I'm a person that likes music theory, hates structured learning, loves self-teaching, and plays an entire different genre of music than Sam. I got so much out of this class and still am still improving. Shoutouts to Sam who, while on tour, recorded a reply to my arrangement questions in his hotel room.
Dude look at the the homies coming out to leave comments 😭. Thanks so much for saying that bro that really means a lot. You've also helped a ton on the office hours calls and stuff with little ideas here and there. And I DEF remember recording that response while I was touring. I think i did it in the parking structure lolol
Highly Recommend! This is one of the best online courses I've taken. You will feel like a pro pretty quickly if you follow the very detailed instructions. It's extremely thorough and efficient.
If you've heard some of Sam's arrangements you know he's capable of making sick guitar covers that sound really full. That's why I trusted him, I saw what he could do and believed I could get better, and at the time I was very chill about the decision like okay I'll try out this guitar course and didn't know what to expect, but now I can say it was absoutely a great decision. I had no idea what I was doing when starting arranging, my covers were simple and took forever. I'm now able to make amazing arrangements and know exactly what to do at every step with learning Sam's process! It's been a wonderful experience being part of the course's community! Also, I still take a while to arrange but that's because I'm masochistic and squeeze every ounce of detail into my arrangement. I have to make slightly simpler arrangements so I can make more 0_0
Aghhhhhh!! Thanks so much for saying this, Ari! It's been so rad watching you crush harder and harder over time. And for anybody that wants to see a little example of the kind of stuff Ari is making now: ruclips.net/video/lagjPn_7ISY/видео.html
Yo, Sam! Now that it's been a little over a year since I started the course, I can definitely say I'm super glad I decided to take the plunge with my other fellow guinea pigs! I was never able to complete an arrangement beforehand and would often just drop them out of frustration, so it feels good to at least get more projects across the finish line now. I may not always be excited to play every single arrangement I make, but I can still feel myself improving nonetheless. Like with any skill, there's no silver bullet to immediately figuring it out, but the course did a great job of streamlining the process and even included some smaller optimizations that I never would've considered. And arguably, the most valuable part of the course for me has been having a space to bounce ideas off of you and the other students to figure out how to approach some trickier sections of a song. Thanks as always for being so helpful and patient. Keep up the good work, bro!
Snate my man i can't tell you how much i appreciate the comment! It's been so sick having ya in the course from the beginning. You're right ... arranging can be quite frustrating and there really is no magic solution ... but it sure as hell can be waaaaay less frustrating than most people think.
Sam the MAN! I am currently in the course right now and if you really want to level up your game, this will really help you. The lessons are gold and I now have a better understanding of arranging music. I’ve been playing for 20+ years and this was a weak area of mine. Sam does an excellent job of making the material relatable and also takes the time to help you on your journey. Gotta get back to my arrangement 😂
Here it is and you may notice: it’s in the original key, and I tuned everything down a half step: ruclips.net/video/QBrp0zJdAqw/видео.htmlsi=oT34cHDy0v-5mq36

still working on learning radical dreamers arrangement for solo guitar.... been like 2 years now im sure I'll get it eventually xD . Kabukibear was such a god for arranging that song 15 years ago
I might do that at some point honestly but still figuring out the best way to make sure the right people are in! It's for a certain level of guitar player tbh
But for real, this course is utterly epic, I can't recommend it enough. It not only taught me the ancient art of arranging but made me a better guitarist 😎😎😎
I've been learning Outset Island from your tab I got from patreon. I get really frustrated, almost angry though because I'm not mastering it as quickly as I would like. How many hours is normal to be able to play that song the way you do? I'm probably being too hard on myself idk
I have been playing guitar pretty constantly for about 4 years now and have been playing classical guitar for just over a year, I learnt half of the song of Sam Griffins arrangement for outset island in about 3 months and now it's pretty much mastered, you aren't being to hard on yourself but you are probably expecting results to soon, if it's to difficult to get over a certain hurdle at the moment, you can always get some more songs under your belt and then re-approach the song and you'll find that it will become much easier to learn. Other than that, it's just pure perseverance and playing the long game!
It really takes a while for me even still. Learning the songs are the longest part of the process! Sometimes it's weeks but sometimes it's more. Sometimes less if it's a chill tune it could be a matter of days but it all depends
As long as you fingerpick, it'l work! Doesnt have to specifically be nylon string. BUT I don't do some of the crazy fingerstyle percussive techniques. Basically it's learning how to make arrangements like mine.
Please, Just please i have to see you at least react to John Butler - Ocean, if you manage to play it and put that in a video i'd be just stocked man this piece is amazing, and i know you'd appreciate it Take a look :)
Glad to see you FINALLY made this! Also not sure if you're going to read this and not related to arranging, but do you recommend using Patreon to sell tabs? I've heard other sites dedicated to selling sheet music can take a large percentage.
wtf is guitar arranging? I have my Girls in alphabetical order arranged on the wall... I have 3d prints custom to each one.... hmu if you want free 3d prints to arrange your guitars on the wall.
you stop uploading for almost half a year (longer before that) and now you’re selling us a course? dude you already have a patreon if money’s tight you just gotta keep uploading. i think you’re a really entertaining guy but this is kinda upsetting
He hasn't been uploading because he's been working on the course, practicing arrangements as complex as his also takes a while, I don't think he's stopped making covers
Whoa bro chill just chill it's his life and he's going to be improving a lot of people's playing in the process of doing something he enjoys! Be happy for him instead of insulting him please and thanks
