I think Khabib did a really good job of not letting Connor know that he was getting in his head...And then all his frustration came out.
What Khabib did was wrong but I think we would all be lying if we we're not all capable doing what Khabib did.

Mitch Hop two scenes are on repeat in my mind. The first press conference in response to Conor’s insanely personal insults Khabib was like “I stay relax, brother. I don’t feel nothing” Then I fast forward to the eagle swooping down off the cage. I still don’t know what to make of all of it. I think Khabib actually didn’t realize how angry he was until after grinding Conor into the canvas. How could it possibly be enough to just dominate him in the octagon?

    • @helmutwhynot8968

@@MrTigerstyle80 I mean Khabib admitted that he was angry but that he wanted to stay "relax". He said in an interview that it was definitely personal for him.

I dont think Khabib did this to show he isn't a coward, i think Khabib did this because his culture and/or religion doesn't tolerate this. Conner is an idiot, so is Khabib. I'll 1v2 them.

Very well said. And it doesn't just affect professional fighting. This poor attitude inevitably ends up trickling down into amateur fighting, and even teenagers just getting into martial arts are being negatively influenced. Now you get kids who aren't even from a rough background acting tough and cocky at the gym because they want to be like McGregor. These past four or five years have had such a pernicious effect on the martial arts community, and frankly who knows how far it would have continued to go had it not all spilled way over the top at UFC 229. Of course it was bad that it happened, but sometimes bad things act as a wake up call for everyone to see what is going wrong. I mean it seems like yesterday that Chael Sonnen's trash talk was considered pretty edgy. Kids are extremely easily influenced. Even at the gym you see younger white belts emulating a higher belt who acts in ways that are a bit sloppy or disrespectful. We all need to take serious responsibility for how we behave and present ourselves.

McGregor threw the first punch after Khabib jumped out of the cage to attack his team and the entire scene was out of control already. Remember Zubaira closed in on him at the same time and security was swarming outside to break up the fight there. I agrees with your argument of the domino effect, but the question is what constitutes the first domino. There are two main suspects in this question as I see it: the first is McGregors smack talk, the second is Khabib attacking McGregors team post fight. The qualitative difference I see is that only the latter was a physical attack.

Great video. I agree completely that this level of disrespect in the trash-talking must stop. I didn't even know before I watched this video that McGregor's team was bringing children into it. That's fucking disgusting. How can it be stopped though? Whatever works will be what is done in all things and at all times, whatever one can get away with. You'd need the promotion to impose some sort of limits I would assume, not knowing anything about how the fight game operates behind the scenes. And what specifically is off-limits? Obviously family and religion but where does it stop? How do you impose rules on what the Brits would consider idle banter (apart from talking about your opponents' kids, which no fucker should be OK with)?

Hey Zahabi... You're right McGregor threw the first punch but you're wrong to focus on that as the defining wrong move. Conor had no time to make a considered decision as to whether Khabib's cornerman had jumped up to help Khabib or jumped up to attack him. He had a split second to decide if he was, or was not, in danger and he struck out. We see it all the time with policemen and soldiers with guns. They shoot and kill a man who it turns out, later with video footage, was not armed and was not threatening to shoot them first. You have a split second to decide. Now, the police and army are terribly guilty as they are trained for years in these exact moments and their wrong reaction will leave a man dead. But neither Conor, nor you nor I are trained or used to such moments and so we have a split second to decide what danger exists and whether to strike first or risk being struck. I think you would have made the same decision. It's not a wrong decision and it's not a right decision it's just a decision we must sometimes make instinctively. It was a fight and shots were thrown by a bunch of guys who enjoy throwing shots. One guy got a black eye and one got a punch in the back of the head and one took a flying jump out the octagon... but no-one ended up looking like either Ferguson or Pettis! 30 minutes earlier the BIGGEST UFC audience EVER had just watched a violent bloodbath! The ridiculous 30 second melee after the Khabib-Connor fight was boring compared to that! And people who have bought their PPV would have enjoyed that shit! Don't make it sound like so many of the new audience would have found it disgraceful and will never buy a UFC PPV event again. Of course they will! They'll be even more likely. After watching the bore draws in boxing, or 12 rounds of no action and no passion, this will be like fresh air to people. It was a fight and there was bad feeling and bad blood and one man wanted to avenge and humble another and these things happen and they don't detract from the event but add to it. Though, I agree with you that they detract from the sport and the philosophy of martial arts. But it's the event which sells and the event which is king and the post-fight melee only added to the event - people got a little more bang for their bucks. Sorry the comment is so long... Thanks for reading (if you made it through).

