I have square for a brick and mortar and it has been flawless, super simple. About to open a eCommerce different business and trying to decide on who to go with.
I am a motorcycle mechanic and business owner. I used Shopify with the first business I worked for, and new that I've started my own I decided to switch to square. One of the greatest advantages to square is being able to sell services as well as products and track both efficiently and together.
Which one between the two would you recommend. Am opening a physical fashion center (clothes, shoes etc) and I need a perfect POS system with good inventory management, low product alerts, vendor/supplier trucker for easy repeat purchases, good staff/employee management system, good customer service programs eg: loyalty registration programs, inbuilt discount calculator etc.
I think square is the better option because of the no monthly payment. That takes a lot of pressure and stress off of my shoulders of having to sell a certain amount each month to make it worth it.
What do you mean no monthly payment...are there no monthly subscription fees with Square? Also with Shopify, do you have to sell a certain amount of stuff each month to avoid penalty fees? 🤔
Thank you for your video. I have a crochet, knit and sewing handmade business which is quickly turning into more than a hobby so I’m looking to build a website. Per your research, I believe Square will be right for me and then I can graduate to Shopify when income becomes steady.
I have a small craft business and have been disenchanted with Etsy...this was just the information I needed to decided with merchant service to go with!
I'm turning a fun hobby into a small online business. I'm looking to make anywhere between $500 to $1000 a month. I'm a stay at home mom looking to make a little extra pocket change. I think Square would be a good fit for me. From what I gather, Square usually freeze and hold funds from businesses making up to $10,000 or more a month. Should I not worry so much since I'll be making much less?
Hi Bixby! We can't necessarily say that it wouldn't happen, but it's probably unlikely with smaller purchases as long as you are diligently following the terms and conditions of the contract and being a responsible merchant (have a good return policy publicly stated, be careful about handling data, know when a transaction looks suspicious, etc.). Set yourself up for success by reading our guide to preventing holds, freezes & terminations: www.merchantmaverick.com/avoid-merchant-account-holds-freezes-terminations/ Good luck with your fun new side hustle!
I have used Square and I like it over all. The customer service so far is not so good, though. I sent them 2 separate emails and never got an answer,. It took me a while to even find the chat feature , and I had to go through a number of automated and inadequate responses before chatting with a human. HOWEVER, I hear that they are working on the customer support, and the fact that it is only during business hours is OK. I just want to be able to reach them easily during those hours. I think that Square is a good value. :) thank you for the comparison, very informative.
Which do you think is the better choice if we currently have a brick and mortar store but want to now offer our items online too? We do prefer something that can track inventory and which vendor it came from. We also need something that preferably generates and prints bar code labels for us to tag things. We frequently do discounts as well so need something than can be adjusted at the register and something that can print receipts. Finally we need to be able to easily do refunds or exchanges. Thank you!
Hi, Beth! Thanks for stopping by and trusting us with your question. We tend to recommend Square for shops that start as a brick-and-mortar and migrate online. From what you've shared and depending on what other features or software you needed, Square for Retail Plus is likely a better value for you. To be sure, check pricing of Shopify regarding any extra features you may be looking to find. We hope this helps and best of luck! 😊
What is the conversion rate on Square vs. Shopify? Do the store designs and features of a paid solution equate to better sales, or does the free Square solution provide equal conversion and site design?
Hey there! Thanks for watching! Although we can't directly compare the average conversion rate of a Shopify eCommerce site versus a Square eCommerce site, it's entirely possible to build a successful eCommerce business with either platform. However, depending on your goals, the feature differences (more than the aesthetic differences) do matter. For instance, both platforms are capable of powering an eCommerce site, but Shopify is better equipped to facilitate international sales due to its ability to accept far more international currencies than Square. Likewise, the advanced shipping tools and higher number of software integrations available to Shopify users can help your bottom line. There are some definite advantages to Shopify's paid platform vs Square's free platform. You can still work wonders with a free Square Online store but you won't have all the same tools at your disposal! To learn more about Shopify VS Square, check out our full comparison of the two: www.merchantmaverick.com/shopify-vs-square. We hope this helps!
