Thanks for your generous tutorial and most reliable formulas on net. please tell ?? Is rubbing alcohol same as [ isopropyl alcohol 70 % ] .....There's so shortage of 100% ethanol ,,could you please tell how much 70 percent should we use instead of 100 percent.. if possible.. THANKS
My question is: what else is in that rubbing alcohol? If you don't know for sure, don't use it. If its just water and isopropyl alcohol then yes you can but it will end up less than 70% (less than hospital grade) because of what else you add, is you try to gel it or add glycerin for example.

Thank you so much for this. I will be using isopropyl alcohol but I have one question. Diluting the 100% isopropyl alcohol with water the way u did, will I need to add any preservatives?

Great video. I chuckled at the part where you were trying to get the glycerin out of the bowl though, why not add the water to the glycerin instead?
Please remember you need to make any lab method suit large production - it is not practical to add and mix glycerin this way in a 2000kg production size.

Hello Belinda....Video's and knowledge is amazing! Thank you for sharing. For those of us who don't have scales and are considering your courses, is their a conversion we can use?
I'll pop in here. There is not. In order to get the correct measurement you must go by weight and weight only. There is far too much room for error in measuring by volume, which can be dangerous in cosmetics.
The good news is, you can find accurate digital scales online very cheap 😊

How about hydroxide peroxide for disinfectant?? Or can use alcohol only for sanitizing

Can I use tap water or filtered water in place of distilled water?
No - do not use tap water! Filtered water depends on the filtration quality and process, it needs to have ions and micro organisms removed. If you are not sure of the quality then please purchase distilled water from a reliable source.

What if the alcohol is only 70%, what's the percentage of glycerin n water?
About zero
Keep glycerin to 3% maximum - it will no longer be hospital grade but will still sanitize.

I watched this twice, did she give amounts of each product? I must have missed it.
It all comes down to the strength of alcohol you use.
If it is what was shown in start of video, 100 percent alcohol, then you want at least 70 percent volume.
For example, 100ml bottle would need 70ml alcohol that is 100 percent, 30 percent carrier.
The math follows for lower grade.

What about 96% ethanol as advised by WHO in their hand sanitizer formula? Could I use that also?

When I took microbiology our professor told us using 100% alcohol was not effective in sanitizing because you needed the water so the pathogenic cells can burst and die after the alcohol destroys the walls. So she taught us 70% is better. Is my professor wrong?

No you cannot get either of these alcohols easily!!! They are sold out everywhere! So now what do I do for sanitizer. Your videos are nice but have you actually looked for these alcohols online? You will find that they can't be ordered
Get metho and your own aloe plant, problem solved.
Don't use methylated spirits if using on your hands.

Lemon essential oil can be phototoxic when exposed to the sun, therefore it can cause skin burns.
