When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. John Lennon

@@FrancyPaul There are two main ideas from that quote. First, it is far more fulfilling to act in the service of others instead of being self-obsessed. Second, to be perfectly happy, you have to first stop expecting a reward or consequence, and you should do things, and live in the present, simply to do things and live in the present.
I am 60 years young. You are blessed-to have come to realizations that it takes most of us a lifetime to learn- let alone practice. We ARE bombarded. We don’t find time to breathe, we have ridiculously high expectations of ourselves. BUT we have everything we need inside us already. We just need to take the time to rap into our possibilities. We are enough! What would I tell my younger self? BE FEARLESS and ALWAYS BE KIND.
👌I am studying psychology and learning japnese language, culture and zen and thinking to become a monk. I am 23 yr interested alot in spiritual life and want to do good for others 😇
Thinking of becoming monk is different from becoming a monk. Learning any language or culture or anything will not make you a monk. Becoming monk is effortless but nobody can withstand that effortless way of living by detaching ourself from rest of the world living in the world. A normal soul becomes monk soul when he/she knows how to be calm in all situations.

I was deeply enlightened by Jay shetty in the worst time of my life active addiction. It’s been 5 years I been clean today and I can honestly say his exactly what I needed to hear in those dark moments. Forever grateful!
I'm 23 years old. I feel a sudden change in me already. Instead of my personal ambition I've started to think about making a contribution. I just need to figure how. But I'm on it. Jay is incredible. Jay Shri Krishna!
The secret lies in your passion. Your passion becomes your purpose in life, when you use it in making contribution to the world at large. Fortunately, everyone in the universe has a hobby or passion for something. There's no worthless person in the universe. It's the self-awareness that's simply lacking.
Yes! I’m 61 and wished I knew this stuff when I was younger. Continue your journey and reprogram your mind! We are creators and you were meant to live a fulfilled life!
I’m a spiritual teacher myself but this is still very inspiring for me. He’s devoted to whatever he believes in and that’s what made him very impactful very fast

