sword in a cave that has grown to as to the size of a bus and needs to be regularly mined with a pickaxe to keep it from getting bigger. You get fatalis parts from mining the giant sword.
@@Shin.ToumaFR did you read what i said even? Ever heard of His Immenseness, who is in fact smaller than pokke chief ancestor? Also the sword was lost for ages and didn't grew a single new scale out of order, it remained a sword. And you don't mine scles from it, you mine stones. There's in fact zero evidence the sword matter is fatalis.
it really is. And both the pukei pukei ending of the MHW leshen hunt and the ending of the primordial malzeno quest show that monsters in MH are capable of both feeling and understanding human emotions. I have no doubt that when Fatalis attacked Schrade, it was completely unprovoked and was doing it for both the sport and sick pleasure of it
I first thought that this would’ve started with someone in the Fatalis set, slowly warping and twisting into the beast itself, but this is somehow even cooler. The gentle yet haunting music of the Nowhere King really stresses the complete and utter _wrongness_ that is this… _thing_ that defies all conventions of biology slowly regenerating from previously dead, completely inert flesh into a monstrosity unmatched, crystal eyes of purest malice ablaze as it begins it’s wretched life anew.
Honestly, I kinda had the opposite reaction. There's almost a beauty to the whole thing - and with that beauty comes the dawning realization of what you've just done. You didn't kill a monster. *You just pissed off a god.*
This reminds me of the fact that according to a Monster Hunter art book, a baby Fatalis has only ever been observed hatching once. After which, it grew into a full adult Fatalis within the hour.
Everyone is talking about how smooth and eerie the Fatalis transformation is (and rightfully so. It's beautiful and disturbing at the same time), but you did an excellent job conveying how the hunters help. Even if the one without a helmet had her face covered, you would still be able to capture how they felt. At first, they were confident, focused, ready to pounce at whatever they thought was happening with the sword, but as soon as it started growing, you knew that is one of the things they didn't expect and they, for lack of a better term, dropped their guard in surprise. As it kept growing, the fear in one's expression and movements while the others were frozen, either out of fear or awe, but none could tear their eyes away. It was evidently dangerous, unnatural, and wrong, but they couldn't stop watching it and couldn't bring themselves to move against it, even in it's vulnerable stages of growth. At the very final frame we see them, even after the threat has fully revealed itself, they're still staring at it, unmoving. You did a fantastic job with all of this. I've always admired your use of body movements in these animations.
i read this all and this prob is also something thats relatable to the emotions we feel in this video, ppl r lazy to even read some of this but thats alright
Which seems silly of them in retrospect - shoving a big chunk of metal somewhere it doesn't belong in the middle of the regeneration process seems like one of the better ways of ensuring it will regenerate... poorly.
Could you even imagine how ungodly terrifying and badass this would be if this was how we got Fatalis introduced to us in Icebourne? No Fatalis crashing through the ruins. Just everything starts to shake and everyone runs but you and the ace and you see the sword start to shake and begins this regeneration sequence. I would have ended the hunt right then and there seeing that!
Honestly, I wouldnt just make it a weapon. I would make it an old hunter. Someone in the Fatalis set, with the weapon having long since gone mad. Only to now fight us in a blind rage. Eventually transforming into the beast itself for a second fase of sort.
Fatalis' lore makes it seem like an outright eldritch monstrosity from beyond space and time and this animation does a good job conveying that same sense of disgust, confusion, awe and dreadful, blood-freezing terror that comes from the realisation that it is exactly as the legends say. Great job.
You know how there are legends saying a fatalis regenerated from armor that a hunter was wearing? What if that happened to a hunter but instead of being absorbed by the regenerating fatalis, the hunter ended up keeping their consciousness and memories! They just ARE a fatalis now.
I think someone made a comic about a hunter becoming a white Fatalis and one of her friends fight it to get her out. I haven’t seen an update on it in a long time so I don’t know how it ends but I think an AU where a Hunter becomes a Monster (other than just Fatalis) would be pretty cool to see
As the huge, grotesque Dragon waves its immense wings before you, you hear a voice penetrating your very mind. A voice, deep and cold yet so menacing. You feel the burning hatred in that horrible, grating voice and you know that this is *Fatalis* “Oh poor, poor Hunter.. You hunt me, you slay me and carve into my flesh but you fail to realise that my defeat does not spell your victory, my death is not my end. *I will never end"*
Instead of the hunter turning into Fatalis ala werewolf, instead the hunter's armor grows around the hunter into a new Fatalis resulting in the fate of the hunter being that of Kaori in Akira.