I'm a brand new small, online business owner. Shopify seems to be the best investment. Square seems to cost more as your business grows (and you don't want to be penalized for growing your business.) Whereas Shopify motivates you to make that money so you can easily cover their monthly fee. Plus my business is my baby; so I want it in the hands of someone who'll answer the phone when my business needs something.
Hi, Brittany! We love Shopify and think you will, too! If you're interested in learning more about Shopify and how it can amplify your small business, check out our full review: www.merchantmaverick.com/reviews/shopify-review/. And if you're wanting to dive further into the differences between Shopify & Square, check out our full comparison: www.merchantmaverick.com/shopify-vs-square. Wishing you the best of luck with your new business! Thanks for stopping by :)
Im looking at starting a small online business. Which would be the better option for me? all opinions wanted!! happy to hear other suggestions as well :)
Hi, AimeeLouise! We're so happy you're here and hope you find what you need. This full post breaks down the comparison in a lot more detail, and it may be more helpful for you: www.merchantmaverick.com/shopify-vs-square/ If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask, and we'll do our best to help.
Hey again Citizen M! That is a very broad question. Shopify will very likely always have a bigger eCommerce market share, but we suspect Square will outclass Shopify for POS & Payments. Hope that answers your question! Thanks for watching!
I have a small business with around 6000 inventory sku's both physical items and services. I need something that will actually manage inventory: allow me to enter vendor invoices and have it automatically update the inventory numbers; also that I can set it up to let me know what I need to order and when based on inventory levels. I need it to work seamlessly in my brick and mortar store, but also allow me to expand my website for online sales. My website is woo-commerce friendly but it isn't set up yet. I can't afford to be paying out to multiple apps in order to have this functionality as well as a reliable payment system. Where I live, we have to manage two different taxes (provincial and federal) on sales as well. Will these both integrate with QBO, and do you have to pay for a separate app to do that integration?
Hi Judy! Thanks so much for your question, and wow, that's a tall order -- let's break it down: Square and Shopify both have official, direct QBO integrations. And they both offer fairly robust inventory. For your situation, you'd likely need Square For Retail with Inventory Plus to really manage the SKUs and vendors and POs. If you went with Shopify you'd need one of the higher-level plans with the POS system to really get everything you're wanting. Generally speaking, you'll be in good hands with either option. They're both very good products. They both work with QBO and a variety of small business software. They both create a seamless online/in-person sales experience and they both offer a LOT of value for their price! We generally lean toward Square when it comes to delivering value for brick and mortar shops, whereas Shopify is typically a better choice for eCommerce-centric businesses that are simply adding on an in-person shop. One final option worth considering is Lightspeed. They definitely have the inventory features and QBO integration, as well as an eCommerce plan for retailers. Regardless of which one you choose, you have some great options! Best of luck to you!
Hi, how are you guys? i'd like to know which one works better for the Martial arts school as i am planning to open soon, or any other one can you recommend? Thank you in advance.
I have a Shopify online store and am opening a brick and mortar. Just purchased the square register and trying to figure it all out! There should be something that integrates Shopify inventory to square! It seems like so much to do!!
Hi Dametra! Thanks so much for your question. It's important to note that Square and Shopify are direct competitors, so there really isn't an easy way to get their platforms to shake hands. You do have options though. The easier (and our recommended) solution of the two would be to run with Shopify since you've already got the webstore set up. This will make your store POS setup so much easier. The other nice thing is that Square offers a 30-day return on their hardware, so you should be able to recoup your money there if you act quickly. The more complicated solution would require finding and paying for a 3rd party integration to get these two platforms to communicate. You may have luck with Zapier, or Shopventory, but we can't vouch for how well this option works. You can check out our review of Shopventory (it doesn't look like we've reviewed Zapier yet) below, and reach out to either or both of them directly to see if they can, in fact, meet your needs. We hope that helps and we certainly wish you all the best in your store launch! So exciting! www.merchantmaverick.com/reviews/shopventory-review/
thanks for the video I've been torn between the 2 but i do have a square card reader i probably should go with square, gonna try this and see how things goes.
