Dude, this is gonna sound sacrilege, but that’s as much of a face melting 5 minutes as the Dead ever did with it. Bruce has “it”, he’s got the feel, and Kimock is absolutely psychedelically intergalactic here. Insanity.

Kimock with Phil & Friends was the best.
We really need Bruce, Kimock, Vega, and maybe someone like Kenwood Denard and John Kimock rocking dual drums. Bruce's Vocals are great.

Always man, there is a video on RUclips of a "Voodoo Dead" full show (Another Dead spinoff super group formed earlier this year) and they play "Scarlett Begonias" and his solo absolutely puts me into straight eargasm mode every time. I highly recommend you check it out if you haven't already.

Hi RK... just have to ask what you mean. Before what "all went to hell?" Before Phil and Steve got 20 years older? I still go see them both and I feel all the energy in the experience that I did before. They might not be as young (like us?) but the love is still there in us all.

+McLain Causey Always appreciate an honest take. And I agree. That was an unreal call (in a bad way) by the band.
Phil went off the reservation in 98, after some weird shit went down behind the scenes in the aftermath of the Other Ones tour (and let's just say it was mostly caused by the same guy who caused the problems at FTW). Over the years he gradually bought into his own "Godfather of the Jamband Scene" more and more, and there was no one around him to tell him not to sing. The Other Ones were great because Bobby and Bruce sang, and FTW would have been great too if it weren't for the egomaniacal monster Phil has become

and really Doug, it wasn't that kimock "tried squeezing more money out of Phil", Phil's wife Jill felt that Phil should make more money than the rest of the band. Which I can see the validity in that argument. But I can also see why Kimock felt that was wrong. Kimock had a falling out with Jill and they haven't played together since, unfortunately. I'm not a big fan of Warren with Phil, I mean of course Warren is great, but every Phil + Warren show I've heard sound the same. The beauty in PL&F is the difference in sound between lineups. Kimock gave PL&F an AWESOME sound, you can hear it right here. I'd love to hear Kimock play with Phil for just one more 3 night run or so.

if the remaining members had ever wanted to legitimately attempt the gd 2.0 the only choice is kimock. no point in doing it otherwise. there is nobody else that can even come close to filling in for jerry. too bad he and philco butted heads and ruined the relationship.
i heard it was Phil's manager/ wife who slighted Kimock, who walked off a Phil tour rather than be humiliated...and sadly they've never played together since. It certainly is part of the reason Kimock wasn't invited to FTW.