Fun Fact: In one of the older monster hunter games, they had these quests where you snatch monster eggs to study… …But the very last egg of said quest chain is a Crimson Fatalis egg, even though it’s presumed there are only one of each kind of Fatalis on the planet at any given moment… _Meaning that, in the rare event that any given instance of Fatalis CAN’T regenerate from whatever last killed it (Like the Hunters resisting the urge to loot the corpse and thus proceeding to incinerate it), a new Fatalis of the same kind, _*_If not the exact same individual, memories and all,_*_ WILL eventually revive into any random monster egg on the planet, and will proceed to grow to adulthood within hours of first hatching._
@omnii5818 that pretty much did happen in 4U with the totally not mafia getting you to move eggs for them for some reason and the npc that gives you the quests mention while going by the volcano that last egg you brought hatched and now you have to deal with it. And that ended up being the Crimson fatalis the original commenter mentioned
I can also confirm I too worked for the Egg Syndicate delivering eggs from an assortment of places like Tigrexes chasing me down- Crimson Fatalis was one heck of a surprise since it was my first run and I was doing that line of side quests for shiz and giggles at that time
Holy shit. The disturbing unfolding of his limbs like socks of gristle. The jaw forming bent-backward and breaking into place. The unnerving asymmetry of his generation. The choice of song. And in the end Fatalis poses like Grigori? This is my favorite work of yours, Shark. You're a damn legend.
@@Erkille7 The only thing that kept it from regenerating was being trapped in ice for gods know how long. All biological functions cease when subjected to a low enough temperature. Even ice monsters had to adapt their bodies to not fucking die from the cold. And yet this eldritch monstrosity persists. We broke out the only thing keeping it sealed away.
Never has un-zeroing scaled bone been so HAUNTING. But joking aside this made me remember something. Back in Mon Hunt Gen Ultimate, as we all know, in the village of Pokke there's the massive Black Sword. You mine it after every outing and it gives you parts that let you make the Black set. A very good Blademaster set particularly you play Great sword, fitting giving you mine from it. And like almost high armor in that game, lacking any down sides. Even after breaking into G.rank you don't need anything else from the sword, just the same stuff always givin to get it upgraded. Then later the big black dragon himself shows up and when looking at his armor bits it just kinda looks like what you had.. just 'BIGGER'. As if the old armor just grew 'OVER' you. One of the blurbs for one of the arms even simply says, "Your arms look like Fatalis's arms". And the skills it gives are the coveted Sharpness and handcraft. You're never meant to take off this armor. Fatalis in all his forms is the final enemy, the last task. Rathalos armor might be the one everyone knows. But Fatalis armor is the one everyone FEARS. Which seems to be the case with black dragon gear, giving Alteron has very similar blurbs about casting aside humanity and embracing dragons. Also, the fact it grew from a G.Sword and we don't SEE a fourth hunter puts so much implication to this. After all, why would a G.sword just be out in the middle of nowhere (HEH) when hunters are known to be in 4s?
Added kicker - when you beat (regular) Fatalis, you often get Black Pieces and Black Stones, the same pieces you can mine from the sword, solidifying the relationship.
While I don't remember much from Centaurworld, the Nowhere king theme is just such an eerie and amazing villain melody. He was such an incredible villain in an, in my opinion, pretty basic show. Now combining the theme with Monster Hunter, and using it with what I still consider the hardest hunt I've ever had in the series, and you just made a legendary video in this community.
It eerily feets Fatalis wayy to much in my opinion... If that beast had the ability to talk.. Imagine the sinister laugh it would do before every battle...
The Nowhere King's introduction was so amazing. Also for me, The Nowhere King is the most tragic character in the entire show and I will die on that hill.