I am opening a physical shop, but already have a shopify online shop. Question: Is it possible to connect my shopify online inventory to my Square POS system?
Hello! Great question. Yes, it looks like there are a few third-party tools that let you sync your inventory across Shopify & Square. We recommend that you check out the free 7-day trial for this Square Sync app! apps.shopify.com/squaresync We hope this helps and thanks for watching! 😊
So my business is mostly online on instagram and my website is through shopify, so should I use the shopify pos? I have used square in other businesses before and did like it so I'm not sure if it would be silly of me to go with square even though my website is with shopify. I don't really want to spend extra money and I have the square insert for my phone already. I just need something that will allow me to sell a few items in person at my work or if I ever do a farmers market. What would you recommend for me? Thank you!
Hi, Madyson! Thanks so much for your question. We don't recommend using both Square and Shopify together because it can complicate things with tracking inventory, especially if your business were to grow. Also keep in mind that the Shopify reader is $29 and is fully EMV compliant, whereas the free Square magstripe reader is not. So either way, we do recommend upgrading to an EMV reader with Square or Shopify because it offers you better security. Of course it is totally up to you, as you can technically use both, they just don't integrate with each other and you'll be dealing with two dashboards, two inventory records, etc. We hope this helps and best of luck!
Hey. I’ve been looking everywhere for help. Would be awesome if you could give me some advice. I just opened a new business. We make handcrafted gifts/gift baskets and handmade goods. Kind of like Harry & David gifts. So I need a beautifully designed homepage, page for pre made items, and a custom order page. I’ve been using the square website editor but it hasn’t been that great then paid for the extra features but they’re also not that great. I like that square is all simple to use but it just feels very bland. I don’t own any hardware yet. Eventually we want to get hardware when sales pick up more. Shopify seems to have a lot more customization so I’m almost leaning towards that but I’m really just not sure. I’ve never tried Shopify before but it also seems to integrate with socials apps and everything else better. Figured I would ask someone that knows a bit more. Thank you for your time :)
Hey, Aidan! If your website design and features are crucial to your business, Shopify is probably the way to go. Their POS platform is solid, and it has far more e-commerce features than Square's online store, making it easy to sell across social media platforms. We hope this helps!
Hi Citlali! Without knowing the details of your crafting business, Shopify might be the better choice owing to its beefier feature set and integration selection. However, if you're just getting started and have a low budget, we'd be inclined to say Square is the better option.
Shopify for some reason sent me a confirmation message that said I bought something from a store yet I never did. I checked my bank and credit card accounts and nothing shows that they charged it to me. Could they have accidentally sent me someones else's purchase info?
Hey Big D! It's entirely possible that a customer had a typo in their email address resulting in an email being sent to you by mistake. To be sure, you can try reaching out to Shopify directly, or the store that sent you the email. Thanks for stopping by!
Hi Sonya! You should definitely check out our linked article for a breakdown of Shopify & Square's similarities and differences for a more thorough comparison. But, to make the best use of either Shopify POS vs. Square POS, you’ll need an iPad, as many of the best features are only available there. Square is pretty friendly about the whole bring-your-own-device thing so long as the device you bring is compatible with its hardware. If you prefer, you can buy iPads and other POS hardware from Square directly, which will ensure compatibility. But you can also use their compatibility checker to see if what you already have on hand will do the trick: squareup.com/us/en/compatibility?platform=iOS&brand=Apple As for Shopify, you might find our Shopify Hardware post helpful: www.merchantmaverick.com/shopify-hardware/ Shopify also addresses this question in their FAQ section here: help.shopify.com/en/manual/sell-in-person/shopify-pos/faq#what-devices-does-shopify-pos-work-with In terms of retail functionality, Shopify offers a robust shopping cart software, while Square offers a rather limited standalone store, though you can integrate other shopping cart options that support Square Payments. In those cases, you’ll still need to evaluate the eCommerce software you select. Hope that helps! And good luck!
