here for Kimock who transforms the song into gold, boosting the already great Hornsby into new heights. I've played this 1000 times and never tire of the emotion.
Dude, this is gonna sound sacrilege, but that’s as much of a face melting 5 minutes as the Dead ever did with it. Bruce has “it”, he’s got the feel, and Kimock is absolutely psychedelically intergalactic here. Insanity.
Always man, there is a video on RUclips of a "Voodoo Dead" full show (Another Dead spinoff super group formed earlier this year) and they play "Scarlett Begonias" and his solo absolutely puts me into straight eargasm mode every time. I highly recommend you check it out if you haven't already.
Hi RK... just have to ask what you mean. Before what "all went to hell?" Before Phil and Steve got 20 years older? I still go see them both and I feel all the energy in the experience that I did before. They might not be as young (like us?) but the love is still there in us all. Glad you got to groove with too! Peace and happy Sunday, DE
Phil must've been so pumped to be rocking this hard after Jerry died. It's a real shame that Phil and SK had a disagreement of some sort that led to them not playing together anymore.
Kimmy + letting Bruce sing most if not all the Jerry parts would have put FTW over the top. I winced in disbelief when Phil started singing Lady With a Fan...
Phil went off the reservation in 98, after some weird shit went down behind the scenes in the aftermath of the Other Ones tour (and let's just say it was mostly caused by the same guy who caused the problems at FTW). Over the years he gradually bought into his own "Godfather of the Jamband Scene" more and more, and there was no one around him to tell him not to sing. The Other Ones were great because Bobby and Bruce sang, and FTW would have been great too if it weren't for the egomaniacal monster Phil has become
Cheri-so right But it's all we have left-Trey is doing good but there is no one like Steve K Obviously you answered the question correctly "Oh Oh I want to know Are you kind?" Three better musicians one cannot find This weekend the Santa Clara simulcasts While Trey is great-and can sing I sure wish Steve was up there with the boys Forever young Forever Dead
+DPG jill lesh kicked out kimock on phil/dylan tour like 2 shows in the tour = no chance of steve/phil same stage....kimock was on the last ratdog shows, the Other ones...ect...
and really Doug, it wasn't that kimock "tried squeezing more money out of Phil", Phil's wife Jill felt that Phil should make more money than the rest of the band. Which I can see the validity in that argument. But I can also see why Kimock felt that was wrong. Kimock had a falling out with Jill and they haven't played together since, unfortunately. I'm not a big fan of Warren with Phil, I mean of course Warren is great, but every Phil + Warren show I've heard sound the same. The beauty in PL&F is the difference in sound between lineups. Kimock gave PL&F an AWESOME sound, you can hear it right here. I'd love to hear Kimock play with Phil for just one more 3 night run or so.
if the remaining members had ever wanted to legitimately attempt the gd 2.0 the only choice is kimock. no point in doing it otherwise. there is nobody else that can even come close to filling in for jerry. too bad he and philco butted heads and ruined the relationship.
i heard it was Phil's manager/ wife who slighted Kimock, who walked off a Phil tour rather than be humiliated...and sadly they've never played together since. It certainly is part of the reason Kimock wasn't invited to FTW.
Who is the second guitar player? Not Steve …Phil and Friends alsways had a smoking band from 2000 to about 2014. After that, it seemed like they were out of sync.
here for Kimock who transforms the song into gold, boosting the already great Hornsby into new heights. I've played this 1000 times and never tire of the emotion.
Kimock... the master at work!
We love this show! Steve Kimock brings the magic🎶❤️🙌
Smiling ear to ear watching Kimock do that Begonias solo.. very emotional
Damn, now that I really sit here and listen to it, that solo was fucking amazing.
wow one of the best solos I every heard Kimock on Scarlett Begonias. One of the few guitarist that can make the hairs on the back of my neck go up.
Yeah I agree! Kimock tearing it up!
Jerrys favorite guitarist.
yep.... except the sax is stepping all over this.....
Kimock and Bruce have great chemistry
Dude, this is gonna sound sacrilege, but that’s as much of a face melting 5 minutes as the Dead ever did with it. Bruce has “it”, he’s got the feel, and Kimock is absolutely psychedelically intergalactic here. Insanity.
Not sacrilege. Dead is the reason and these musicians know that.
Absolutely fam!!!! These dudes and further 97/98 should have been the only band EVER touch some of the Jerry's tunes
Kimocks playing is where it’s at, second only to Jerry and Trey, his phrasing and style comes from the heart!
amen

There is no "2 Thumbs up".
So here's the 2nd one.
👍
Ps: Agreed :)
So is that 3rd? 😂
Kimock with Phil & Friends was the best.
We really need Bruce, Kimock, Vega, and maybe someone like Kenwood Denard and John Kimock rocking dual drums. Bruce's Vocals are great.
the way they are jamming at 6:30 is just absolutely beautiful
My favorite version of this song.
just stumbled upon this , very nice !
Kimock's solo on Begonias gives me goose bumps
Always man, there is a video on RUclips of a "Voodoo Dead" full show (Another Dead spinoff super group formed earlier this year) and they play "Scarlett Begonias" and his solo absolutely puts me into straight eargasm mode every time. I highly recommend you check it out if you haven't already.
I’m still coming back to it years later
Wonderful. Thanks for posting.
Holy shit Steve is grinning. So am l. Drop down beautiful 😀 long live Jerry's kids. Peace and Sounds ✌️. cj

This was Phil's last performance before his transplant
Thanks for this post. Put me in a mighty good mood.

+McLain Causey Always appreciate an honest take. And I agree. That was an unreal call (in a bad way) by the band.

dave naslund Kimock would have made it a musical event, instead of just an event. Pity.
Cheri Brooks what a shame

Im glad Phil isn't playing with the other boys right now. I am tired of corporate Lesh America and their CEO Jill
Kimock tried squeezing more $ out of Phil at the last minute. Good thing too as it gave us The Q. Fuck Kimock.
fuck you

What happened between Phil and Kimock?
Steve is Steve... HE FITS IN... WHY WASN'T HE THERE???
Probably my shitty recording I've seen another version of the using my video and a soundboard mix on line somewhere
AT THE 50th I MEAN
Lol, did they turn on some hip-hop at the end? I head a groan from the audience.
That was someone sampling Bruce. I'm not into rap/hip hop so i don't remember who it was
Ah yeah... ah Steve Kimock is in this biotch*

Whoever filmed this, thank you thank you thank you. I just hope you picked a different profession than film
Dude, it was probably some high school kid that worked at the venue. Back off, Tiger.
I think it looks pretty good.
thanking then the slap ?? jeez dude ...
Lol this is a Sublime song why are these Boomers trying to play it?
