Helped me immensely as I had no clue where the bone was. Sharpened my knife first. I kept remembering go down to the table and it was relatively easy when you know how to find the bone. Thanks for making this.
Thank you for the video. This saved me a lot of time and trouble compared to the way I used to hack at our xmas ham! And, the presentation looked much nicer this time thanks to you.
Easily the best simplified demo of how to carve a ham. This will be my 3rd year going back to this video; practice makes perfect. Start with a SHARP quality carving knife and it gets easier! Have a great 2020-2021!!
Just did this on my 1st whole ham. I usually get a half ham but this year my mom got a whole ham and I am cooking it and she is doing most the sides.. Great demo and easy to follow. I used a recip saw to cit the femur in half to freeze later and give the other for my mom to take home for another meal later on
I did it! The first time I tried to cut one (last November) was a raging, medieval battle. But after watching this video, I did my second one a few minutes ago in seconds! Brilliant! Bookmarking this page!
Just carved my 20LB whole ham using this demo and it worked well. Im going to cook that 1st large piece for xmas dinner and the other larger cuts split it with my mom to take and keep mine for other meals. Used my recip saw to divide the femur bone to split also and slow cook with beans and the other half im giving to my mom to make meals for her and her husband.
Thank you for the video! I've got a 21-pound beast of a ham in the oven right now for Christmas Eve dinner, so came here for a refresher before I've got to carve it about 2 hours from now
Ive only seen 1/2 hams in the store, never a whole ham. That ham looks amazing !! I like to save some meat around the bone for beans or as of late been doing lentils and ham. A lot of people worry also but for the most part your ham you buy is fully cooked, all youre doing is reheating it so no need to go crazy about if it is "cooked"
We do freeze vacuum sealed a wee bit of butter. To reheat, we place the frozen bag in a pot of water 145° to 155° f water for about an hour. I take it to 155, then let it cool to 145 reheat and repeat for one hour. Stays moist and delicious. Caution do not leave temp. hovering around around 138 F for any length of time.
Uh, sitting here, just wrecked after “processing” a big bone in ham from the supermarket into bone, sandwich slices, steaks, and omelet/fried rice cubes. Wishing I watched all the videos first. Oh well. I broke it down into too many muscle groups. Lost pounds to skin, fat and goo. Good thing it was on sale.
That’s great but what about the bone-in part? Do we just cut off smaller and smaller pieces? Do you boil the bone for soup? What do you do with the rest?
HELLO MR. FRICK. I M TRYING TO ASK YOU TUBE A SIMPLE QUESTION, AND I KEEP GETTING THESE AWESOME VIDEOS. BUT I DONT KNOW IF MY QUESTION WOULD BE ANSWERED OR DISCUSSED. I WANT to know if a bone in ham has more or less flavor than a bone out ham? Does that make sense sir? I think that i have heard that before somewhere. Maybe at my local steakhouse restaurants. Lol. Can you and any readers please advise and help? Im just wondering for now, but i mite need to use that tip for other 🍖 meats. Lol. Thank you. GOD BLESS YOU. MERRY CHRISTMAS . GLEN
@@carriad11 THANK YOU. Hey that actually sounds good. I appreciate your help too. I heard yrs ago that a bone in is best for flavor, but i forgot over time. HAPPY NEW YEAR . PEACE AND LOVE, GLEN
Internal temperature of 130 degress using a meat thermometer. The Ham is fully cooked, so the goal of the cooking process at home is to reheat it. There is no food safety risk so you just want to wam it until its heated through.
Pork is sinful to eat! But so dam good ~ YUM ~ I'll tell ya a easier way, DON'T FOLLOW THE BONE ! Follow the fat lines> pull and cut, pull and cut, into the fat lines. All muscles will separate from each other! Then slice up the muscles ~ Do this to any meats
Best video on the topic I have seen. Uses a sharp knife and removes the meat from the bone before slicing. This is the way.
Helped me immensely as I had no clue where the bone was. Sharpened my knife first. I kept remembering go down to the table and it was relatively easy when you know how to find the bone. Thanks for making this.
5 Years Later And It's STILL Helpful Information Thank You And Happy Thanksgiving 😊
You handle your meat so well! Thanks for the knowledge! Mother in law asked me to look up how cut up a ham so found your videos and they're excellent!
And just like that I'm going to hell 🤣
@April Bounea me too 😂

How do you do that carving without nibbling? Amazing

Did you bake yours for 4 hours? That's about how long I cooked mine.