Hi there! Both Shopify & Square both provide easy-to-use tools for merchants looking to sell online, in-person, or both. It really just comes down to your business needs and what exactly you're looking for. Here are a few things to keep in mind! Square is great for restaurants, small-to-mid-sized retailers, and online sellers who don’t want to pay a monthly fee. On the other hand, Shopify is ideal for growing eCommerce businesses, brick-and-mortar merchants seeking a POS app to use on multiple devices without paying extra, and those looking to connect their existing payment processor to a POS and/or online store. To see which pricing and feature sets will fit your business better, check out guide. We hope this helps. Goodluck! www.merchantmaverick.com/shopify-vs-square/?.com&Shopify+VS+Square%3A+Which+One+For+Your+Small+Business%3F&video_id=On#Shopify_VS_Square_Comparison
Hi and thanks for your question! You can sell digital products via Square. The one thing you may want to know about this, however, is that right now you'll have to email your customer with the link. Unfortunately, it isn't automated. Hope this helps!
Unless I missed the info. I have have a shopify online business rn & Im looking to open a brick, Ive done research and saw you can purchase square on amazon for entire system for $800. On shopify I see monthly cost of $89 and $2k, can you not just buy the system outright? Or did i miss something?
Hi Londa! Great question. Yes, Square POS can be used without a monthly charge. Although paid subscriptions are required for the specialized industry-specific POS packages and for features like Square's loyalty program, email marketing, and payroll apps. Shopify's POS, on the other hand, does require a paid subscription to use - there is no free subscription tier. Shopify Basic - Shopify's cheapest subscription tier that includes the POS - sells for $29/month, while Shopify's POS equipment is available for a separate flat charge. We hope this helps. Best of luck!
We have existing brick and mortar pos and are looking to change. We are a tourist retail and do high volume. We also sell $12,000 a month on our shopify site. We would like the integration, however we are concerned that the shopify pos is not fast enough to process our retail store's high volume. Could you please comment? Thank you.
Hi! I own an online clothing boutique and have my website with Shopify. I will be at pop up events every now and then so I am comparing square & Shopify’s card reader. I’m leaning more towards square. Which square card reader would you recommend?
Hi there! We highly discourage mixing Shopify and Square services. You are definitely going to be happy with the Shopify reader if you already utilize the software now. Our recommendation would be to skip that free reader and go for the tap/dip readers. They are basically the exact same thing. We think you'll find that Shopify's centralized inventory management is going to be so worth it. Especially with clothing, if it's already set up in Shopify! Good luck! And thank you so much for trusting us with your question.☺
Hi Henry! Thanks for stopping by. While neither POS system is perfect, Square has a bit of an edge over Shopify in a case like this. You also might want to check out Square For Retail to get the strongest possible POS features, including the ones you mentioned. You can check out our full review here: www.merchantmaverick.com/reviews/square-retail-review/. We hope this helps!
Hi Piggie! The good news is that neither requires a long-term agreement, so they're both "startup-friendly." The best platform for you is going to come down to needs and priorities. Both of their processing rates are similar, but Square has a free webstore (powered by Weebly). If you're more focused on cost (and ease of use), Square is the better choice. And if you like Square, you can upgrade to paid plans for more features, so you can definitely build up to a more complex store as you need and budget allows. If you're more worried about having a very functional webstore (especially if you have a lot of items), Shopify is probably the better choice. You're looking at $30/month minimum but you're going to get more technical features than you will with Square's free plan right out of the gate. Beyond that, a lot is going to come down to whether you want specific features or not. Square has a free egift card program, and I'm not sure that's available in the basic Shopify plan, for example. Do you need vendor management? if so, Shopify is probably a better choice. We encourage you to do some research into what is going to make a webstore stand out in your particular niche. Who are you competing against, and what is it going to take to make shoppers want to click that checkout button? Also consider whether you're going to ever sell in person (Shopify will work for occasional sales, but Square is much more robust for in-person sales), or work on commissions/custom orders where a good invoice platform will matter (again, Square stands out in this area more than Shopify). We realize that's a lot of info to process, but we hope it helps you decide which platform is best for your new business! Good luck to you!