1st sentence you had me swayed. I originally didn't think it was that bad in comparison to Conor's bus attack, but what makes it worse is there were more people at risk; drunk and upset Irish fans, alongside drunk and proud Russian fans. If the both fights (Dillon and Khabib, Conor and Team Khabib) didn't get split up as soon as they did, I'd say that even more fights would have erupted the stadium, putting innocent bystanders at risk just like you said. Take the crowd away, and it's minuscule.

Peoples reaction to this shows exactly the kind of society we live in. Trash talk, insult, demean, humiliate verbally is all accepted and then when they retaliate you start crying. This verbal bullying culture needs to stop. Most western sheep just will never understand and respect different cultures, religions, parents, elderly etc.
Edit: Not condoning what khabib did at all..i was sooo disappointed as Coach Firas said it would and it almost ruined the whole night. But dont poke a bear and expect it not to retaliate atleast once.

      Not true.
Humans will eventually lash out when the things and people they love hold dear are being degraded and insulted.
But that doesn't justify Khabib or Conor actions.

Wise words and good advice, but just to be clear the Irish man who gave the finger also spit at the man who dropped him, if it's the same video. I agree the sport is becoming a little bit WWF show. We need to bring back the honor of martial arts.

Agreed, both of them did wrong, Conor in the pre-fight and Khabib in the aftermath. I can't justify what Khabib did but when you read up on Dagestan you can understand more about where Khabib is coming from and why his line of thinking is like it is. Saying things operate differently around would be an understatement.

I agree 100%. Immoral behaviour breeds immoral behaviour. This used to be a sport i could advice to my children, it is no longer the case, i don't want my children to behave like Connor McGregor, a wealthy men behaving like a thug, it is no longer martial arts and i wish more people spoke against this the way coach Zahabi does. The sport needs more people like him more than ever.

I just want each person to take responsibility, and that first punch thing kinda diffuses the other people to take responsibility with that “excuse”. I just hope Conor take high road apologize and just admit everything in the build up was wrong and be better

  • @lukeboss534
    @lukeboss534 5 лет назад

The first punch thing isn’t a fair argument, doesn’t mean anything about the assaults/punches because of the way it went down after that punch. Each thing from Conor to the other two guys to khabib its all wrong but using this first punch thing is not really realistic because khabib has already jumped out of cage at that point, each persons actions are there own

  • @BRLonghorn

I agree with most of what you say except these 2 points. First I agree that childern are out of bounds and they should never be brought in but the other items have been brought up before. I did not hear Conor say anything about his religion other than questioning why he doesn't drink. If I missed something and he actually made negative comments about his religion then I understand why that would upset him but still do not think you should attack someone over that. The second thing I think, or should say know, you are missing the point on is Conor throwing the first punch. Conor was just in a fight, got chocked and punched a punch. Khabib jumps the fence and Conor starts going over then stops, for whatever reason, and when he is back in the cage he looks up and sees someone from the other team yelling and hoovering over him. He has no idea what that guys intentions are, he just reacted.

McGregor is a bastard, that's why I love him, he competes as the villain or heel alot. Who doesn't like that? I can understand Why people don't like it, but I don't really care how they feel. Its competition, the fighter will get what's coming to them.

I concur with everything you said coach, except for validating Khabib's coach climbing on the fence. If you see your opponent jump your teammate and then see the opponent's teamate climb the fence... Then assuming danger and throwing the first punch is pure instinct.
    With all due respect coach.

Firas is right, Conor passed the line/limit of acceptable trash talk, and Khabib made him pay. End of story, give them both their money and this should be a lesson learned for Dana. Don't promote trash talking that goes to someone's family, religion or country, and sanction players that throw dollies into windows.

I definitely agree with family, religion is a little more complicated and depends on what the other person puts on the table. Most religions take far too many liberties in judging other people they cant expect themselves to be free if similar judgement.
Khabib for the most part makes his religion known but keeps it to himself. Many of his sketchy associations are due to geographic proximity and politics. I think those should be off the table. That said many non chechen or dagastani fighters going to visit kadyrov, that sht is fair game. Alis kid is off the table, but everything else with Ali seems fair game. The dude enjoys the spotlight trash talk himself so thats to be expected.

Thoughtful breakdown but i got to disagree with u on a couple points
    1) trust the journalists to do the fact checking, no explanation needed i think
    2) conor threw first....
Khabib was already out of the cage attacking danis. So when someone reaches at u from the other team i get why ur gonna swing. And one of Khabib teammates made statements before the fight he was gonna attack conor. He said thesame thing after the fact too