Fatalis is such simple yet incredible monster for me, he *is* one of the most unnatural i'd say, purely due to the fact that he is as true as you get to a full on dragon as i see it. He is mythology made true, in a world where monsters are part of nature, he is unnatural And among his unnatural peers who defy said nature, he is the one who's been given the title as the most powerful and abnormal one, a true black dragon.
Thing is, every other creature in the series does in fact fit in the ecosystem no matter how bonkers their abilities seem. Safi'jiiva terraforms its landscape via bioenergy manipulation, while its rival Alatreon resets the environment and bioenergy through environmental destruction. Amatsu and the Serpents' storms, just like real life storms, are actually good for redistributing nutrients and water across long distances. Nakarkos, despite its gruesome tendencies, is prey to Ceadeus. Yes, even the Qurios have a place in the ecosystem as parasitic species like Cordyceps serve as biological equalizers. And yet Fatalis defies every law established by this world's natural order. Every adaptation this... THING has only makes it more clear that it's completely wrong on an ecological standpoint. In fact, the Handler poses the most horrifying question of all: Why would a creature need so much power that it could destroy an entire country in an evening? What purpose does it serve to be so much stronger than every other living being in existence?
@@ProfessionalNamielleLewder69Likely Fatalis is nature's way to balance the humanoid races. Which brings into question, if a lone hunter can bring down such a monstrosity, who really is the monster here?
Another bit of interesting Fatalis lore is that when they hatch from their eggs (yes, they reproduce that way too), hatchlings have been observed to reach full adult size in a mere matter of hours.
Talk about unfair. You think you've captured the young Fatalis and can contain it, then in mere hours it can destroy you and everything within a 100 mile radius.
@@chaosinc.382I mean... At this point you can literally see the thing growing with a naked eye. Its limbs elongating, its claws getting bigger, the horns and spikes slowly creeping out of its hide... You just see it getting bigger and bigger, almost like it's constantly mutating in real time, just like a Resident Evil boss. That's some lovecraftian-level stuff.
Technically they don’t reproduce sexually or asexually They literally take over an egg somewhere in the world if they die and can’t possibly regenerate
No, Fatalis does not represent nature. For as chaotic and unkind as nature can be, it finds a balance, it finds belonging. For all the seemingly alien shapes the monsters in the series can take, they are still adaptations to their environment and evolution. Fatalis looks very basic compared to the many dragons we have faced but that is because Fatalis has not evolved, it has not adapted, it has not tried to find a niche. Fatalis can only be found in places like Castle Schrade because it has no place in this world or any other, it has no natural habitat for it is not a part of nature and does not belong.
@@thenerdbeast7375 this as well as the other black dragons intern make the apex monsters like rathalos look more Believable. I remember the devs explaining why they have monsters like Kirin. And their reasoning was to make the the lower ranking or non-elders look more realistic compared to lighting summoning unicorn the same applies with the black dragons and dalamadur.
@@thenerdbeast7375crazy thing is that i heard Capcom either implied or straight up confirmed fatalis is an alien to the monster hunter world. Like came from another planet or out of a dimensional portal kind of alien. Dont know if this is true but apparently it was part of the monster hunter world fatalis retcon. More on that later.
I just love how the final boss of the Monster Hunter games is straight up just a dragon. No fanciness, some heavy lore sure, but design-wise? It's a dragon.
Everything had some bearing on reality, carefully crafted so that it could make sense as something found in nature. And then they drop in something that is known for NEVER making sense. Something that by its very nature defies nature itself... and make it the purest and most distilled concept of something we impress upon the world; the idea that nature can get revenge for it being wronged. Nature doesn't get revenge. It just prospers where it's allowed to. Monsters don't really attack out of pride or greater motive outside of territory, food or defense. Fatalis knows humanity. Sees them. And it hates them.
This is haunting, the way the body reforms from the sword and the gentle Nowhere King music give the feeling of horror, despair and fear. If Fatalis could talk, it would probably say, "You done goofed."
Oddly enough in the lore Fatalis can speak, It just chooses not to. to quote from an old page from the 1st game "It does not converse with lesser creatures"
@@austinjerome5447 Do you have a source on this? Such as where it can be found in game? Because everywhere I'm looking, I can't find anything about it.