Hello. I urgently need your advice. I am a beginner. I want to sell digital products like templates for e.g.(motivational quotes, word puzzles, to-do list and many more). Which is better? Shopify or Square? Would be really glad to receive your response soon. Thanks!
Hi there! Both Shopify and Square are great eCommerce platforms for beginners! But, if you're strictly needing to set up a simple online store and not needing additional point of sale features, we'd recommend you go with Shopify. It will have more customization options for selling and will walk you through setting everything up. Best of luck!
Hi J D! Our recommendation would probably be Square because their Appointments app (link below) has scheduling and you can block out resources, etc. We hope that helps! www.merchantmaverick.com/reviews/square-appointments-review/
Hey Sonya! Definitely yes -- All Shopify accounts automatically include access to the Shopify POS Lite, allowing users to accept in-person payments. If you want to upgrade to Shopify POS Pro, it will cost $89/month no matter what plan you're on. Check out our Shopify POS post for all the details: www.merchantmaverick.com/reviews/shopify-pos-review/
Hey Mike! Square doesn't offer any info specifically on how to connect your Square account to the USPS for label printing, but we found a help page (link below) that mentions the fact that you can get label printing through the Shippo platform, which offers discounts on USPS shipping. This option may be worth checking out. You may also want to check out the seller community (link below) as well, as they've offered some additional info on shipping and label printing that may be helpful to you. Thank you for stopping by! Square Support Help Page: squareup.com/help/us/en/article/6891-print-a-shipping-label-with-square-online-store Seller Community: www.sellercommunity.com/t5/Questions-How-To/Can-I-use-Square-to-print-postage-and-ship-items/td-p/116552
They don't at all. Been trying to get someone to talk with me about a problem and no one will help. I have had Shopify for 1yr and now they took some of the things that I need to use and said I have to pay 400.00 a mo. to use it. So, from $44.00 a month to $400.00. I am looking to switch to something else. Never will I use Shopify again.
Excellent. Can you recommend the best solution for my photographic service businesses, perhaps it's not one of these. I need clients to order multiple services at the same time, schedule and pay. I guess some kind of shopping cart is needed. Thank you.
Hi Alan! For your needs, Square would be our recommendation. With their Square Appointments booking feature plus their eCommerce integration, they should accommodate your needs fairly easily. Best of luck!
Hi Swetha! Square offers a very limited standalone store, though you can integrate other shopping cart options that support Square Payments. You can find more details in the linked comparison article. Good luck!
Hi Jose! Great question - You do not have to have a registered business to be able to use either Shopify or Square. Keep in mind that there are certain scenarios in which a business license would be required! For example, Shopify would require you to have a business license if you're selling more than $20K/mo or using a payment gateway through them. Hope this helps!
Great question! Square & Shopify both have a lot of great features which is why we recommend them BOTH to merchants. But if we had to choose we'd probably pick Shopify just because it has a few more advantages than Square such as cheaper POS processing, more extensive eCommerce features, and really great customer support! Keep in mind that Square is still a great option for businesses but it ultimately comes down to your business's needs. For our full breakdown of the two, check out our full comparison: www.merchantmaverick.com/shopify-vs-square. Thanks so much for watching!
Good afternoon, I would like to register with the square, but I can't, because I'm on the continent of Africa, specifically in Mozambique, someone is available to help me, please
Hi Teofilo! Paypal lists Mozambique as a supported country although not all PayPal services are available in Mozambique (Zettle POS, for example), PayPal payments can be sent and received in & from Mozambique. We hope that helps!
I have a question. I know shoplift allows you to have USPS pick up the packages from whatever address you put in, including your home address. Does square offer a similar service?