Back for a refresher!
great knife!
I love simple and this was great. Thank you for the tip.
That has got to be the most delicious ham ever!
Took me longer than I expected to find a decent video about carving a bone-in ham. Thank you.

Excellent Job!!!!! GOOD LOOK'N HAM!!!!!! COOKING ONE NEXT WEEK!!!!!!
This was a great video very easy to follow
Pretty much every Thanksgiving my family cuts their own piece of ham. Now that I've seen this shit I'll attempt to carve the shit.
That's the best video so far and still he promises; "we come to back to that later." Does anybody carve all the meat from the bone?
You should only carve what's going to be eaten since meat left on the bone stays more tender. But I know what you mean ;)
Brilliant instructions. Thank you
Yum! Beautiful ham!
I had NO idea....wow,thank you
That’s great but what about the bone-in part? Do we just cut off smaller and smaller pieces? Do you boil the bone for soup? What do you do with the rest?
great video
Fricks ham we had for Thanksgiving last year was the best ham I have had in 40 years, so yes I just bought another for Thanksgiving this year.
Cool
How long is the blade on that carving knife?

Bone in !!!! More flavor by far .
@@chrisbrannan4714 thank you chris. I thought that is what i had heard yrs ago, but i needed to make sure.
Thank you
Happy new year,

It has got to be BONE IN! The meats left on the bone make the best Quebec pea soup in the world so nothing is wasted that is for sure!

@@glenpolen5562 Now I will say that my Aussie puppy is never pleased that "her" bone ends up in the soup!
The dude looks like he's dressed to perform an autopsy.
very nice. thank you!
That knife is sharp. That meat looks great.
Yes it does I said that knife looks nice.
Pro job! Thanks.
Wow thanks so much! Looks delicious!
Awesome video, thanks very much.
look at this guy, slicing ham
This was excellent. Salvaged a 110 dollar ham
Thank you!!
that is one juicy looking ham
It sure is oh my gosh
Wow I’ve been doing it wrong. Thanks for the video
How do you slice a whole ham and not take a few bites. LOL
Good job
There is caption blocking the carving process when you speak only but I'm still missing some presentation.
Damn you're good 🤘
Thanks Clint E
The ONLY ham I will cook! No better! And I always get a whole Frick's from my butcher.
Very professional, keep it up💪💯
He said don't overcook and then said 130 or so is good. What does that mean?
Internal temperature of 130 degress using a meat thermometer. The Ham is fully cooked, so the goal of the cooking process at home is to reheat it. There is no food safety risk so you just want to wam it until its heated through.
2019 I learned how to cut a ham from Michael Bolton.
The singer

Cutting ham is so easy that I cut a half inch of my finger off! No worries folks I put the finger in with the finger tenders, yummy!
I like to take pictures lol.
What happened to all that meat?
Thank You~. I had always made it so much harder. Less presentable.
You wanna know the best way to carve a Ham.?...... With a knife 🔪🤣
came here for the noise
I was on the set of a drink ad yesterday and they used plastic ice cubes that will last the whole day of filming. All these tricks are quite clever
Gooddam pork is good.
Sorry but this was the worst thing to try and follow. You go at a million miles an hour and act like someone looking up a how to has done it b4
You ruined it.
I have never seen anyone screw up a ham that bad
the worst cutting skill i have ever seen
jay hriata where’s your video showing you carving so much better? I hate comments like yours. They guy is trying to help.
