Today makes six weeks of Polyphasic Sleeping. I am still doing the Everyman 3-nap schedule. Today I am talking about three main topics.
Changing my schedule - I was having trouble adapting to a schedule that was pretty far from the recommended layout. Daylight Savings Time required me to make adjustments, and I decided to go ahead and completely adjust my schedule to adhere to a more standard layout for naps.
Swelling - My ankles and calves have been swelling with some bruising near the surface of the skin. This is likely due to replacing 4 hours of sleep from monophasic sleep with 4 hours of standing up (my video editing workstation is a standing desk).
Caffeine - I did quite a bit of research this week on the affects of caffeine on sleep, speed of absorption, decaffeination process, and the brain's response to caffeine. I share some of these in the video along with implications for polyphasic sleep.
What's up guys! Welcome back for the week 6 update! Here's what you can expect in the episode:
1:29 - Schedule Changes
6:14 - Physical Side Effects
8:21 - Caffeine research results
Thanks for watching. Let me know if you have any questions, and have a great day!
Another thing you can do to help with the circulation in your legs is if you're sitting to like jiggle your leg/knee up and down. Contract your calf muscles and push down on the ball of your foot. The calf muscles are like your 2nd heart and contracting them will get blood and fluids to go back up. The legs up the wall technique is also great but be wary of when you do it, it's typically meant to help relax and is a common yoga move before bed. Hope this helps!
That's great advice. Thank you, Rebecca!
This is terrific stuff. Please, keep it coming. I would like to try this someday, but my current work situation most likely wouldn't allow it.
Thanks for the feedback! Comments like these keep me motivated to create more.
By the time you're ready to start you'll have the knowledge necessary to be successful. You might look into the segmented and siesta schedules. They usually work well for people with rigid schedules.
Your are growing up..CONGRATS
Lol, you mean subs?
Anyway, thank you! You were here pretty early on, weren't you? I can't believe it's only been 6 weeks since I created the channel...
I am your first subscribers
That's right. I knew you were pretty early, but since your subscriptions aren't shared (in your settings) I can't see how early you subscribed :(
Nevermind! I just found you in the list :)
Nice !When you said polyphonic community, what did you mean ?Are there other people doing it and sharing their experiences like you ?
There are several RUclips channels that shared experiences, although only a couple that posted as much content as I have, and they aren't currently active. That's part of what motivated me to start a channel. There are also a few websites that share info, of varying quality :)
Good point, TryBow. Thanks!
Make a midweek update!
Also do a video on your diet
I'll see what I can do! I'm trying to diversify my content so I don't become exclusively a polyphasic sleep channel, although I have so much to say about poly, I probably could have content for quite some time doing two a week.
I did a Whole 30 video, although I'm not on whole 30 anymore. Maybe I'll do a vlog style video at lunch one day and talk about what I eat. Breakfast and lunch are the same every day, so it wouldn't be too hard to put together. Thanks for the suggestion!
Jake Bee i would like that because no one really is doing active content on it right now. Plus I'm curious on diet because i am changing mine up. Might have played into my oversleep
I'll put it on my list. It's funny I hadn't thought to do a video specific to diet on polyphasic sleep. Thanks again for the idea.
