- open up the history books, let's go back in time
turn another page, read another lie
we've been fit up and shut up by what's been said
I wanna put a bullet in society's head
I've all the hate of a slave ship inside
asking questions it's a hobby of mine
I feel like the real prophet of rage
but it's hard to kick off from a psycological cage
time's up, time's up, time's up, time , time
time's up, time's up, time , time
Time's up
there's a piper in Hamelin and a piper in Rio
and he's taking all the kids but now it's for real
he's still outta tune and he's still outta time
he's the devil's disciple leading the blind
what can justify this social crisis
what can justify this urban decay
I'm calling collect to a corpse called britain
when I look around I know something's missing
time's up, time's up, time's up, time , time
time's up, time's up, time , time
Time's up
Oxygen, Oxygen, Oxygen, Oxygen
Alright!
time's up, time's up, time's up, time , time
time's up, time's up, time , time
Time's up
I wanna talk about those who died
I wanna talk about those burried alive
inmates of a system we are all deprived
by state machinery digging our graves
and I clearly understand that I might not live
but it's gone to far now to forgive
we've got dumb dumbs in power and dumb dumbs trained on us
but the real dumb dumbs just don't make a fuss
oxygen
those who don't defend themselves die
those who don't die are burried alive
in the prisons, in the reform schools
in the slums of workingclass districts
in the stone coffins in the new housing developments
in the crowded kindergardens & schools
in the brand new kitchens and bedrooms
filled with fancy furniture bought on credit
My life's on credit
This still sounds great, loved the Blaggers, and boy do we need Matty Blagger now in these troubled times....the Edinburgh Cas Rock 1994 gig I'd say was one of the best gigs I've ever been too.
saw them back in 1990 at the class war benefit show ,brill stuff ,instant fan ....oh the memories
Powerful song; love this band. I'm guessing the guitar riff from 3:41 originates from "Shot By Both Sides" by Magazine?
what an awful title 🤣🤢
saw them supporting manic street preachers with credit to the nation back in 93, i bought this single and played it loads.
Wolverhampton Civic Hall gig? i was there! bumped into Matthew upstairs and shook his hand, bumped into Matthew Hanson of Credit to the nation too.
brilliant'cheers belfast13
@fishyfingersparty Either Magazine's 'Shot By Both Sides' or 'Lipstick' by The Buzzcocks. Not sure which of those songs came first.
I guess it was a Howard Devoto riff… He originally of Buzzcocks, then Magazine…
Moreninho bonitinho!
And here we have the reason why the Blaggers are awesome. Because Live4Britain and his mates are still crying about them. Hey L4B, were you at Waterloo? Did you wet yourself and run away, with the rest of the 'master race'?
Brasil woke up!
i think neither :/ if it was a sample it would sound a lot more alike i think they just came up with the riff and thought it was good. i mean its not that surprising since its just an upscale on guitar.
And let's not forget that the court case got thrown out, which hardly fits the picture of Simpson as some kind of innocent in all this. He was drunkenly goading Matty all night and Matty reacted. Maybe he shouldn't have, but neither was it the unprovoked assault some would have you believe. Simpson's still dining out on this one. But he always leaves out the court case. Funny that.
And the music press always treats it as a joke when musicans attack each other. Are journos somehow special?
Huggles4Everyone Didn't Matty die of a drugs overdose?
The Blaggers ITA @ Rebellion Festival, Blackpool, August 11th.
O gringos mostrando a cara do Brasil pro mundo.
FUCK YEAH!! Most underated band ever. spent almost every other weekend watching them in my youth and if i ever see that c**t dave simpson he's a f***king dead man. RIP Matty
Wishplant Hi did Matty die of a drugs overdose? i heard someone said heroine. Who is Dave Simpson? thanks, shook Matt's hand at Wolverhampton civic hall in 1993.
