I feel like Tony has a great shot at beating Khabib so if Conor just stays quiet for a little while he might have a match up with a guy willing to stand up and trade with him. Now that Khabib is used to Conor's boxing it will make using his wrestling easier so I don't see rematch being a closer fight.
Honestly, I think Conor is better than Tony. Khabib is simply a terrible matchup for him. That happens in sports, combat sports is no exception.
I think Conor vs Tony is a fun match up it sort of depends how long the fight goes. Conor is a dangerous striker but Tony has insane cardio and he won't fight emotionally like others have against Conor. Plus Tony was national champion in wrestling and if Conor isn't careful Tony could bust out his old wrestling moves but even if that is the case I still think the majority of the fight is on the feet.

Khabibs highest fight purse before the Conor fight was only 575,000. He also remember he was out for ages so wasn’t gaining pay cheques from the UFC like he was. Then he fought Michael Johnson for only 57 grand then al iquinta for again his highest pay cheque before conor only 500,000. So yes he may of made 10 million for the conor fight but he’s now got his first taste of real huge money. So your silly if you think khabib won’t eventually take the rematch for the money any human would. Plus the fact he’s even entertaining a boxing match with Mayweather shows there is also a money drive for khabib. I think he wants to test the UFC and gain power by not taking the rematch straight away . So he can then dictate his future fights much like conor has.

At least Khabib was able to land his heaviest punches. What did Conor land? Khabib did exactly what he said he was going to do to Conor before the fight. He even stood toe to toe with him and slapped him in the third round. He broke Conor during the fight. Conor asked for mercy by admitting it was just business. Conor had to cheat several times just to survive. I was actually scared for Conor when Khabib had the Kimura on Conor's left arm. I thought Khabib was going to break it instead of forcing a tap.

At this point, Khabib beating Ferguson cements his status as the best lightweight and enhances his legacy more than beating Conor again. Based on that fight, an immediate rematch isn't warranted. Conor needs to get in line and fight his way back into contention in my opinion.
Conor was an amazing featherweight but I don't think he is as outstanding at lightweight. He can't get special treatment forever...he has to prove himself at lightweight.
