I actually made a perpetual one with two bud switches (A sticky piston with a alone block and a redstone block on top of it).

@@skmgeek All it is is a couple of sticky pistons, observers, and stationary bud switches. Nothing too exciting.
@@theyedmeister6981 the more compact it is, the better. Also, if it uses easily accessible materials in single player, it could help a lot of people. And as we all know, redstone, ever since 1.14, is easyer to get than ever, especially easyer than mining/bombing out a sufficiently large area for a slime farm.

on bedrock, even the most simple flying machines are self returning. They don't always turn back at the same time, and they sometimes struggle with what direction they're supposed to go, but they can turn back just fine.
all jokes aside, some of these flying machines will really improve the cost efficiency of a lot of farms, especially in single player, where getting a decent slime farm running takes a really long time.
I used to think self returning flying machines are some super crazy combination of observers and movement of pistons when actually an observer and trapdoor can do the trick...
Flint and steel: I'm a joke to you?
If I remember correctly, the behavior of flint and steel was changed in recent versions. Before it would make fire as long as there was free space, even if the fire would vanish a tick later. Now flint and steel won't make a fire unless there is something to support it. However, fire charges never received this change, so they are still useful for giving 1-tick updates to observers.

Ilmango, do you have any uses for a variable speed, self returning, 2 directional flying machine? I couldn’t find any videos on RUclips showing designs for one, so I made my own. I’ll upload a video of the design today if there’s enough interest.

, you and your team have done almost everything imaginable on the sci craft server. my mind is blown when you present the next big project! anyway, can you use a network of end pearl cannons to travel to every corner of the map? I am aware that the task might take weeks of chunk loading to make possible, but it would be a world first in survival if it is done!
Make a 6 way flying machine so we can travel across the map to wherever we want like a train!

I’d love to see a horizontal 4-way flying machine WITHOUT quasi-connectivity (in other words, BE compatible). I feel like it could be done, but I’ve never seen anyone do so.
Bonus points if it can transport a good number of mobs safely.
But it's need one-time pulses which Bedrock Edition doesn't have...

I want to see a flying machine that would not need something at the end to stop it. Instead using a pair of machines, a slow and fast one, where the fast one is launched after a delay and gets the slow one and itself to return when they meet.

I have a question, I wanna send this machiene out in the end so if it hits another end island it would come back, and I know there would be a city there. Does it return if it hits something in unloaded chunks?

Not sure if this concept is usefull: Could one not use a combination of two flying machines with different speeds. Both are getting launched in a station with some delay (Which can be manually set) and once the faster machine catches up with the slower one they would both return.
I guess most of the time it would be less efford to just use an extra station for the return but you never know if there could be a need.
this had relevancy in 1.12 and below for spawner generation. People were using this

Nice, might try improve a dark oak farm design I had going with one of these
idea: can you make a tracking machine? at its most basic: any time a given block moves left or right, the machine moves along with it. This would allow for flying machine extensions without having to consider the push limit
The only one I’ve built was one with a noteblock from your kelp farm. Not showcased here, but works fine!
I have long 2x3 Horse tunnels at Y63 traversing my world. I was wondering if there was a good 2x3 flying machine that could go down them and back, pushing mobs as they went along the way for a long distance mass transport system. A two-way airbus mass transit system for transporting mobs across vast distances between villages, or other points of interest in the would also be nice, especially in the End dimension. If you could have a way to automatically corral them at their destinations, that would also be a nice feature. Thx in advance.

Ive got an even more compact one than the above shown designs, 4 slime blocks, 2 observers and 3 sticky pistons. Difficult to describe but it gets the job done. However on playstation version it tends to freeze sometimes and produce ghost blocks which i never found an explanation for

Do you know if it is still possible to generate mob spawners yourself in newly generated chunks, like Panda did a few years ago in his survival world? He did it before slime blocks even existed, I wonder to what size a contraption like his could be reduced to today.

Sakul Sakul I’m sure your computer could handle it if you turned the graphics quality down low. I used to play minecraft on a windows xp computer. Now i run windows 10, though, as i do get a better framerate
@@sakulsakul5818 just use GeForce now, it plays the game on their servers, so as long as your wifi is half decent, you can run practically any game on max visual settings

@@skmgeek I've had a self returning bedrock version but I was never able to make it small. The problem I have is the random piston ticks make it hard to keep the timing in the order needed.
Joshua Hess random piston ticks? Pistons take 3 ticks to extend and 1 tick to retract in mcpe. Never changes.
@@skmgeek it might have been better to say random piston updates. They may extend at thre same rate but you can't garentee the updated order path. If you build some of the flying machine in the video they end up going back and forth erratically instead of a single direction.
Joshua Hess acually, the erratic behaviour is caused by the fact that sticky pistons cannot spit out their block when given a 1 tick pulse, (by an observer, for example). You are correct when you say that pistons update in a semi-random order (nothing is actually random in video games, it just looks random. It is all just algorithms generating the randomness), as either of the two pistons will fire off first, preventing the other one to go off. Then, the piston does not spit out its block, but instead pulls it back to where it was before, activating the other piston, and repeating the process. If either of the two pistons activate mid-extension of the other, it will actually pull the creation forward. I have actually designed my own two-way flying machine in minecraft bedrock, but it wasn’t auto-return. Maybe I could modify my design slightly so that it self returns.

In the scicraft discord there is a trencher litematic which uses etas old self returning flying machine, it is exaxtly the machine you are asking for