...Holy shit. This was terrifying to watch. And I love it! It also feels like a perfect segue to a boss battle, or the ending to the episode of a series with the following episode addressing the appearance of Fatalis.
Holy spit. This is incredible. Just imagine a Monster Hunter scenario/movie with this concept. Like a cursed sword that were found by either poachers or an unruly young hunter, and as monsters are slain by that sword, it’s fury grows until eventually it reverts back into its true form. This could either work as a prologue or a final battle.
Maybe in a series or something, a hunter has to use the equipment To save their friends, slowly turning into fatalis every time they put on the armour, until eventually in a series finally or something, they turn into fatalis and now the rest of their friends have to kill fatalis, unknowing if they can save their friend or not
the part that gets me about this animation, not just the fact that its so well done, is Ojo's movements. granted, we can actually see her face compared to the other two, but my point still stands; given the fact that Ojo is in a completely different style than the rest of the cast in this, the subtle fear that we see, especially in the way she backs up, adds onto the terror that Fatalis brings. fantastic work!
Now imagine this, but from the Hunter’s armor and enveloping the hunter who’s been having nightmares about Fatalis’ murderous aura. This is why Black Dragons are horrifying.
This actually gave me chills for a sec, well done! I a part of me thought that the lore sounded while cool, a little goofy, but now that this is the image I have in my head for it, it doesn't sound as goofy anymore and I LOVE IT!
I wanna say that this is the most beautiful thing ive seen so far this year. Your channel is what keeps my love for Monster Hunter alive in between times where there's no new updates to the games. Seeing how far you've come as an animator is also motivating in it's own right! Keep up the amazing work!
Those subtle motions going in the pace of the music (tail getting growth spurts, eye checking each hunter one by one and all the others) makes this so satisfying to watch in between all the feelings of terror.
Worse part is that the same applies to the Armor... i forget wich piece of the lore adress it but Hunters who wore Fatalis armor would one day up and disapear, wich makes me think the Armor at somepoint influences them or takes control and wanders off to a safe place where he can grow.
In MH Iceborne i believe one of the armor pieces mentions that their owners get horrible nightmares so there seems to be some Mental effecting atriputes in fatalis armor. If were being bit colorful id like to think Fatalises Hate of Humanity has somehow possesd his own scales to a point that if someone wears armor made of them their minds will be overwhelmed with fatalises anger to a point theyll just loose their minds and leave out of fear that they might harm others around them.
@@KrystianZieba-kc8txi feel like some parts are exagerated but yes im sure some aspects are true. I mean it was just a legend that Fatalis melts hunters to his hide to strenghten it untill iceborne confirmed that.
I love the Fatalis lineage. They completely go against every other monster in the series just by the sheer fact that their lore and ecology feels more like an eldritch being straight out of Dark Souls as opposed to a natural part of the established Monster Hunter ecosystem. Although, contrary to how this animation portrays it, I would imagine Fatalis' regeneration takes time. At least a few years or even decades, I would imagine. Though, that does raise the question: If Fatalis can regenerate from a single scale, why doesn't it regenerate itself from any of our weapons or armor we make from it? Is there something with the process of making weapons in the Monster Hunter universe that renders it unable to regenerate from the parts of it that were made into our gear? How come wearing the Black Fatalis armor drives it's wearer mad, but the Armor of a White Fatalis gradually turns it's wearer into a new White Fatalis? Is the White Fatalis we fight in Monster 4U/GU actually the playable Hunter from Monster Hunter 2/FU? On top of that, what even is the relationship between a White and Black Fatalis? Is it a seperate species/subspecies, a mutation, or is it something as simple as a stage in a Fatalis' life cycle? What's the deal with Crimson Fatalis? And how exactly does Dire Miralis fit into all of this? The lore describes it as Fatalis' "incarnation", but what does that mean exactly? The more we learn about Fatalis and it's family, the more questions it raises.
Well, of course the regeneration from a single scale or a piece of armor thing doesn't happen in game because you wouldn't exactly want to wake up the next day and find your save file has been deleted because you forgot to take off your fatalis armor, therefore your hunter is dead. But in lore, it's safe to assume any piece of armor or weapon crafted from fatalis parts are to be ridden immediately to avoid it from regenerating.