I have a very similar story... I had a lot of very close friends when I was in high school... then my 4 best friends died in an accident.... I was so sad for a long time so I started to meditate and do any kind of therapy... I started to study psychology, then NLP and Hypnosis and Time line therapy and energy healing... I went to Tony Robbins seminars, 5 week NLP / Hypnosis Trainings, Energy healing courses... then I found a Monk a few months after I woke up... Just by being in his presence you would feel Love and Peace and total clarity... it was so relaxing. So I decided to become like this!
I had some pretty serious anxiety going on at work before I put on this video, I'm almost 7 minutes in and I feel more calm than I have felt all day. Thank you for your hard work and awesome content
I watched this video when it first came out and I’m rewatching it now.... the difference between then and now is the fact that I’m now woke, awakened, conscience, and at peace now. Everything Jay is saying is true. Your mind is the power. You can change and live a life you love. No attachment. It’s blissful.
Hinduism taught me all these, with my family who gave me all goodness and freedom but not spoiling me with money but richness of everything. I like him and relate him. Wish jay for all goodness.
Jay Shetty's "Think like a Monk" audiobook has been life changing. As soon as I finished it, I started it again and will listen after my second playthrough. It has been really eye opening on finding inner happiness and purpose. Even meditating has been more peaceful whereas before I had a very active monkey mind. I've taken many pieces of advice he has suggested and have found more time in my day. Highly recommend listening to it.
One of the only individuals that I can sincerely sit there and watch for 30+ mins straight without even getting distracted or even losing interest in at all. This was so deep and pact with so much knowledge!!👌
I absolutely love this! Thank you. It’s so energetically transformative. Not just the wisdom and inspiration of your words, but also the vibration that you transmit. It’s intangible yet very powerful which you only find in the best kind of teachers.
I survived a fatal accident (I was hit by a jeep) at the age of 4. It was a miracle considering the severity of my injury and remoteness of my village. I learnt that entire village helped my parents in keeping me alive. Ever since that accident, I grew up to be immensely sensitive. I began to believe from my childhood that to remain happy as I live is extremely essential. I dreamed of 'Happiness' to prevail at all corners of the world. These emotions in my head led me write a book titled "Heaven Descends on Our Earth", which tells the story of the young people's revolution to usher in peace and happiness across the world. My soul will not rest unless I am able to share these feelings with many people across the world.
Wow whatever he said it's true and we need to followup his rule. He explained Bhagavad Gita is main book for learn about how to behave in the society. First time I watch one English motivated video till end with full focus. God bless you. And I will start to read books from on words.
While watching this from a certain point of time it reminded me of when I was in 5th grade and I didn't have a book to read but I carried around a dictionary my father gave me. In class, during reading time I would take it out and go through the alphabet because I didn't know where to start but my teacher would yell at me, "YOU CAN"T READ A DICTIONARY" and it made me doubt myself for doing this. I was naturally inclined to be self-conscious because it was considered abnormal but looking back at it now I wish I continued despite her objections. My father taught me that words are powerful and I wanted to prove to him that I was doing the work he desired of me, despite not knowing his good intentions.
If everybody knew this...there would be heaven on earth...but as sad as it is, mankind doesn’t want that... So you must create your own heaven... See it, manifest it, and live it... Bliss
Video at 4: 20 seconds reminds me of this Bible Verse . Mark 10:21 ESV / 453 helpful votes And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
This noise....this noise is what exists in my head. That perception of a perception of myself. It's like 4 walls constantly echoing each and every thought....and they are many all at once. 'Mastering the mind' sounds like bliss
The best thing I've heard in a long time. Education over entertainment....change society....for the good without even knowing....let's all do this together 💚
Jay, just recently subscribed. With tears I thank you. As a husband and father of 3 beautiful children, my prospective in life has changed. Your quote " We have a list for the one that we want but we don't have one for the one we need to become (to understand yourself first)"was an eye opener. Thank you my brother and keep up the good work. A reminder to "Never" stop refining your "Why" nor "Difining" your intentions.
Today I just received this remarkable and amazing book. I have read through many page’s, what is more I think I am addicted to this. I knew it that I will gain knowledge of the best lessons of my life from this amazing book ever. Since, I already have learned the greatest lesson of my life from Jay Shetty Sir. Because of this book I come to know plenty of thing my passion, commitment and the most significant is patience. And I am confident that I will learn more by this book. Thank so much for writing this book to all of us and educating us best lessons of our life. You don’t have to be a monk to think like a monk. Well, this book clarifies us a lot .When you think like a monk you’ll understand .How to prevent overthinking, How to overcome fear, how to overcome negativity, how to learn from each and every person you meet, why compassion and gentleness is vital to success and much more. It feels amazing to take a short moment out of my busy life to spend it on studying on how to be a improved version of ourself , and hopefully by this, create a healthier life for ourselves. I highly recommend this book to someone who ever has self-doubt & feels lost. if u want to buy the book from amazon buy this from that link sites.google.com/view/best-product-online/think-like-a-monk-paperback-8-september-2020
Self purification yes thats what we all need and detachment is that nothing owns you, this is one of the best explanations of life ,way to go Jay this message will be heard wide and far
it´s been more than two years, he has achieved more then he had said. I always learn lifechanging thing listening to Jay. Today I am part of the Genious Community and it is unbelievable!!
I lost my brother to cancer before he had cancer he was into drugs and he ended up in sex trafficking in 1995. I'm just now realizing all that he went through 9 years after he died. I also lost a cousin who had too many DUIs to live in this state. He had to move to a different state and ended up getting hit by a semi truck in the mountains. The state of Wyoming. Those 2 life-changing events happened in my 20's. It's things like this that happened in our lives that make us change our perspectives and live a happier life because of it if we choose the right path. Living on purpose is what we need to do to thrive to live the longest we can! I did lose my joy for a while during my grief meant. But I am slowly gaining my joy and confidence back to face the world.
Tom, you are my favorite host! You always listen intently to your guests and interject only when needed (e.g., to ask a question that you know or suspect that your audience is thinking. Some hosts constantly comment and interrupt the speakers and I personally find that distracting and annoying. Thanks for providing these enlightening videos!
Sir, you are doing a great job just by chasing your passion. Inspiring in a way helping, many souls on this planet. Thank You! for everything.. Warm regards.
I had to go back many time in this message given by jay to really get the things he said go deeply in my brain, my heart and my hands and stay forever...! It will live til eternity..!
Meher Baba stated in the 1930's something like, "The film makers of Holly-wood have a responsibility to deliver films that uplift the spirit and convey deeper meanings to these struggles we experiance in life." . . . Jays insights at the end are prophetic . . . It has to be this way and he's pegged it! 💖
While most of the motivational speakers talk about working hard, Mr.Shetty talks about detachment, serving others, gratitude and peace of mind etc... I love that.
Literally crying here 😰 there is so much in my heart and I believe I have a very old soul which craves to share love , compassion and simplicity, but not sure where do I start it from 😳 I want to go deep inside me and Dig out something good for me and my surroundings, but how ? Lnv
Exactly what I feel too craving to share love, compassion and simplicity. I also don’t know where to begin. But I can picture myself to uplift others. Perhaps, we can start from self healing and self mastery and teach our closest friends that is important to us and practice what we have learn to them. That way, we slowly shape our ways towards our calling. Teaching our close family/friends what we know will give us more responsibility to want to do more of our calling.
The happiness his face and speech gives out is simply amazing truly beautiful in every way. I wish I could meet him to heal me and lear this amazing way of living
I see you are going back to basics “Detachment isn’t that you own nothing. Detachment is that nothing owns you !” one of the most beautiful verses in Bhavat Gita, Jai Shri Krishna.
Your vibration is that of a monk Jay. If everyone had your mentality Jay, the world would be peaceful. I listen to this video every morning for inspiration. You say that not everyday do you hear "lets invite the monk over". I go back to vietnam yearly, and I see monks almost everyday of my life. You can say I am very similar to you Jay growing up with the pressure of education. lol being bad and getting good grades comment hits home. When a person excersices selfless service, it opens up a world that not much people know about. I have a burning passion to always want to help people around me. I am currently working towards my goal of creating an App that can change the world for the better. Your videos give me inspiration and your pressence and vibrate gives me hope that there are people out there that are still fighting back against all the negative in this world.
The things are said , which has already been mentioned in bhagwat geeta....these are the 9 doors of negativity greed, lust, jealousy, anger,so it's necessary to overcome one to reach in the supremely conscience through the ways of bhakti, meditation, and wisdom🙏🙏🙏🙏♥️
at the moment i am at the peak of my photography career. success and name that's what i wanted. and suddenly planned to move out of the country due to personal reason. I feel totally lost as an artist. happened to come across this video. and suddenly feeling good about everything.
The relationship stuff...wow. Just wow. What do I need to become. We don't have a list of what we need to become, we focus more on the qualities in others....figure out who you are. What do you need from a relationship....who are you. Beautiful, struck home for me.

