"Everybody Votes" was such a fantastic concept of a channel, I really wish they'd bring it back as a Switch app or something. Really needs to be more of a thing nowadays just for giggles. Just random harmless questions just to see where you stand in things that don't affect anything, it was a fun little ritual to do every day.

I mean, Nintendo just didn't miss on music for the Wii. Except ironically the game where that was the focus. But for real, the shop channel DID NOT need to slap that hard. Even the third parties stepped up. Madworld and No More Hero's OST's are amazing and you can rock them day to day.

The Wii is such a nostalgic console for me. I can’t count how much time I’ve spent as a kid making Miis in the Mii Maker, and playing Wii Sports Resort and Brawl. It had its problems (and it’s library is 90% shovelware, and it causes Nintendo to start slacking on hardware that still bites them to this day), but I still love this thing.
Also, Nintendo really needs to bring back the Virtual Console. It’s still bizarre how the Wii had the best retro support…

    • @austinkonkol2472

Its namely that nobody bought 90% of the stuff they ported, and most third parties have wizened up and realized they can release their own titles in collections, generating the best sales vs piecemeal.

I remember getting Twilight Princess for the Wii before getting the Wii itself because it was damn near impossible to actually get for a good while. I ended up spending weeks just reading the manual just wondering what the actual game was going to be like. I was practically crying when I came home from school and my mom revealed she actually managed to get a hold of one.
I will also never forget the Wii for being my official start to retro collecting. When I finally got my first job and my first paychecks, I went crazy at used game stores picking up hidden gems like Muramasa, Sakura Wars V, Trauma Center, FE Radiant Dawn, and more that just went under the radar. Sure it was the start of my library becoming too bloated for me to actually play them all, but I'll never look over my collection and regret ever purchasing any of these hidden classics.

Exactly - especially since Nintendo won't make a DIME from used game sales anyway, and I yet have to see an officially sanctioned and steadily available option to buy any previously physical Wii games digitally, let alone any WiiWare titles, now that the Wii Shop Channel is defunct.
I mean, sure. The Wii U had maybe... five digital rereleases of Wii games? But that'd require you to own a Wii U, which you can also only get used, and god knows how long the Wii U eShop will still be around for anyway.
But in case Nintendo is listening: I will just point out that both the Wii and the Switch both use Bluetooth to connect to their controllers, and that the Sensor bar was just a bunch of infrared LEDs in a box, with no actual connectivity to the console itself aside from power.

@@ToxicTurquoise454 Personally I think this is probably the worst period in gaming history. I've said this many times and I still stand it to this very day. PC gaming at an all-time low, console development become so expensive that only me-too games were being made, Sony releasing a console that was honestly a piece of shit, good Wii games constantly being held hostage by an obnoxious control scheme and an underpowered console didn't do too much except waggle, and Nintendo going through what is probably its most clueless period in terms of refusing to put games on the console that people actually wanted. There were games from Nintendo that I really liked, but I honestly couldn't disagree with AntDude more. Most of the games he showcases in this video are like, 5-6/10 games. Decent, but there's not much too them.
Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of games that I enjoyed back then, even on the Wii! But I hated what the consoles companies were doing back then and I honestly haven't returned to console platforms ever since. All of my favorite genres of games just weren't being produced anymore (strategy games, turn based games, RPGs, etc.) and no one was putting games on my platform of choice (the PC).
Nowadays my favorite genres are back, everything is released on PC, and I can buy most things at a great price without anything being locked to regions. I can even game full-time on Linux without any issues at all. Yeah, the AAA industry is an embarrassment but I don't care about those games anyway.

Deadly Creatures! This is genuinely the only time I've ever heard the game mentioned!
I met the developers many years ago with my father and he talked to one woman that worked on the game about how I was (as a ten year old) really interested in The Legend of Zelda.
God, to an indie dev, that must have been heartbreaking. The game was definitely novel, though!

Also had the Wii been able to play DVD’s, I wonder if it would’ve sold even more than it already did. And what would’ve happened had it been as powerful as the Xbox 360?

About the DVD support: the Wii WAS going to have DVD support, but it was scrapped. Data for a DVD icon exists in the data for the Disc Channel, but that icon doesn't show up.

So many games I wanted to play then but struggle for time during college. I wish I could go back for another chance to get more love from it. I still have mine and a wiiu. Started on Atari at home years after it's release. Moved on to NES at my dads and grandparents. Bff had a Super Nintendo. I had a Sega. Traded for a Sega Saturn. My bff got a N64, my other bff got a PS1. I got a dreamcast (fucking awesome system). Friends got PS2. I had Gameboy, GBC, and GBA.
Went into Marines... played PC, PSP, PS2, and Xbox 360.
Years later I have Gameroom with my original NES, wifes SNES, N64, Wii (original with gamecube support) , Wii U and Gaming PC. My kids all have Switch Lites. Oh, and I have Sega Genesis in my overland vehical that is powered via solar.
One wild ride. I still collected Wii and Wii U games.
    Favorite System....
Wii U. I have most of the library and a lot on virtual console. Plus my family still plays many Wii games on the Wii U. Being able to still buy Virtual Console games and OWN them, free online gaming (still to this day), and graphics being almost even with Switch make it my favorite. I know unpopular choice but damn they screwed themselves on marketing with the Wii U imo.

The Chicken Shooters originated from Germany
Theyre called "Moorhuhn" which closely translates to "swamp chicken"
The original Moorhuhn realesed on PC and had an integrated "buisesness screen", basically a sceen you can switch to that shows what should closely resemble a document you would work on, which could hypothetacilly give you the option to slack of durnig work
This series got as i said before a big hype due to its casual friendly nature and had therefore many sequels, of which none really gathered the attention as the first one did (theres even a Mario esque cart racer called "Moorhuhn Kart")
Thats why there are so many Wii ports of this game
There are a few good videos on this topic, but all of them are in german
For anyone who speaks german, the video created by MythosOfGaming is pretty well made and explains how Moorhuhn got such a big thing in basically notime
Nowadays the franchise is pretty dead since its initial appeal wore off i guess

Great video! The Wii is one of my favorite consoles for light gun games with a great selection of games. The aiming with a Wii remote is quite accurate especially with a Wii Motion Plus controller and a Power A Ultra Sensor Bar. As far as Wii gun attachments, most tend to prefer the Nyko Perfect Shot as it's reliable and fairly common, but I prefer a gun attachment called Imp Tech that came bundled as a pair with Chicken Blaster weirdly enough. The Imp Tech Wii gun attachment is a Nyko Perfect Shot knockoff but with an improved, longer trigger. Most importantly, light gun games on the Wii are fully compatible on a modern TV while light gun games on older consoles generally suffer from compatibility issues. A handful of these Wii light gun games did get HD rereleases on PlayStation 3 with the PlayStation Move, but the aiming has never been nearly as precise and they suffer from calibration issues.