@@xavyishvalda3608 Or keep each piece of the armor inside a cold storage every day and only wear it when you REALLY need to, because the lore states it takes some time for the armor to make you go mad, run into the forest and then implode into fleshy bits as a the Fatalis grows around you.
@@xavyishvalda3608 HEADCANNON The reason Fatalis doesn’t regenerate from our equipment quicker is because we constantly wear it down with our hunting and we keep hunting without rest because of our deteriorating mind until we finally collapse from exhaustion as the foul flesh of a fallen shadow finally takes hold and grows over you. As the light dims, a wretched silhouette reaches late dusk, as the Dark Demise’s tyranny begins anew
My interpretation of the hunter who wears fatalis armor disappearing is basically a 4th wall break. After you slay fatalis and craft a full set, what's more to do? You basically finished the game. So you quit the game, which the characters in game interprets as the hunter disappearing if they put on the fatalis armor
Damn, you could really make a show with scenes like this, Fatalis or some other monster would be the main antagonist, and you already have 3 main characters, plenty of side characters, and a monstrous army they can overcome
Oh damn. The description and the concept and idea of Fatalis regenerating was interesting, but this animation really elevated it to levels beyond what it could be! The Nowhere King music is also a great choice and making it like The Nowhere King's debut in the show is fantastic. Great first video of the year.
Its funny. What makes this pretty disturbing is how...not sure how to describe this...I guess simple it is? Usually with regen like this you would see bone, muscle, tendons and skin forming with regeneration but here. He just reconstitutes himself like he was made out of clay or is reversing the damage. The way its done makes it really creepy.
I can't stop rewatching this. I've always loved to imagine what a Fatalis birth or full regeneration looks like, and by god this is it. Fantastic work.
I feel like using the Nowhere King's Lullaby in this animation is nothing short of perfect. The Nowhere King himself would slowly emerge from a pool of black ink, which was the main material that his body was composed of. And, when he was forming, this lullaby played to symbolize just how much of a power difference there was between the main character and the Nowhere King. This has the exact same feeling, seeing Fatalis slowly forming from the scales of his own that were used in the blade, slowly enveloping it until his full form is unveiled as the lullaby comes to a close. And as Fatalis is forming, the hunters can do nothing but shrink back in fear, or stand frozen in place, unable to react. The rising dread and anxiety that this holds similar to the Nowhere King's first appearance in S2 of Centaurworld is so spot on, you did absolutely amazing.
this really does instill a sort of nostalgic fear and dread within me that i haven't felt in an otherwise normal fandom since the days of creepypasta. i really love this
The armor version is scarier. You make a new helmet, or gauntlets. All of a sudden you can't take it off, your mind slowly stops being your own, and the next night you disappear into the night. You are no longer you anymore.
I like to think this is what happens to a hunter that doesn’t return from a hunt and beginning to become Fatalis like in the lore and the armour sets lore
And from within the seemingly dead flesh A voice as soft as silk As old as time As evil as sin Calls out *"...hunt with me."* Yet perhaps the biggest mistake, and most foolish, is thinking we could slay what cannot be slain. Edit: extended it a bit 😅
the in between phases when body parts aren't exactly fully formed yet were some some of the worst and most disturbing things I've ever looked at it's so good
It's straight up terrifying if fatalis actually does that in-game, just imagine you crafting it's weapons (or worse armor and wear them) only for it to turn into a fatalis... on a hunter civilization (or worse... dundorma) On the other hand... my other self say. Unlimited materials. (I swear, if Fatalis is persistent.. And so AMI I! I'll take those Fatalis Eyes and Horns until I am swimming with amount of them!)
imagine if the developers decide to make a Monster Hunter game where you kill Fatalis again, only this time they throw in a twist by transforming you into the next Fatalis and having you play out that story as the legend of legends. I heard the armor basically entombs the hunter and kills them before transforming.
