Thanks again for this, I didn’t realise how detailed your service is, took her out for a little ride this afternoon and everything is spot on, great work thank you 😊
Always like to see a dirty mountain bike. That means it is being used for its intended purpose. Good job getting it clean and freshened up for the next ride. Keep it going guys…love your videos.
Love it, I can imagine how nice it rides after the service particularly with new chain, chainrings and cluster. Customer would feel the transformation. Thanks, great video again, Dave
I'd love to see a crossover episode where wristwatch revival does a service on your Rolex. I bet it gets quite a hammering over the days and weeks! Maybe he even has a bike for you to return the favour!
That's a high end bike that's seen a lot of use. Even if the chain replacement's well overdue, I respect the owner's dedication. Great work, Mr. Speeds.

We get so many bikes in and out it’s hard to remember the what’s what’s and who’s who’s but next time you come in mention the RUclips to us, we love talking about it, thanks Phil!🧡⚙️
Thanks Diane, each week we have a mini panic attack about what bike to film. But we’ve learned people love seeing a straight forward service equally as much as a full on restoration ⚙️
I have maxxis tyres on my Honda CBR 600, they perform very well (plenty good enough to get your knee down) I’d not hesitate to use them on a mountain bike
Cracking job again! I always love the before and after pictures it just shows you what a service can do and it also shows how maintainable bikes are ! They can get into a right state but can often be brought back to life. Love it thank you
Id call this a service Plus. Great that you fit new parts to OEM spec. Id wager that this bike is better detailed than new. When you wash the bike in the workshop where does all the water drip?
On video it actually looks like we use a lot more water than we do, we’re very cautious to use as little as possible and then we mop up after ourselves ⚙️
Great video again. How do you determine when to replace a disk break rotor? I see you cleaning and torquing the rotors but I don’t think I have ever seen you measure the thickness.
With the videos we pick bikes that have enough for content but aren’t to involved for time scale of filming and editing so you don’t always see things like you’ve just mentioned I find through experience you can feel and see when a rotor needs replacing & I then tend to show and measure it for the customer to enhance what I’m saying.
I have a band scoured I use for something else that uses 100grit bands they wear pretty smooth by the time I swap them and then I cut them down for this task & by that stage they are more like 200 grit.
Simons is the Triumph restoration and mine, not for the reasons you’d think is my own “bikespeeds bike torque” video because Simon came up with that when he was very young and we had Titch, Maria & Jon all jump on board and help us film, but my own one ruclips.net/video/GdU2Nd8psjQ/видео.html was a real father son proud moment. We’ve come a long way since those days but it’s nice to reflect!
So satisfying to watch; I wanted to ask about the music. Which song is at 3:20? I checked LAKEY INSPIRED but couldn't find it xD. And thank you for these videos. Enjoying them a lot!
Beautiful work as always. I appreciate a really nice detail/restoration, along with your tips and information being very welcome and helpful. Being a regular rider, both road and mountain bike, between my wife and I we have 10 high end bikes, and detailing them is always relaxing for me. I am surprised then that I see so many bikes that if they were only regularly cleaned after a ride, and/or stored correctly, wouldn't need half the amount of work that you put into them. It seems very careless and possibly laze on the owners part, but I guess that is guaranteed work for you folks hey? Lol. I look forward to seeing your videos in the future, thanks and keep up the good content.
I'd rather spend 2 hours working on my bike than swipe the dust on my car's dashboard, and somewhere on a car detailing channel there's a comment about people being careless with their cars. It really comes down to what people value most, the time to learn and work on their stuff or the money to pay someone to do it professionally.
Each to their own! If you enjoy riding bikes that doesn’t by default make you enjoy mechanics. We really enjoy a dirty bike coming in as it makes great content lol, some bikes come in and they’re too clean to film! Thanks for the good vibes though Good Vibes!🧡⚙️
love these videos, incredibe work, but im super curious what grease your using in the syringe? looks similar in green color to the premium shimano grease, but its not nearly as viscious. anyway its really inspiring stuff! keep em coming!!!
This particular ratio wasn’t available until next year so I had little choice on the cassette but with the difference from the worn chain and old cassette was night and day. It was working beautifully. I personally think the chain makes the biggest difference and this was a Shimano one.
Would you recommend using brake parts cleaner when cleaning near sealed bearings like in the hub or in the bottom bracket? I've always been using degreaser and hopefully I haven't gone and ruined some of my bearings.
It’s what we use, it doesn’t sit on and run round / in the bearing seals like degreaser does. Brake cleaner evaporates pretty quickly which is why I like it around hubs, it’s less intrusive
If it was the blue, we changed the Rim tape. The old was plastic and had gone hard & was causing problems when fitting the tyre, so I replaced it. Although we film the majority of the work some things get cut out in the edit.
I’d have preferred Shimano but it wasn’t available until January, so had no choice really. However in the past couple of years with the world the way it is I’ve fitted a lot of Sunrace when Shimano has been out of stock with no complaints, for a part like a cassette that wears anyway they are a pretty credible contender really.
@@Bikespeeds the reason I’m asking is that I self do bike repairs as a secondary activity and indeed Shimano is hard to find for some parts. But thanks for the information and keep on doing these video’s because they help me a lot and it’s fascinating how a bad looking bike could end almost as brand new.
It went together easily in less than an hour. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.

That is an everyday lube, exactly like you’d put on your chain⚙️🧡
what is the best grease for the bearings? teflon , silicone or lithium?
It depends on the bearing and the climate / conditions it’s used in. Any Zinc Oxide based grease is a good all rounder for bearings.