we got to get this in schools
Yes!
If everybody knew this...there would be heaven on earth...but as sad as it is, mankind doesn’t want that...
So you must create your own heaven...
See it, manifest it, and live it...

Super! Healthy, wealthy, wise. A recipe for life.
Lovely
Video at 4: 20 seconds reminds me of this Bible Verse .
Mark 10:21 ESV / 453 helpful votes
And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
A wonder to see a good interviewer who allows the guests brilliance shiny, Thank you!

Damn this man is incredible his wisdom is beyond this world.
'' Detachment is not you own nothing, Detachment is nothing owns you. '' Head, hand and heart working in alignment''.
This noise....this noise is what exists in my head. That perception of a perception of myself. It's like 4 walls constantly echoing each and every thought....and they are many all at once. 'Mastering the mind' sounds like bliss
So powerful. Mind-blowing
Thank you, Tom, for allowing him to speak uninterrupted. You are the best host!

He is such a phenomena teacher.
I highly recommend this book to someone who ever has self-doubt & feels lost. if u want to buy the book from amazon buy this from that link

Self purification yes thats what we all need and detachment is that nothing owns you, this is one of the best explanations of life ,way to go Jay this message will be heard wide and far
Absolutely mind-blowing!
Thank you, glad you liked it.
it´s been more than two years, he has achieved more then he had said. I always learn lifechanging thing listening to Jay. Today I am part of the Genious Community and it is unbelievable!!
That was an absolutely beautiful interview 🙏🏾❤
I was in a car accident 4/5/2019
Excellent speech. Thanks a million to you for sharing it with us
Tom, you are my favorite host! You always listen intently to your guests and interject only when needed (e.g., to ask a question that you know or suspect that your audience is thinking. Some hosts constantly comment and interrupt the speakers and I personally find that distracting and annoying. Thanks for providing these enlightening videos!
"Detachment is nothing owns you", what an eye opener message.
the best, beautiful and positive 36 minutes I've spend in this entire week.
thanks..... wat a time to be alive.
I follow Jay on social media!
He is incredible!
SHETTY is not only a phenomenal speaker....but HANDSOME 💯🌹
Sir, you are doing a great job just by chasing your passion. Inspiring in a way helping, many souls on this planet. Thank You! for everything..
Warm regards.
Listening to this video at night before going to bed is just like doing meditation. Will again listen second time.
I swear the interviewer looks as if he is ready to cry throughout the whole video.
I had to go back many time in this message given by jay to really get the things he said go deeply in my brain, my heart and my hands and stay forever...! It will live til eternity..!
Excellent message. Loved every minute.
Your passion is for you. Your purpose is for others. Head. Heart. Hand. Love this analogy so much!!!
Meher Baba stated in the 1930's something like,
"The film makers of Holly-wood have a responsibility to deliver films that uplift the spirit and convey deeper meanings to these struggles we experiance in life." . .
Ingrid Njono absolutely! We can sure work on ourselves and our family and friends 🙏🏻
The happiness his face and speech gives out is simply amazing truly beautiful in every way. I wish I could meet him to heal me and lear this amazing way of living
had me hooked on every word! loved it
thats great, hope you learned a lot from him.
I keep rewinding this and listening over and over because Jay talks about so much that resignates with me and I need to hear🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Jay Shetty arose out of the blue. I'm seeing more of him on many different Channels.
dudewat212 and he’s making millions
OMG..You are SO right about educational media...thank you.
Jay, you are incredible. You are making such an impact on millions of people. May God bless you and your family always.
at the moment i am at the peak of my photography career. success and name that's what i wanted. and suddenly planned to move out of the country due to personal reason.
