The discussion about team culture hiding on Slack and Zoom but revealing itself in person is eye-opening. It's incredible how an offsite meetup can strengthen team bonds. And hiring a photographer is a brilliant idea - those memories will last a lifetime!

offsite! One of the biggest takeaways from my off-sites at the previous agency I worked at was the bonding with everybody and getting to know them on a deeper level. Being a remote first team makes this challenging. We ensured that before gathering on-site, we had an agenda focused on truly getting to know our colleagues. This way, we felt super inspired when we all put our heads down to work.

I had a good chuckle when you described the Blackrock offsites, Dickie -- sounds a lot like BigLaw events I used to attend. Love the takeaway about the influence we can have on each other's conduct, attitudes, etc. The fact that you guys are mindful about this -- and looking for opportunities to build even more resources to support that championship energy & performance (even down to sleep & nutrition) -- really sets you apart from the vast majority of teams I've encountered. Love the idea of keeping the environment dynamic for offsets too. Loads of great stuff here, thanks.

Love your take-aways from your first offsite, Cole and Dickie. When I was in high school, my teachers did the same strategy to reinforce learning new skills. Sharing what you learn is one of the best ways to help other people.

Probably my favourite video you guys have posted on here. Love the insights to the offsite especially the part about working solo being some kind of a badge. I had similar experiences to Cole in a company I previously co-founded so hearing that it has worked out well the second time around gives me a lot of hope. You guys rock - keep up the good work!

Ahhh man loved the takeaways from your offsite, particularly about how whenever starting something new the only objective should just be doing the thing & getting that first rep - super inspiring to see you move into the office btw!

Really appreciate how intentional you fellas are. The amount of effort you put in is apparent and your team, clients, and community reap the benefits. While it may not be the de facto method (yet), the way you guys ran this offsite looks more impactful than any one I’ve attended. Cheers!

As someone who ran VIP experiences all over the world and for a lot of corporate groups, I got to see on a nightly basis how impactful bringing teams together in-person can be. No digital experience can come close. Awesome to hear how well your first one went :)

I love a good offsite. I've design dozens for clients and so much of what you shared resonates - creating a sense of purpose and community are key

We had an all day offsite for our robotics community group last week, but it was in the same room all day. I like your idea of moving around, changing the room and the topic.

Really great breakdown of how the first offsite went! A big takeaway I got from this is that no matter what you're learning and experiencing, it can all be content, that can be helpful to others

I love the takeaways from your offsites. What stood out for me the most was not thinking of content creation as something I have to do separately. For instance, I'm already a Science and Technology student, I write content on what I'm learning to help other STEM students.
Thank you so much for this offsite episode of Espresso Hour.

This video reminded me of the offsite that my co-founder of the previous agency and I had gone to last year.
The agency didn't work out, and the two of us chose to rather pursue individual projects.
That offsite made me realise my true calling for words and thinking, and now I'm working towards monetising those skills. I never considered it until then because "Do writers even make money?"
Digital content, books, courses, ghostwriting, newsletters - I'm now excited to tap into all.
Thanks to both of ya'll for instilling the faith in me that...
"WRITERS CAN MAKE THE EFFING MONEY!"❤✍🏻💸

My biggest takeaway from our company's offsite was to have each person give a 5-minute presentation about themself, where they're from, why they joined the company etc, at the start of the day.
The offsite was the first time the whole team had met in person, so this was a great way to break the ice and made it easy to figure out how we could help each other and build a better team.
And it was only 5min each! So it's super quick and made the whole day 132% more fun

Here is an idea for your March offsite meeting to help everyone get connected. Consider going to do a trust building activity together like a ropes course or climbing where people need to depend on each other in some unique but tangible way. Part of being in a good team member is learning how to accept and offer help. Trust building activities are designed to foster this and in my experience, structured trust building activities have been some of my fondest team memories. It lead to the strongest mountian guiding teams I have ever had the privilege to climb with and if you make it challenging it builds mental toughness.

Our ER case managers need to agree to an offsite meeting like this to keep our morale and avoid burn out. We all can't go out at the same time so we have to be creative about it. The problem is our co-workers can't stand the pace of the ER so that may not happen.
