    Thanks for your entertaining review.
    I bought the 6040 version in April 1978, in Singapore where I started scuba diving. Yes, it's 100M resistant.
    I've unashamedly loved this watch, wearing it all these years. It's kept almost perfect time between time-zone and DST changes, until a couple of months ago when it started losing, and is now languishing in the drawer, sadly.
    A lonely Christmas (can you believe!) in Thailand, 2021, I treated myself to a present - a charming red-faced 7T34-OAB8. But I found it keeping ever-so slightly different time than the old 7546, so I took them both to a Seiko service centre there. The verdict was "". They found nothing wrong with my old 7546, but gave it a courtesy polish, new O-ring, and battery. Perfect.
    Thanks again.

      Nice story! I foolishly sold mine 😥 I wish I had kept it, I still really love those old ones. I could probably find another but they are so expensive now!

    I have the North American model I bought new in 1981 or 1982. Day is in English and French. Have had it serviced several times and it keeps excellent time as I recall within 2 seconds a day. Has been my daily wearer most of those 40 years. It's now a back up to a new Japanese market Seiko 5 Pepsi automatic.

    Seiko had two watch factories and set up an internal competition to challenge each to build better watches. The Dani factory used a double triangle/ lightning bolt logo, whilst the Suwa factory used the Swirl seen on the face of your watch.
    I was given the international model 7546-6040 for my 21st back in 1978. It died, but "The Watch Bloke" brought it back to life for me. It was rated to 100m but only comes out occasionally now. I've just bought a SNE573p as its everyday successor, its a similar very wearable size, Solar quartz.

      Cool info mudgutsiv, thanks! 👍
      The Watch Bloke is where I first found out about this lovely little Seiko. I'm glad to hear yours is still in your collection.🙂

    Oh, my quoted verdict from the service centre has disappeared!
    The verdict from the service technicians was: these old watches are better than the newer ones.
    Cheers.

    Your review… FABULOUS! Just purchased and received mine and it is quite endearing. My 7546-606a just happens to made the same year that I was. Again, great review. I believe the tiny symbol just above 6:00 means Suwa I believe this is where they are manufactured. Not 100% sure but I’ve been down a pretty deep Seiko rabbit hole because of this purchase.

    Nice watch and video...I bought the 9546 6040 in Birmingham in 1981...100 metres water resistant...I still have the watch but it has no battery at the moment...do you know if a SR43SW will be ok to fit in it?

      I think that's the right battery 👍

    Cool watch. The Orange Sunburst dial is highly sought after in the U.S. I bought 2 of'em.

      @@WatchesKnivesEDC im also pretty sure your watch is 100meter or 150meter meter waterproof. But with dryrotten gaskets i wouldnt take it near water.

      Aha! Thanks for that. My dial's different from yours - mine says 'Silverwave Z' so no helpful numbers to give me any clues.
      Glad to hear from another fan of these lovely little watches👍

    Nice. If you want to preserve the offset press printed bezel insert printing just apply a very light coat of Armor-All with a Q-Tip swab. Let it sit on the for 24 hrs and then wipe off the excess rubbing it in a little too. Do that to all printed bezel inserts.

    I have the same watch but it is called a sport 100 not Z Pepsi in just as good shape

    • @WatchesKnivesEDC
      @WatchesKnivesEDC  3 года назад

      Yes - the ones intended for the Japanese market were branded SilverWave Z and those for the rest of the world were Sport 100. They're the same watch though (as far as I'm aware).

    I got one of these off eBay without a bracelet. I am having a hard time finding a bracelet with the right shaped end links. The ones I’ve ordered or fitted up from my collection all seem to have the wrong shape (the end link sits far lower than the lugs) or, for the solid end link bracelets, the holes are in the wrong place to line up with this watch. Any ideas?

    • @WatchesKnivesEDC
      @WatchesKnivesEDC  3 года назад +1

      Sorry Tim, I don't have any suggestions as they're specific to the watch I think. However, do keep an eye out for another watch with a bracelet. That might sound facetious but ones in awful condition with bracelet come up for sale every now and then, so if your watch is is good condition, it would be worth getting just for the bracelet. Beware - many of these were worn on Japanese wrists so the bracelets are often quite small.
      That said, these look great on a Nato or similar, so can still be enjoyed whilst hunting the bracelet.

      @@WatchesKnivesEDC I’ve bought junked up watches for their bracelets before. I’m no stranger to that. I have a giant’s wrist, so that’s usually why. The money I’ll spend for just a couple of links. Thanks for your video!

    I think the unknown logo is designed to resemble a quartz crystal. Not sure though.
