I had a wolf dog and a German shepherd/wolf (he was her puppy because we breeded her with a German Shepherd) and they would run away and come back 30 mins later

So gorgeous. I grew up with a beautiful wolf dog named Fonzie. He was so cool and very protective, but not mean at all. I miss him dearly.

Pitbulls are naturally loving and protective in nature. They dont know any better unless they are taught otherwise. It sucks they have the stigma they do because of their loyalty and ability to cause harm when you threaten someone they are loyal to (even if that person is the worst).

Vpo My mother is a doctor. She brought a patients story to us and it was that a guy had had a pitbull for his whole life. They were adorable together. Then she snapped. Half his face was bleeding and scratched. Then he had bites and scratches all over his arms and legs...

They're extremely experienced and know what they are doing, wolf dogs can turn dangerous quickly with poor dog knowledge and ownership skills. I agree they're beautiful, but I would never own one.

I rescued 3 wolf/German shepherd pups... years and years ago... back when Forestry was rehabbing and releasing high content wolves ... only one adjusted to my household... Moose... the other 2, I gave to the release program...I'm happy to say Nikki and Spirit did well and were successfully released to Yellowstone ... Moose had been injured and couldn't go.... we live on some acreage in the mountains, backed up to Forestry land... plenty of room to safely roam... Moose did well and lived to be 18 years old, when cancer took him away...He loved me, and was only rarely away from me... it was the most incredible bond, between us... I was totally Blessed!
Saving endangered animals is what I want to do in my life.

Our dogs are wherever we are...bed, couch, etc. they are pack animals and need to physically touch the other members of the pack. Our Basset rescue lies next to me with his paw gently on my leg. He is my bed buddy...I am disabled, in chronic pain and often in bed. Our Boxer has been incredibly gentle with me since he was a puppy. We often receive compliments on his gentle and sweet our dogs are from our vets and total strangers. I do work with them to be gentle but I also believe the physical contact makes a huge difference. Canines are truly amazing.

Yes, they are our brothers and sisters from across the genetic sea! Our social needs are incredibly similar, despite the fact that apes and bears/dogs are so far apart in evolution.

When I lived in San Diego, CA I took my granddaughters up to Julian to see the wolf sanctuary and the town. The site gave all visitors wonderful info re the wolves. We really came away with such admiration for the caretakers and their wolves. Your Pibbles are gorgeous. Pibbles have a great piece of my heart. Ride on Ryder 🐕🐕🐕
My beautiful boy Cuchulain was half Great Pyrenees, one-quarter white Shepherd, and one-quarter wolf. He weighed in at one-sixty in his prime.

My Dog Dixie passed a few months ago, she was thirteen years old a shepherd mix rescue that looks almost exactly as Ryder. We used to joke saying that she had a bit of wolf or coyote in her blood. The smartest, bravest and most loving dog I ever had. I miss her so much.

Wow! I don’t agree with wolf-dogs. We’ve had 6 rescue dogs at a time (just lost our pitty/rott mix at X-mas, 17yrs old) and until this country no longer has homeless dogs then they shouldn’t be bred; much less hybrids. But I do believe once they’ve hit the ground they need to be rescued and raised. That this poor pup had parvo is just heartbreaking. Thank goodness y’all were able to nurse her through this and thank goodness she ended up in a good forever home with an understanding of wolf-dogs. Bravo!

While I agree that dog breeders should be regulated I still think they should exist. Without them some important traits could be lost if purebreds stopped existing. Also when it comes to hybrids there is a thing called hybrid vigor. in which the hybrid is even better at survival then the parent species (sometimes even leading to the extinction of one or both parent species. Or at the very least eventually a new third species). Also how do you think we got the dog breeds we have now? most are from selective breeding and hybridization of existing breeds.
I don't think wolf-dogs have opinions with which to disagree. All they know is that they're alive and want to continue to live-like the rest of us Beings.

And wow, she had parvo. My puppy didn't even last a week after getting it. Glad she survived.

Love this video. Ryder is beautiful. I have a one year old Norwegian Elk Hound named Mojo. He is absolutely the sweetest dog I've ever owned. He sleeps with me every night and wakes me up with cuddles and kisses. Animals make the best humans. They just give unconditional love. Just give Mojo a five minute belly rub and he is good to go.🐶
It is a tragedy to breed wolf dogs for the sheer fact that you cannot predict if they are going to be more wolf or a dog in their temperament. Too many are put down because they can't be released into the wild and they too unpredictable to be among people. People breed them for bragging rights and to boost their own egos, these are the same type of people who try to have tigers, lions, cougars etc. as pets.
Exactly. And videos like this should really mention the fact that breeding wolves with dogs is a bad idea.