Hi there! Square doesn't have the automatic tools inherently, but you can schedule pickup with USPS directly. In this Square post linked below, they even suggest an app you can add on as well. Their app store is very extensive with several shipping tools. We hope this helps: squareup.com/us/en/townsquare/5-ways-to-make-shipping-less-of-a-time-suck
Hi Oi! If you want to use Square for payments, you may want to switch to their online shop or look at a Square/BigCommerce integration. Here is a post that you may find helpful: www.merchantmaverick.com/best-cbd-oil-merchant-account-providers/#CBD_Payment_Gateways_eCommerce
I have been with square for some 3 1/2y in uk 🇬🇧 I loved it ..the phone service is brilliant but limited ... however .. I changed my phone FROM Iphone 7 to Samsung galaxy A12 and it completely I compatable... so now I canot use my square account & hub.... so iam forced to take cash or buy a new phone or a chance payment to new payment system 😬😬😬
I don’t have physical products or a physical location. Who would be better? I want clients to be able to book graphic design service online without giving out my personal info. Also, I want to be able to accept deposits & tips.
Hi, Bri! Thanks so much for stopping by today! When you set up an account with both Shopify or Square, you can set up your inventory to be the services you provide. Square and Shopify both process credit card payments from your customers and those funds are direct deposited in your linked bank account. You do not have to share you personal information with your customers. We hope this helps and best of luck!
Hi Doug! Both Shopify and Square offer an online store that would be suitable for selling RC cars online. And with Square, you can get an online store without paying a monthly fee, making it a great entry-level option.
Hi, Jean! Thanks for your question. Square is limited to international sellers, unfortunately. The Shopify platform is available, but you'll need to find a third-party processor, as Shopify Payments isn't available in Africa. You can use PayPal Express or one of these options they suggest in their help discussion: community.shopify.com/c/Shopify-Discussion/Shopify-in-Africa/td-p/372801 We hope this helps and best of luck!
Hi. Thank you for the informative video. I’m starting an online business selling preserved food. I’ll also be trying my hand at farmers markets and will also be selling my products to restaurants and grocery stores. Which platform do you advise I go with? Thank you very much for your advice in advance.
Hi, Ali! Thanks so much for stopping by our channel today. Both platforms are very similar, and it comes down to some of the nuances in terms of what you are looking for your business. Our full Shopify VS Square post goes into more detail and may be able to help you make the best decision for your business: www.merchantmaverick.com/shopify-vs-square/
Hi. I have the square readers and I use thEm at vendor events for in person purchases. How do I set up a website with Shopify? I’m confused as to how they meet.... or is Shopify just for the website portion?
Hi, Elle! If you have a Square reader and already process with Square, you're probably better off setting up your site with Square to keep all of your inventory synced and only deal with one processor. You can set up Square Online from your Dashboard and choose a template, pricing plan (there is a free option). Here is our full Square Store review to learn more: www.merchantmaverick.com/reviews/square-online-store-and-ecommerce-review/ Hope this helps, and best of luck to you selling online! 😊
Thanks for your question! Both Square and Shopify offer easy-to-use real-time shipping, so this wouldn't necessarily be a deciding factor. However, it looks a little easier to access RTS in Square. For Shopify, it's automatically included on Advanced and Plus plans. If you're on the Shopify plan or below, you have to be on yearly billing and also ASK to have 3rd party shipping rates added for free. But anybody shipping from the US, Canada, or Australia can link to Shopify Shipping, which gets you discounted shipping and allows you to show rates to buyers at checkout. And you can do that without signing up for your own accounts with the major shippers. So overall if shipping were the deciding factor for you, with everything else being equal, we'd point you toward Shopify. Great question!
Currently in the process of deciding between these two systems. As much as square fits my business needs more I have heard horror stores about them. Anybody have awful experiences with them? Open to any and all advice on which system to go for! As of now leaning more towards Shopify since it just feels like a safer option for my business.
Hi, Nicole! One thing we have learned in doing our research is that negativity bias is a real thing. Most people don't leave reviews unless they are experiencing a frustration. However, in the vast majority of cases, people are happy with Square. Under the customer review section in our full review of Square, we found that even on the major review sites, Square has impressive ratings: www.merchantmaverick.com/reviews/square-review/#Square_Customer_Reviews_Complaints You can also do a Google search for those major review sites and see what some of the common complaints are, however. We hope this helps and best of luck! 😊
Hi Austin! We are so happy you're here :) To answer your question, Square and Shopify's online rates are identical. So it comes down to swipe rates -- if your average transaction size is small (less than $10), Shopify is going to be the better value. But that only applies if in-person transactions make up a substantial portion of sales. Square's online offerings are mostly free, so you will get a lot more mileage before you have to start paying -- but you may find it doesn't offer quite as many features as Shopify does. Whether the extra features are worth the cost is up to you. If you're looking for an online processor and you have transactions averaging less than $10, you might be better off with a microtransaction plan from Stripe or PayPal. We hope this info helps you make the best decision for your business. Best of luck to you!