Pokke Village has a giant Fatalis greatsword in a ice cave inside the farm. Besides the ice slowing down the regeneration, you also mine pieces of it off the sword.
rewatching this again, i think i left a comment before, but anyway, this is probably in my top ten favourites of videos you've done. it's just such an excellent choice of music and the animations are genuinelly unsettling without being over the top
This really captures the alien nature of Fatalis, as well as the feelings of doom and despair that the beast invokes. MH Lore states that it can fully regenerate from the weapons and armor crafted from its remains, and thus it can never truly die. Brilliant work, overall!
@@kziila0244 That's a terrifying thought, and potentially a fair comparison. The way he regenerates his head in this video even reminded me of the way Ghidorah regenerated his head in Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
Wait... IS THIS WHY FATALIS IS ALWAYS FOUGHT AT CASTLE SHRADE!?!? Every fight is at Castle Shrade, and clearly we don't do a clean enough job since theres always at least *some* form of material falling from Fatalis, so safe to assume that every time we fight Fatalis, we're just prolonging its existance???
Reminds me of some lines from Warframe: "You can't hurt me if you just keep hitting me in the parts I've had replaced." "DO YOU KNOW HOW PAINFUL IT IS TO REATTACH SEVERED LIMBS?! You will!"
They would never do this but imagine they introduce a character in wilds that wears fatalis armor or a pendant then throughout the game they hint at whats going to happen to them and then they become one of the end game bosses
This is legitimately terrifying to witness, I can’t fathom how a creature like fatalis exists in this games nature, let Alone why it lives like this… With all that said, nice work!
this wouldve been 10 times scarier if they saw a fellow hunter scream and shout in pain as their fatalis armor begins to envelope around them, crushing their bodies before the true transformation begins.

…But the very last egg of said quest chain is a Crimson Fatalis egg, even though it’s presumed there are only one of each kind of Fatalis on the planet at any given moment…
_Meaning that, in the rare event that any given instance of Fatalis CAN’T regenerate from whatever last killed it (Like the Hunters resisting the urge to loot the corpse and thus proceeding to incinerate it), a new Fatalis of the same kind, _*_If not the exact same individual, memories and all,_*_ WILL eventually revive into any random monster egg on the planet, and will proceed to grow to adulthood within hours of first hatching._

Fatalis: Ello
I like to imagine the fourth hunter went rogue, these three managed to defeat him, and then this happens.
Added kicker - when you beat (regular) Fatalis, you often get Black Pieces and Black Stones, the same pieces you can mine from the sword, solidifying the relationship.

Fatalis is such simple yet incredible monster for me, he *is* one of the most unnatural i'd say, purely due to the fact that he is as true as you get to a full on dragon as i see it. He is mythology made true, in a world where monsters are part of nature, he is unnatural
And among his unnatural peers who defy said nature, he is the one who's been given the title as the most powerful and abnormal one, a true black dragon.
In fact, the Handler poses the most horrifying question of all:
Why would a creature need so much power that it could destroy an entire country in an evening? What purpose does it serve to be so much stronger than every other living being in existence?

No, Fatalis does not represent nature. For as chaotic and unkind as nature can be, it finds a balance, it finds belonging. For all the seemingly alien shapes the monsters in the series can take, they are still adaptations to their environment and evolution. Fatalis looks very basic compared to the many dragons we have faced but that is because Fatalis has not evolved, it has not adapted, it has not tried to find a niche. Fatalis can only be found in places like Castle Schrade because it has no place in this world or any other, it has no natural habitat for it is not a part of nature and does not belong.

the part that gets me about this animation, not just the fact that its so well done, is Ojo's movements. granted, we can actually see her face compared to the other two, but my point still stands; given the fact that Ojo is in a completely different style than the rest of the cast in this, the subtle fear that we see, especially in the way she backs up, adds onto the terror that Fatalis brings. fantastic work!

Though, that does raise the question:
If Fatalis can regenerate from a single scale, why doesn't it regenerate itself from any of our weapons or armor we make from it?
@@xavyishvalda3608
Or keep each piece of the armor inside a cold storage every day and only wear it when you REALLY need to, because the lore states it takes some time for the armor to make you go mad, run into the forest and then implode into fleshy bits as a the Fatalis grows around you.

The Guren Bombardiers would come to help at least.
