I'm an ER nurse. Someone arriving in the ER in life threatening distress is pretty routine, plus she's an end stage cancer patient, nothing in that scenario would cause mass hysteria in ER staff and its shameful professionals would attribute symptoms in the staff to that, especially saying because it was primarily woman. Most hospital staff are primarily women, and even more so back in the 1990's.
I'm not a nurse but did groan when they said "most of those affected were women". 🙄 I thought we knew better in the 90s. My mum was a nurse. I can't see her ever being hysterical in a situation like this. They see this stuff all the time, as you said. We stopped at a horror road accident once. She was so calm while everyone was freaking out.
I appreciate you saying “If you’re ready, let’s begin” before each story. It offers the listener a moment to decide if their heart is ready, and it shows great respect to the victims and other individuals involved.
This was such a tragic case. The initial theory that mass hysteria was to blame was rather hysterical itself. Thank you for another wonderful narration.
This is such a bizarre and heart wrenching case!! Bless Gloria's heart!! I cannot imagine how bad her suffering and pain was??! I'm sure it was unbearable!!
I live in California, and there are parts that are extremely unhealthy (pollution) and by Pismo Beach there’s a nuclear power plant. Riverside is pretty close to me and I know it’s polluted af over there 😓 RIP Gloria ❤️
I remember this, it was beyond weird! An incredibly bizarre case, the science behind it all is fascinating. Poor woman was suffering so badly. She had no idea she would hurt others by using DMSO. I'm from Southern California, and Riverside def is meth head paradise, however I think the meth in the IV bag idea is a bit of a stretch. But I can see how the rumor would have started. Nice to see you again, Unsolvable! Stay safe & we will see you next month :-)
Wow what a wild episode! Awful for all involved especially poor Gloria. Im leaning towards the scientific explanation though for sure. Its certainly a bizarre set of chemical reaction events chain linking together.
5:54 a vascular necrosis. necrosis is the death of human tissue due to loss of blood flow to a given area for a length of time. Very interesting case, thanks for covering it. It's one most of us have heard about in general but not in great detail. 🙏🏻
Very sad. Also sad that’s she’s become known as the toxic lady. When that hospital. Was probably also at fault. It doesn’t make sense how it was her. Not anyone at her home had it..Not that it matter but we have the same birthday 7-11.
How very sad, and what a terrible way to go. Why was her body so badly decomposed? Was it not refrigerated? Shame the way her body and organs were treated, so disrespectful. The last theory is just ridiculous though. The New Times LA was a tabloid paper so it's just garbage. It should not have been included in the video. It's pretty unprofessional to even bring it up.
Hi Kay, thanks for the comment. That maybe be so, but you can be certain people would have been asking why this alternative theory wasn't included had I not included it. Naturally, I presented it last as I too consider it to be the lest likely explication.
11:07 “methamphetamine is dehydrated ammonia” - this is nonsense. Methamphetamine is a substantially more complex molecule than ammonia, and it contains a lot of carbon atoms not found in ammonia. Moreover there is no such thing as “dehydrated ammonia.”
meth is made from either anhydrous ammonia or red phosphorus. anhydrous ammonia is technically speaking dehydrated ammonia in the sense that it is destitute of water. it's hydroscopic in nature and seeks moisture from any nearby surfaces- in a human being eyes, mouth and nose. it's incredibly caustic and commonly causes chemical burns.

It's not pedantic at all. Someone who is going to take it upon themselves to become an educator and share informative videos really should take the time to learn proper terminology and grammar. Frankly it creates doubt as to the factual legitimacy of their recounting. Clearly they didn't research or pay thorough attention.
Great to hear your latest case Unsolvable - cheers
@ TCR Pleasure to see you here Sir!
Poor Gloria. So awful about her suffering and losing her life. We will never appreciate healthcare workers as much as they deserve.
Very intriguing and scary case! Poor Gloria. RIP Gloria! God bless the medical staff!!

i agree i have been a doctor for 24 years and i never have heard such a thing

So close to 10k, love this show, looking foreward to next month.

I remember this in the news...highly interesting...chemical mixing of some type/s ... I would agree
I tried DMSO, which is what you're talking about, as a pain reliever. My breath smelt like garlic, and I felt nauseous. So I stopped.
WOW 😳 what a crazy "pain reliever" to cause all of that. It's a good thing you stopped taking it, who knows what would have happened if you didn't.
We use it on our horses regularly. (Topically). And when it contacts your skin, you can taste garlic within minutes.
Sad, CR sent me, I enjoyed this vid, thank you 🇨🇦🐘🍁🤗
Welcome back Sir! Awesome job on this sad story. Thank you
The dmso theory was the smartest suggestion. Poor families of those affected though

Meth crystals, we’ll never know for sure. Absolutely astounding story, but horrible what the lady experienced.
Radiation tf ?
Great to hear from you.🧡
I remember this case as a Child so frightening. It’s what’s nightmares are made of
So glad to see you made it to 10k subs! Such a sad case. May she rest in peace 🙏

How Very Dad, and Disturbing! Gloria was already Suffering So much, and her Family has No Definitive answers!! RIP GLORIA 💔💔💔💔🙏🙏🙏🙏
Great episode!! Have heard of this case before but never with this much detail. Poor Gloria
A most unusual case.
Always look forward to these videos :).
Very much look forward to these video each month 💗💗

What such an amazing unbelievable story. I really enjoyed this case. Thanks very much for the work out into this video.

Looks like you made it to 10K! Congrats!
The last theory was a wild mixture of bs and conspiracy, kinda spoiled it.
I agree. The New Times LA was a tabloid paper...utter trash.

So sorry i was for some time not on RUclips now i'am back 💕💞nice to hear your stories
Of course Hospital cover up is not new. Lol.
Rip gloria I wish they could figure out what really happened
An episode of "ER" had this case written into it ☠
Hello! Thank You! Sorry I'm late!
So very interesting
Maybe she had had too many sessions of radiation for her cancer treatment ?? I can't think of any other explanation .
Good vids. Musics a bit gloomy after a while
Hi hopefully you reach 10k. New subscriber here. God bless. 👍
Covering up a scandal, just makes an even larger scandal.
How Bizarre
At least your theory makes some sense of what could have occurred
Hmmmm, I was thinking of radiation poisoning. Since she had cancer. Though the first theory makes sense.
You wouldn't get radiation poisoning from cancer treatments, and if you did you'd know pretty soon afterwards as there would be burns on the skin.
Last comment, no point when they vanish.
Did they ever try radiation?
Some sort of biochemical poisoning?

Have few stories to catch up 😁
👍👍👍👍👍🎬
Mercury poisoning?
I find it hard to believe that more than one nurse or Dr was involved in smuggling methlamenie to meth makers
Who knows 🤷♂️ I bet there was some good money to be made from it.
And if I have learned in my 43 years is that people will do anything for easy money
👍
Smelling meth doesnt make people pass out... come on now