Hi Nick! Why don't you think it will work? Shopify makes it easy to sell in brick-and-mortar and pop-up shops with its in-house POS system. When you sign up for Shopify’s eCommerce store, you’ll also automatically gain access to Shopify POS. Shopify POS lets you easily complete in-person retail transactions and process credit card payments. Your online store and POS system are synced so that every inventory change you make on one platform appears on the other. If you’d like more specific information on credit card processing and ease of use, we’ve written a full review of Shopify POS: www.merchantmaverick.com/reviews/shopify-pos-review/
Hi, Bonnie! In the Shopify dashboard, you can add sales channels, including Facebook. It automatically syncs your inventory. This post walks you through the Shopify process: www.merchantmaverick.com/shopify-facebook-store-sell-online/ If you end up opening a Square account, it is pretty easy as well. Once you get a Facebook store, you can also connect your Square inventory from the Square Online dashboard. We hope this helps and best of luck!
Hey, Gina! We're sorry to hear that and totally understanding how frustrating that can feel. Depending on your question/needs, you may be able to utilize some of Shopify's free resources (forums, help center, their dedicated Shopify Help Channel on RUclips, etc). You're more than welcome to cleave your question below & we'll do our best to help guide you towards a solution. Best of luck! community.shopify.com/c/shopify-community/ct-p/en help.shopify.com/en/ ruclips.net/channel/UCSG_dVp-hi_hWP-Z7DlpRgQ
Hi J.J.! You are correct. The Shopify Basic Plan is $29/mo, while Shopify Lite is $9/mo. You can read about both options in our linked Shopify article: www.merchantmaverick.com/reviews/shopify-review/#Shopify_Pricing Hope that helps!
Shopify Sucks. Ever since the new POS system came out there is not a single day that I regret not going with square instead. Shopify is slowly charging you more and more for "upgrades" you dont want or need. None of these changes appear to have been tested in the real world because they make things much harder on our store. I used to be a huge shopify fan, but now I find myself here talking about how much I hate the company on RUclips comments. Shame.
Hi Doug! What a disappointment. We are bummed to hear of your negative experience, but we really appreciate you stopping by to share with us. Best of luck in your next steps!

I am a motorcycle mechanic and business owner. I used Shopify with the first business I worked for, and new that I've started my own I decided to switch to square. One of the greatest advantages to square is being able to sell services as well as products and track both efficiently and together.
@@williamweighall2601 can you make bar codes and scan it for products and for it to go to inventory
Square is ass not sure how I could’ve failed the verification form lol I know who I am

What do you mean no monthly payment...are there no monthly subscription fees with Square?
Also with Shopify, do you have to sell a certain amount of stuff each month to avoid penalty fees? 🤔

Square is the best for business owners you don’t pay a dime if you don’t sell .
@@MerchantMaverick ......Thank you for the info. Its really helpful 🤗
Great feedback Daniela! Thank you for posting here, and we hope Square provides you with an improved customer service experience moving forward!

Have you heard of spring? how does that measure up to these services
Great break down. Between Shopify and Square which product you think will have a bigger market share in the future of services being offered?
Hey again Citizen M! That is a very broad question. Shopify will very likely always have a bigger eCommerce market share, but we suspect Square will outclass Shopify for POS & Payments. Hope that answers your question! Thanks for watching!
Thx. I am looking into Loyverse vs square for my small coffee shop. What is your thought?
Hi Judy! Thanks so much for your question, and wow, that's a tall order -- let's break it down:
Square and Shopify both have official, direct QBO integrations.