Yes please. More terrifying fatalis. This physically had me smiling from glee
Like he was the darkness sculpted into existence as a beautiful yet eldritch sculpture that came to life to bring death into the physical realm.
I really felt sorry for that three hunters, they really aren't ready
I can't stop rewatching this. I've always loved to imagine what a Fatalis birth or full regeneration looks like, and by god this is it. Fantastic work.
It's like a Shin godzilla who's not a mindless animal, he actually has a goal in mind.
Destroy all humans.
The rising dread and anxiety that this holds similar to the Nowhere King's first appearance in S2 of Centaurworld is so spot on, you did absolutely amazing.
this really does instill a sort of nostalgic fear and dread within me that i haven't felt in an otherwise normal fandom since the days of creepypasta. i really love this
Now imagine it without the music. It’s just you, the ambience and this impossible demon of fire reforming from a pointy stick before your eyes
The Nowhere King lullaby is a good fit for Fatalis considering he's like the king of a world that no longer exists.
Pov: you forgot to mine the pokke village sword for too long.
The armor version is scarier. You make a new helmet, or gauntlets. All of a sudden you can't take it off, your mind slowly stops being your own, and the next night you disappear into the night. You are no longer you anymore.
This must've been a ton of extremely detailed work and my god is it terrifying. Well done!
I like to think this is what happens to a hunter that doesn’t return from a hunt and beginning to become Fatalis like in the lore and the armour sets lore

I heard the armor basically entombs the hunter and kills them before transforming.
Pokke Village has a giant Fatalis greatsword in a ice cave inside the farm. Besides the ice slowing down the regeneration, you also mine pieces of it off the sword.

I like that Ghidorah inspiration with the head regeneration
That was really chilling. Like something out of evangelion. Just the hopelessness of it all is enough to drive anyone mad.
The head stuff was some Monsterverse King Ghidorah bullshit and i FREAKING LOVE IT!
rewatching this again, i think i left a comment before, but anyway, this is probably in my top ten favourites of videos you've done. it's just such an excellent choice of music and the animations are genuinelly unsettling without being over the top
….This is, disturbingly accurate.. it maybe one of your most well made animations dude!
Nowhere king from centaurworld. Very fitting ominous lullaby.
I have watched this so many times today, it's not even funny. This is just really hypnotizing and chilling, I love it.
*drops weapons*
Nope, no, I'm done
'but-'
NO! WE CUT EVERYTHING OFF AND HE JUST REGREW IT! IN! SECONDS! I'M DONE!
This so freaking cool I reckon it would have been horrific if you went the armour rout instead of the weapon
The song fits so perfectly, and that silhouette at the end would put the fear in anybody
This really captures the alien nature of Fatalis, as well as the feelings of doom and despair that the beast invokes.
MH Lore states that it can fully regenerate from the weapons and armor crafted from its remains, and thus it can never truly die.
Brilliant work, overall!
That, and the Iceborne Book's horrifying implication that it's not even from Monster Hunter's world.

So…he’s MH’s Ghidorah?
@@kziila0244sort of
@@kziila0244 That's a terrifying thought, and potentially a fair comparison.

No, the only canonical slaying of Fatalis happens in MHW. I forgot where I read this, so you may take it as a grain of sand.
This video is absolutely popping off with views, as it should, it's epic.
Reminds me of some lines from Warframe:
"You can't hurt me if you just keep hitting me in the parts I've had replaced."
"DO YOU KNOW HOW PAINFUL IT IS TO REATTACH SEVERED LIMBS?! You will!"
They would never do this but imagine they introduce a character in wilds that wears fatalis armor or a pendant then throughout the game they hint at whats going to happen to them and then they become one of the end game bosses
This is legitimately terrifying to witness, I can’t fathom how a creature like fatalis exists in this games nature, let Alone why it lives like this…
With all that said, nice work!
this wouldve been 10 times scarier if they saw a fellow hunter scream and shout in pain as their fatalis armor begins to envelope around them, crushing their bodies before the true transformation begins.
Someone straight up gets akira'd for its regeneration would be HORRIFYING! I love the idea.
Imagine a Hunter wearing full kit Fatalis and all of a sudden transforms into a Fatalis in the middle of a small Village.