I love Square never tried Shopify

I am opening a physical shop, but already have a shopify online shop. Question: Is it possible to connect my shopify online inventory to my Square POS system?

Square doesn't accept payment through cards from customers in india. Does anybody know something about it?
What do you recommend for a crafting business that sells stickers and vinyl sheets
Can any iPad work with these pos systems or does it have to be a specific one and do you have to buy retail software
But you can also use their compatibility checker to see if what you already have on hand will do the trick: squareup.com/us/en/compatibility?platform=iOS&brand=Apple
As for Shopify, you might find our Shopify Hardware post helpful: www.merchantmaverick.com/shopify-hardware/ Shopify also addresses this question in their FAQ section here: help.shopify.com/en/manual/sell-in-person/shopify-pos/faq#what-devices-does-shopify-pos-work-with
In terms of retail functionality, Shopify offers a robust shopping cart software, while Square offers a rather limited standalone store, though you can integrate other shopping cart options that support Square Payments. In those cases, you’ll still need to evaluate the eCommerce software you select.
Hope that helps! And good luck!
How about square appointments vs. acuity scheduler?
Hey Piggie! Your request has been relayed!
Which store is easier to open?

Am opening a physical fashion center (clothes, shoes etc) and I need a perfect POS system with good inventory management, low product alerts, vendor/supplier trucker for easy repeat purchases, good staff/employee management system, good customer service programs eg: loyalty registration programs, inbuilt discount calculator etc.
I’m just starting out with my online business. Which one would you recommend for beginners?
What would be good for a service. So not selling a physical product but a service

Do you need to have a registered business to use one of these devices?
Hi Jose! Great question - You do not have to have a registered business to be able to use either Shopify or Square. Keep in mind that there are certain scenarios in which a business license would be required! For example, Shopify would require you to have a business license if you're selling more than $20K/mo or using a payment gateway through them. Hope this helps!
So is customer support the biggest reason you picked Shopify over Square?
Great question! Square & Shopify both have a lot of great features which is why we recommend them BOTH to merchants. But if we had to choose we'd probably pick Shopify just because it has a few more advantages than Square such as cheaper POS processing, more extensive eCommerce features, and really great customer support!
Looking for one that is cost effective with a low margin, high volume business model. What does everyone think?
Hi Austin! We are so happy you're here :)
To answer your question, Square and Shopify's online rates are identical.
I like square better but I need SEO help and help to make my web speed faster
Shopify $9 per month + per transaction % and square flat rate 2.7% per transaction , right?
Hi Nou! You can see a side-by-side pricing comparison here: www.merchantmaverick.com/shopify-vs-square/#Shopify_VS_Square_Pricing
I started using shopify for my Auto parts store (real store) and i don't think is going to work for my kind of business
@@MerchantMaverick thanks I'm going to check it out
Great video!!! Very helpful!
Thank you for sharing! We are so happy to help :)
How do you get these to show up on fb? 🥴🥴🥴
Very usefull. Thanks
The Shopify help team doesn’t help with much. They also don’t get back to you right away.

I thought Shopify base plan is $29.
Hi J.J.! You are correct. The Shopify Basic Plan is $29/mo, while Shopify Lite is $9/mo. You can read about both options in our linked Shopify article: www.merchantmaverick.com/reviews/shopify-review/#Shopify_Pricing Hope that helps!
@@MerchantMaverick Thank you! I had the basic plan but decided to transfer my domain name to square because I don’t need something so advanced.
great damn video!!!!
Thanks so much for your awesome feedback. We're happy you enjoyed it!
Square is slightly cheaper
Shopify Sucks. Ever since the new POS system came out there is not a single day that I regret not going with square instead. Shopify is slowly charging you more and more for "upgrades" you dont want or need. None of these changes appear to have been tested in the real world because they make things much harder on our store. I used to be a huge shopify fan, but now I find myself here talking about how much I hate the company on RUclips comments. Shame.
Hi Doug! What a disappointment. We are bummed to hear of your negative experience, but we really appreciate you stopping by to share with us. Best of luck in your next steps!
why Square?
